Chapter 25 – Treasure Land Opens

Volume 1: Apocalypse Beginning

Wen Yu had completely lost his mind.

Wen Yu increasingly felt that Heaven had not treated him badly-first the Soul Master profession, then Points from the Police Station, and now scavenging corpses here.

He told himself that in this life, he must sincerely worship all the gods and buddhas.

Seeing the number of Zombies steadily decrease, Wen Yu even rushed into places Simba hadn’t visited yet and went on a rampage.

It wasn’t until a Level 1 Zombie scratched his arm that Wen Yu realized he had picked clean all the corpses on the ground.

Reluctantly, he turned back. Looking at the now utterly cleared-out Zombies behind him, Wen Yu suddenly thought Simba didn’t seem that frightening after all.

“What a great lion, truly big, truly awesome, and so cute.”

Wen Yu checked his Points, now at 1865, and wiped the drool from his mouth vigorously.

Just as he was endlessly praising Simba, a bright flash of silver light suddenly appeared in the distance.

Wen Yu then saw a massive Silver Vortex. Even standing outside Riverside Park, he could clearly see the upper third of the vortex.

“Treasure Land has opened? This… this amazing big lion Simba probably won’t be coming back, right?”

As if hypnotizing himself, Wen Yu was no longer his earlier cautious self. The huge rewards he’d reaped from scavenging had made him lose his reason.

“Just go take a look, just one look.” Greed dominated Wen Yu’s mind, driving him to run at top speed toward the place where Treasure Land was opening.

In the distance, at the spot where the silver light shone, Guan Tao and his group of four stared blankly at the suddenly appearing gigantic Silver Vortex.

“This is it, this is it, but it’s gotten so much bigger.”

Guan Tao carefully examined the Silver Vortex before him.

“But Ping, how did you pull this off?”

“It’s nothing special. I just walked over, and the Pointer suddenly exploded. The Pointer must be some kind of key.”

Looking at Wan Ping’s empty hands, the four of them felt as if the world had suddenly become unfamiliar.

“This is just too fantastical.”

Wan Ping ignored his teammates’ complaints and continued to scrutinize the Silver Vortex.

“Looks like Tao-Ge wasn’t lying, but what exactly is this thing?”

“Who cares what it is? We’ll know once we go in!” Guan Tao didn’t bother with further questions and directly reached for the entrance to Treasure Land.

To the astonishment of the other three, he was instantly swept into Treasure Land.

The three exchanged glances. “He’s just gone, just like that?”

“We have no choice. Tao-Ge already went in, so we have to go too,” Wan Ping said to the other two, as he also reached for the entrance to Treasure Land.

Wan An and Lin Li had no choice but to follow Wan Ping and enter Treasure Land one after another.

Soon after, Wen Yu came rushing over from afar, gazing at the massive Silver Vortex in front of him.

“It should be a large Treasure Land, but I don’t know what kind. Entering a Treasure Mountain and leaving empty-handed-is that something I, Wen Yu, would ever do? Absolutely not.”

Clearly, Wen Yu had once again selectively forgotten his earlier words.

With only a few intruders left entering Treasure Land, Riverside Park once again returned to silence. In the vast and empty park, not a trace of life remained.

At the main entrance of the park, along the route Wen Yu had followed scavenging corpses, the moonlight stretched a shadow long across the ground.

A gigantic figure strolled among the shattered corpses and pools of blood, slowly making its way to the front gate.

It was a huge gray dog.

It stood as tall as a person, its powerful body covered in mottled gray fur. On its four giant paws, sharp claws glinted coldly. Its bloody mouth still held half the body of a mutant cat. Its single remaining amber eye constantly scanned the surroundings.

If Wen Yu saw this big dog, he would definitely give himself a thumbs-up for his deduction.

One-Eye was looking for him.

After this Beast had healed its wounds, it had followed Wen Yu’s scent all the way here.

One-Eye slowly approached the Treasure Land Wen Yu had entered. The trail ended here.

Although the entire park was filled with an oppressive, terrifying, even deadly atmosphere,

One-Eye’s keen sense of smell told him that the terrifying presence had already left this place some time ago.

But that human had brought him pain.

This pain made One-Eye feel as if he had returned to his childhood, to the time when a human had blinded one of his eyes.

It was even more painful than that.

How could One-Eye ever forget such pain?

So, he came-to take revenge on that human.

As a Level 2 Mutant Beast.

“Ding, welcome to the Level 1 Large Treasure Land.”

“This Treasure Land is a Challenge-type Treasure Land, and is only open to humans.”

Wen Yu had just recovered from the dizziness of teleportation when he heard the prompt in his ear.

“It really is a Level 1 Large Treasure Land.” According to the rumors Wen Yu had heard in his previous life, there were plenty of good things in large Treasure Lands.

Wen Yu looked up. The space before him was exceptionally vast, at least the size of a football field.

But most of the space was occupied by an Arena.

In front of the Arena was a Stone Platform similar to an Exchange Pillar, and four people stood before it.

They were Guan Tao and his group, who had entered the Treasure Land a step ahead.

The four of them looked at Wen Yu in surprise.

Clearly, they couldn’t believe someone could enter the park’s interior so quickly.

Wen Yu was also quite surprised; he hadn’t expected anyone to be faster than him.

What Wen Yu didn’t know was that, if not for these four people in front of him, he would never have been able to enter this Treasure Land.

“Big brother, how did someone else get in? Didn’t we activate this Treasure Land?”

Lin Li stared at Wen Yu, his gaze as if he were looking at a thief who had stolen his treasure.

“How should I know? But I don’t think it says others can’t come in, right?” Guan Tao scratched his head, clearly troubled by Wen Yu’s arrival.

“Ping, what should we do?” Guan Tao kicked this complicated problem over to Wan Ping.

Wan Ping quietly observed the man who had suddenly appeared in the distance.

Tall and thin, his equipment was fairly complete, enough to prove that this man was willing to fight and had strong combat ability.

Especially the small black sphere on his shoulder, which gave off a mysterious vibe. Most notably, his eyes showed no tension or caution in the face of the four of them-only calm.

That was why Wan Ping didn’t dare act rashly.

“Don’t be hasty. Let’s see what he’s capable of first. Besides, everyone saw the rules on the Stone Pillar. If he’s not strong enough, we can kill him and take his stuff once we leave the Treasure Land. Lin Li still doesn’t have a Protective Suit!”

Anyone who mistook these people for harmless good guys would be gravely mistaken.

The group whispered among themselves.

Guan Tao was the first to step forward: “Friend, don’t be nervous. We just got here ourselves. The Treasure Land has rules-humans aren’t allowed to kill each other. So you don’t need to worry about your safety.”

Guan Tao spoke sincerely, and his honest, pleasant face made him somewhat believable.

But Wen Yu scoffed. What a joke-worried about his safety? If he hadn’t already known what a Challenge-type Treasure Land was like, he would have slaughtered these weaklings long ago. There’d be no chance for them to stand here and chatter.

Wen Yu didn’t survive a year in the Apocalypse for nothing. Just by looking at these people, he could tell that, even if they weren’t utterly evil, they were definitely not good people.

“But if these guys really get something good, there’s no way I’ll let them take it out of the Treasure Land.”
