Chapter 121 – You’ll Know If You Touch It
“Why did you get into a fight with Wei Junyan…”
Lin Luanqiu’s expression was extremely unnatural, and the atmosphere in the restroom suddenly became a bit awkward.
Objectively speaking, she and Ling Mo could only be considered old acquaintances now. But their unexpected reunion stirred up Lin Luanqiu’s already tangled emotions once again.
Especially since she had left without a word before, making it difficult for her to meet Ling Mo’s gaze now.
Xia Na still remembered Lin Luanqiu and the other two, but she wasn’t particularly interested in humans. After just a glance, she pulled Ye Lian aside, distancing themselves from Lin Luanqiu and the others. On the other hand, Ye Lian, who had recently regained some of her memories and rationality, found Lin Luanqiu somewhat familiar and was curiously scrutinizing her.
Unfortunately, Lin Luanqiu’s attention was entirely on Ling Mo at this moment, so she didn’t notice Ye Lian’s change.
“This guy and I had some conflicts. I just came to settle things.”
Ling Mo said calmly.
There was no need to explain the details of his conflict with Wei Junyan to them. What intrigued him more was why Lin Luanqiu was in this place.
Lin Luanqiu noticed the scrutinizing look in Ling Mo’s eyes, causing her to feel a bit uneasy.
Why did being stared at by Ling Mo make her feel so uneasy?
Even though she had indeed used some small tricks to conceal her whereabouts, it wasn’t really a big deal. After all, she and Ling Mo were only cooperating at the time… While thinking this, Lin Luanqiu’s face turned slightly red. The feeling of guilt was hard to shake off, making her voice sound a bit lacking in confidence: “I… I came here with Tang Xiaoxue and the others, planning to find an opportunity to assassinate Wei Junyan and take over this base. But I didn’t expect…” She couldn’t help but smile bitterly, “I didn’t expect that he would end up being killed by you.”
Lin Luanqiu had been hesitant about whether to tell Ling Mo the truth, but then she realized that Ling Mo wasn’t interested in such matters and wouldn’t target this base. Therefore, she didn’t need to hide her plans from him.
If she tried to be secretive, it might upset Ling Mo and potentially have negative effects on her plans.
After all, since Wei Junyan was killed by Ling Mo, her plans were essentially disrupted.
As expected, seeing Lin Luanqiu being honest, the slight discomfort Ling Mo felt disappeared.
He smiled and said, “So, in a way, I indirectly helped you out.”
Lin Luanqiu burst into laughter. “Yes… I should thank you. Otherwise, if I tried to ambush him on my own, I might have had to pay a price. Actually, he knew I was a superhuman and had approached me before, hoping I would cooperate with him. When I refused, he wanted to eliminate me… Probably because he felt there couldn’t be two tigers on one mountain…”
I see… Ling Mo nodded silently, thinking that from Wei Junyan’s behavior, he indeed seemed very narrow-minded. For him to carry out such a sinister plan, he had to ensure he was the only superhuman. Otherwise, the survivor teams might remain on the fence and wouldn’t wholeheartedly view him as their protector.
No wonder Lin Luanqiu had been unwilling to mention Wei Junyan before. She probably suffered a lot under his hands and decided to escape from X City University, which might have something to do with Wei Junyan.
“So, you two are following her now?”
Ling Mo turned to look at Tang Xiaoxue and He Pengpeng, teasingly.
The two exchanged glances and nodded somewhat sheepishly.
He Pengpeng wanted to say something, but Wei Junyan’s corpse was right at their feet, making him feel a bit of fear towards Ling Mo. The memory of almost being killed by Ling Mo resurfaced in his mind.
“So strong… I used to think Lin-Jie was on the same level as Ling-Ge, but now it seems Ling-Ge is far stronger than Lin-Jie.”
Not only did He Pengpeng think this way, but Tang Xiaoxue also felt deeply shocked. He felt that he was truly seeing Ling Mo’s real strength for the first time and couldn’t help but secretly feel grateful. Luckily, they hadn’t really angered Ling Mo back then; otherwise, they wouldn’t be alive now.
Wei Junyan was a superhuman, yet Ling Mo had taken him down effortlessly. He died like a dog, without any chance to resist… “What do you plan to do next? Wei Junyan was killed by you, so technically, you have the right to handle the supplies he left behind…”
Lin Luanqiu hesitated for a moment and then asked in a low voice.
Her expression showed some expectation, but since Ling Mo had clearly refused her before, she didn’t suggest that he stay.
