Chapter 38 – The Agreement

When it was Liu Yuhao’s turn, he appeared somewhat hesitant.

From his expression, it was clear that he couldn’t let go of Xia Na. However, he also understood that given Xia Na’s current state, it was impossible for her to stay with him.

So, he smiled and declined, “I would love for them to catch up, but we have urgent matters to attend to. How about this: once we finish our business, I’ll bring Xia Na back.”

This was purely a pretense. Liu Yuhao and Wang Cheng knew the real situation. They also knew that once Ling Mo left, it was unlikely they would see him again anytime soon, or perhaps ever.

This was the Apocalypse! Zombies were everywhere, and death lurked around every corner! In such a world, any promise made felt weak and powerless.

Wang Cheng secretly sighed in relief. He feared Ling Mo, but he was even more terrified of Xia Na, who had turned into a zombie!

Liu Yuhao’s eyes reddened a bit, his gaze fixed on Xia Na, but he didn’t dare to get closer. Except for Ling Mo, Xia Na didn’t recognize anyone…

Seeing that he couldn’t persuade them to stay, Song Tian said, “Alright… I won’t force you. But before you go, let Miss Xia see Wang Lin again. Oh, and don’t mind her attitude.”

Don’t mind? How could anyone not mind that attitude? Ling Mo had some sympathy for Wang Lin before, but after this encounter, he didn’t like her much anymore.

However, Song Tian was right. Xia Na was still her cousin. It wouldn’t be right to leave without letting them meet again.

As Song Tian got up to leave, Liu Yuhao suddenly grabbed Ling Mo’s arm, speaking earnestly in a low voice, “Ling Mo, I hope you can take good care of Xia Na. Even though she is… a zombie, you can see she won’t hurt you. If you can help her regain her sanity, that would be the best. But even if you can’t, please don’t abandon her… I’m begging you.”

Seeing the look in Liu Yuhao’s eyes, Ling Mo was somewhat moved. He sighed inwardly and patted Liu Yuhao’s shoulder, “You take care of yourself too.”

“Wait…” Just as Ling Mo was about to step away, Liu Yuhao grabbed him again, this time with a hint of determination in his voice, “I will become stronger than I am now. So one day, I will come find you.”

Ling Mo was a bit surprised by this, but then he smiled slightly, “Then do your best!”

Song Tian searched the building for a while and finally returned with a reluctant Wang Lin. By this time, Ling Mo and the others were already at the entrance, ready to leave.

Ling Mo could have easily dodged, but a small girl’s punch had no real power, so it didn’t hurt at all. Li Yu was so afraid of Wang Lin and claimed she was “very strong”? Aside from her attitude, Ling Mo couldn’t see what was so strong about this girl.

“Don’t think that just because you two teamed up, you can bully me! Sooner or later, I’ll get that short knife back!”

After saying this harshly, Wang Lin turned and headed upstairs. But after just a few steps, she turned back and said, “Don’t bully my family, or I’ll never forgive you!”

Ling Mo was stunned as he watched Wang Lin stomp up the stairs. This girl sure knew how to throw out tough words, but hadn’t she been sold out by Song Tian just moments ago?

As for bullying… Ling Mo glanced at Xia Na beside him and suddenly showed a mischievous smile.

In her current state, there are things that I must help her with. Does that count as bullying?
