Chapter 41 – The Counterattack of the Weak
Volume 1: Apocalypse Beginning
One-Eye hung his head humbly, hearing Simba's footsteps drawing closer and closer. There was no longer any light or hope in his eyes-only empty deathly stillness remained.
One-Eye knew he was doomed.
Simba lashed out with his claw once again. This time, the blow even tore open One-Eye's belly, and his intestines spilled out of the wound.
One-Eye lay on the ground, unable even to get up. He could only gaze vacantly at the pitch-black sky.
Wen Yu watched from the side, a chill running through his whole body. This might be the very fate awaiting him next-endless torture and slaughter, every last bit of hope erased, and then, finally, killed and devoured. Simba had succeeded; what Wen Yu was now imagining was exactly what Simba desired.
Simba slowly walked up to One-Eye. Seeing him collapse on the ground, eyes devoid of any will to live, Simba couldn't help but find it dull and uninteresting.
Too weak, too fragile.
Simba sensed that this "chicken" had no further value. He no longer bothered to harm One-Eye, merely used his massive forepaw to lightly prod One-Eye's head. When he saw One-Eye lying motionless like he was already dead, Simba shook his head in disappointment, opened his huge mouth, and directly bit into the exposed intestines.
The tugging force on the intestines made One-Eye's body tremble. Thick blood poured from the wound in his abdomen.
One-Eye turned his head slightly, seeing Simba with his head buried in his belly, chewing away. The pain continuously tormented One-Eye, and with his only remaining eye, he looked at Simba-an eye that, in an instant, regained its spark.
Simba did not see this look, but Wen Yu, not far away, did. It was a courage born from utter desperation, a murderous intent that disregarded all else. The brutality in One-Eye's gaze was so intense that even Wen Yu felt his heart pound with fear.
This was the struggle of the weak in their final hour. This was the last burst of courage in the face of certain death. This was the counterattack of the weak-a final act to prove oneself: If you want to humiliate me, toy with me, devour me, then you must pay the price!!
S-Rank Ability, Fate Struggle, activated.
The massive wound brought a tremendous surge in power. Wen Yu didn't know how much this ability could amplify one's strength, nor did he understand the potential of this skill-but One-Eye knew.
Under Simba's claws, injured and knocked down again and again, One-Eye's strength had increased each time. Now, with all hope lost, One-Eye possessed enough power to harm Simba. Although this strength was not enough to escape the park or break free from Simba's clutches, it was enough to leave Simba with an unforgettable memory.
The ugly canine head lunged suddenly, biting fiercely at Simba's neck as he fed. The violent movement caused even more blood to gush from One-Eye's stomach wound; he could even feel his internal organs shifting. But One-Eye no longer cared. His eyes fixed solely on one target-Simba's neck.
With the great force of Fate Struggle, One-Eye's fangs drove deep into Simba's neck like nails, clamping down hard and refusing to let go. At the same time, One-Eye shook his head violently, tearing the wound open even further and drawing more blood.
"Roar…" Simba's anguished roar suddenly echoed out. He had never expected that the prey beneath him would still have the courage and strength to hurt him-and not just a little.
Steel Armor was unable to withstand the razor-sharp fangs. One-Eye's teeth clamped down viciously on Simba's neck; Simba could even feel his own artery being torn open, and in an instant, his blazing blood soaked his mane. The immense pain sent Simba into violent convulsions, his forepaws furiously tearing at One-Eye's body.
One-Eye's already battered body was ripped wide open, but his powerful vitality prevented him from dying immediately. The strength brought by Fate Struggle only made One-Eye fight with increasing ferocity. Though his hind legs could no longer move, it didn't matter-his forelimbs could still inflict harm on Simba.
One-Eye's forelimbs slashed savagely at Simba's face, tearing a gaping wound across Simba's nose. At the same time, the power in One-Eye's jaws increased, ripping open Simba's throat until the bones were clearly visible, while his sharp teeth tore away a massive chunk of flesh and blood.
Simba roared madly. The wound on his neck, though not fatal thanks to the life force of a level-three Mutant Beast, was by no means minor. The pain sent Simba into a berserk frenzy.
He clamped his massive jaws down on One-Eye's waist, his terrifying bite force clearly surpassing that of One-Eye. With a snap, Simba bit One-Eye's waist in two. Then, a crimson glow flickered in Simba's mouth, and a torrent of Flame Flow was about to engulf One-Eye's life.
One-Eye, disregarding his own fate, had long since abandoned any concern for life or death. With no support from his lower body and a rapid loss of blood, One-Eye's vitality dwindled. Summoning all his remaining strength, he propped himself up with his forelimbs and, in a final act, bit down hard on Simba's forepaw.
His giant fangs shattered Simba's arm bone, the clear sound of breaking echoing alongside Simba's roar. With his forelimb suddenly injured, Simba could no longer support his own weight and collapsed heavily to the side, the Flame Flow spewing from his mouth veering wildly off course.
One-Eye bit down with all his might, but his strength waned, his vision slowly dimmed, and the light faded from his eyes. When he could no longer hold onto Simba, One-Eye gradually loosened his jaws and fell to the ground, convulsing uncontrollably.
Simba used his uninjured forelimb to pummel One-Eye's battered body repeatedly. When he finally felt One-Eye's bite force weaken and disappear entirely, Simba yanked his arm free from One-Eye's mouth. Seeing that One-Eye was barely clinging to life, the killing intent in Simba's eyes reached its peak.
Never had he expected that this weakling, whom he had never taken seriously, would inflict such grievous wounds upon him. Now, one of Simba's paws was shattered, and the wound on his neck was still pouring blood. Driven increasingly berserk, Simba turned to glare fiercely at Wen Yu in the distance. Even such a simple movement brought him intense pain. Seeing Wen Yu make no move, Simba let out a furious roar to the sky, as searing magma gathered in his mouth.
Simba had decided to use Flame Flow to burn One-Eye to ashes.
Scorching magma spewed forth as Simba opened his jaws wide, unleashing Flame Flow upon the spot where One-Eye had fallen. But One-Eye had vanished; the Flame Flow struck only empty ground.
Simba scanned his surroundings and immediately spotted his two prey.
That human was actually running farther and farther away, carrying the Dead Dog, while Simba had lifted his head.
