Chapter 406 – The Advancing Brat Zombie
“Hehehe… Is that a compliment for me?”
A zombie boy, who bore a striking resemblance to a little girl and looked no older than ten, was standing on the table. With an innocent and angelic smile, he tilted his head and looked at Ling Mo.
“Holy crap… So, the so-called ‘top 3 in destructiveness’ refers to this brat?”
His formidable long-range combat ability, exceptional intelligence level among zombies, enthusiasm for the hunt, and terrifying execution…
The brat zombie’s destructive power was indeed quite impressive. Even though calling him one of the “top three” might be an exaggeration, he was definitely not to be underestimated!
“Heehee…”
The brat zombie’s eyes were wild, but his face maintained a pure smile.
The contrast made him even more creepy, sending chills down one’s spine: “Originally, I wanted to play with you slowly, but I didn’t expect you all to take a little kid so seriously.”
“When you turned into a zombie, the juvenile protection laws ceased to apply to you…”
Ling Mo sneered inwardly.
He wouldn’t let his guard down just because the opponent looked “safe.”
In fact, zombies like this were even more dangerous.
They not only lacked common sense, but their actions were also completely unpredictable, filled with bizarre thoughts that only they found amusing.
“Actually, I was quite surprised too. I didn’t expect you to really be with humans. When that new one of yours died, I knew I was right. Oh~ by the way, you like playing games too, don’t you? You protect these humans first, and then, when they think they’re safe, suddenly… boom! Kill them all? The despair and screams in such a situation seem more worth appreciating, don’t they?”
The brat zombie laughed, “Your disguise is pretty good. If you win, can you give me your eyes? I’d like to blend in with the humans too… That would be so much fun.”
“Sure. I’m short one doll. If you lose, how about I turn you into a human-skin doll?”
Xia Na’s lips curved into a smile, her eyes slightly reddened, as she spoke.
“Hey, this brat zombie’s thoughts are way too terrifying! And Black Na, you should stop too!”
Ling Mo felt his scalp tingle. Such a bizarre conversation could only be continued by Black Na.
“Ha! You’re really interesting!”
The brat zombie’s eyes lit up with excitement. “The people I played with before were never as interesting as you. They never knew how to cooperate, which made me angry. I did feel a bit regretful after breaking them, but then I thought, it doesn’t matter, I can always find new toys, right?”
He giggled. “When I was a human, I loved playing games like this. But the adults always told me what I couldn’t do… so boring. It’s much better now. I can play whatever I want, haha! But the humans here are too weak, and the advanced ones are too stupid. They can’t even speak properly, which is so disappointing.”
“So this brat has always been anti-human!”
This was cruelty embedded in his genes, fully unleashed after mutation, and even more twisted…
Sensing that the brat zombie’s attention was mostly diverted, Ling Mo’s tentacle suddenly moved.
At that moment, the tentacle moved, and the killing intent was revealed!
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The brat zombie’s smile didn’t change as he nimbly jumped back several times.
Where he had just been standing, the table surface was now riddled with dozens of densely packed holes.
“Human, I didn’t ignore you,” the brat zombie smiled at Ling Mo. “Seeing you so quiet, I knew you must be holding back a trump card.”
“Hold back your sister! You really think I’m some kind of toy!”
Ling Mo grunted, and a muffled “bang” sounded in front of him, like a stone hitting a reinforced steel plate.
His face turned slightly pale, and he felt a bit shocked.
The brat zombie’s attack speed was unimaginably fast. At such a close distance, he couldn’t see the throwing motion nor the trajectory of the flying shards.
The sudden impact on the psychic energy barrier gave Ling Mo an instant headache. This was the aftereffect of a sudden large consumption of psychic power.
The brat zombie seemed to have determined that Ling Mo was the weakest target. He continuously threw shards while dodging Ling Mo’s tentacle attacks.
“I didn’t expect this kid to be so tough even in such a confined space…”
In the brief exchange, Ling Mo gained some understanding of the brat zombie’s attack style.
Agile movements, a sharp sensing ability for mental energy, and quick, accurate throws.
Though not at a dominant level, he was much stronger than a typical leader-level zombie.
Even though Ye Lian and Xia Na hadn’t moved yet, it was clear that the brat zombie was wary of them.
In fact, Ling Mo placed Xia Na and Ye Lian here just to trap him in this spot.
As for taking action…
For someone who hurt Ye Lian, Ling Mo would handle it himself!
“Heehee, aren’t you worried about your human companions? I brought a lot of my kind here.”
The brat zombie said with a smile.
“He even knows how to distract me…”
Ling Mo had his tentacles cross and coil towards the brat zombie, but he jumped just as he was about to be bound.
As he was about to touch the ceiling, he suddenly tilted his head, and a stream of blood shot out from his shoulder.
As the brat zombie fell from mid-air, another tentacle pierced through his armpit, pinning him to the wall with a “bang.”
He hung his head, like a puppet whose strings had been cut, limbs dangling powerlessly, slowly sliding to the ground.
As the brat zombie slowly raised his head, his pair of beast-like, cruel and cold, blood-red eyes glared at Ling Mo through his messy hair.
His crimson pupils almost completely covered the whites of his eyes, looking quite different from Ye Lian and the others.
“Ling-Ge… be careful, something’s not right with him!”
Ye Lian suddenly shouted. She was always sensitive to changes in aura, and Ling Mo immediately became more vigilant.
The brat zombie’s reaction speed was indeed impressive. Ling Mo’s failure to kill him instantly was no accident.
Even in mid-air, he managed to twist his body forcibly, avoiding Ling Mo’s lethal attack.
Though he looked somewhat pitiful at the moment, he hadn’t been hit in any vital spots.
“You’re really fun. But actually, I have a trump card too!”
The brat zombie’s eyes grew increasingly red, as if they might start bleeding at any moment. He suddenly lowered his head, and a bone spur pierced out from the back of his neck.
At the same time, bone spurs began to emerge from his wrists, as his previously intact skin started to split open like a zipper.
“Holy crap! It’s really a trump card! And a transformation at that…”
Ling Mo was dumbfounded. The brat zombie was actually a variation zombie!
His muscles began to bulge, and his wounds wriggled and quickly stopped bleeding.
A few seconds later, a hulking, bone-spur-covered, variation zombie with a face like a little girl appeared in front of Ling Mo and his companions.
Witnessing the transformation of a variation zombie up close was quite a shock for Ling Mo.
“Uh… the ring of bone spurs around your neck looks like a dog collar…”
Ling Mo commented after regaining his senses.
“Ah, it really does,” Xia Na nodded.
Ye Lian’s reaction was a beat slower. She stared blankly at the brat zombie for a moment before suddenly realizing, “Mutation dog…”
“I’m clearly a mutation zombie!”
The brat zombie’s transformation was clearly different from the Spider Queen’s. Considering they were in an Industrial Park, with various fires and explosions during the Cataclysm… creating such a monster wasn’t surprising.
“Bang!”
With a kick from his right leg against the wall, the brat zombie lunged forward, his muscular arm swinging fiercely toward Ling Mo’s head.
With a gust of wind rushing at him, Ling Mo wasn’t about to take a direct hit. His psychic tentacle hooked onto the chandelier, lifting him off the ground.
As he kicked at the brat zombie’s front with one leg, his psychic tentacles spread out, striking at the brat zombie’s head from three directions simultaneously.
“Take this!”