However, since Ling Mo had killed Wei Junyan, she directly benefitted from it and proposed that Ling Mo distribute the supplies in the Base.
But Ling Mo shook his head disinterestedly. “Forget it. These supplies were gathered by exploiting people’s lives. I find it disgusting.”
His words were heartfelt. The supplies collected by the survivors were not anything good, as could be seen from the reserves of Li Danyang’s group.
Moreover, these supplies were exchanged for by the survivors’ lives. Although he killed Wei Junyan, his motive wasn’t for these supplies.
“What about you? I remember you planned to look for the Rescue Team,” Ling Mo pondered for a moment and then asked.
Lin Luanqiu showed a bit of hesitation, thought for a while, and then slowly said, “I did think that before. But you’re right, X City is so big, where would I find the rescue? It might be better to stay here for a while and hold out as long as I can. But I still believe there will be rescue as long as I can hold on until that day! Plus, with me here, these students can have a better life…”
Ling Mo nodded thoughtfully. It seemed Lin Luanqiu was indeed kind-hearted. Although she had her own interests, she was also considering her schoolmates.
She probably decided to do this out of sympathy for Tang Xiaoxue and He Pengpeng’s plight and concern for the survivors in the central area… “You can stay here tonight,” Lin Luanqiu said somewhat hesitantly.
Even she couldn’t quite explain what she was hoping for. Perhaps seeing Ling Mo again had reawakened her feelings of envy towards Xia Na and Ye Lian.
Ling Mo thought to himself that he wasn’t familiar with the surrounding environment. Since he had already chased Wei Junyan here, it didn’t make sense to go back to the Library to rest.
Although he had brought along a dozen Zombie Puppets, the Swimming Pool was relatively enclosed and shouldn’t attract much attention… Thinking of this, he nodded and decided to stay here for the night.
Lin Luanqiu immediately showed a delighted smile. However, she knew that Ling Mo didn’t want too much contact with the Survivors, so after some thought, she proactively led Ling Mo and the others to a small Changing Room nearby.
There were mats on the floor here, but due to the limited space, it was currently being used to store supplies brought by the Survivors, and no one was living here.
By bringing Ling Mo here, Lin Luanqiu was also implying that he could use the supplies as he wished. Whether he took them or not was up to him.
After chatting with Ling Mo for a while, she hurried off to deal with Wei Junyan’s body.
As for how she would explain things to the Survivors and take over the Base, Ling Mo thought it might be a bit tricky. But with Lin Luanqiu’s skills and her status as a superhuman, it shouldn’t be too difficult for her to pull it off.
Tang Xiaoxue and He Pengpeng also bid farewell to Ling Mo when Lin Luanqiu left. They both noticed the changes in Ye Lian’s expression, feeling that she seemed a bit more human than before, but they didn’t dare to mention it.
After Lin Luanqiu and the others left, Xia Na pulled Ye Lian to sit beside Ling Mo and asked with a hint of a smile, “Ling-Ge, that girl seemed like she really wanted you to stay.”
Ling Mo pinched her slender waist and said, “You’re quite observant. But there’s no way I’m staying here.”
Now that Xia Na’s memory had mostly returned, her thinking had become much deeper. She stared at Ling Mo for a moment and suddenly asked, “Is it because of Ye Lian and me?”
When Xia Na mentioned her name, a hint of confusion appeared on Ye Lian’s face. Although she didn’t quite understand what Xia Na was trying to convey, she sensed that it was an important question, so she fixed her gaze on Ling Mo.
“Well…” Ling Mo’s expression turned somewhat serious. “It’s not entirely about that. It’s my own choice. I don’t regret it now, and I won’t regret it in the future.”
Xia Na and Ye Lian looked somewhat puzzled but seemed to grasp one thing clearly: they were both very important to Ling Mo.
“So, does that mean… I’m your girlfriend?” Xia Na hesitated for a moment before asking seriously.
Ling Mo immediately smiled. “Of course you are. Both of you are.”
“Then…” Ye Lian stammered, “what’s different about being a girlfriend?”
Hearing Ye Lian’s question, Ling Mo chuckled, then suddenly pulled both of them into his arms. “Well, being a girlfriend means doing a lot of things. How about I take this opportunity to teach you both properly?”
“No… um…”
“Ah… what’s this?”
“Well, if you touch it, you’ll find out…”
Just as the three of them were getting playful, Lin Luanqiu, who had just finished dealing with the body, stood outside the door.
Hearing the faint sounds of laughter from inside, she slowly lowered her hand, which was initially poised to knock, and a look of wistfulness appeared on her face…
