Chapter 131 – The Strong? The Weak?
Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds
The raucous laughter around the table died down instantly.
Wen Yu's eyes narrowed. The flash of Black Light had been incredibly fast, but it hadn't escaped his notice.
That kind of power was formidable; he was certain it didn't belong to Bai Feifei herself.
The Little Soul Beast on his shoulder quickly merged into his body. As Greed's Touch rapidly elongated, Wen Yu lunged toward Bai Feifei!
The sheer force of his movement flipped the table, sending food and wine flying. Wen Yu swung his right hand directly at the motionless Bai Feifei.
Then, the Black Light flashed again!
Clang…
Wen Yu stumbled back from the recoil. To him, this defense felt absolutely impenetrable!
"What the hell are you doing?" Wen Yu roared, raising his right hand once more.
He activated his Phasing ability. Under its influence, Greed's Touch left a trail of afterimages as it clawed toward Bai Feifei's head again.
However, even with the power of Phasing, the strike was useless as the Black Light flashed. The light blocked his Phased right hand directly.
Wen Yu felt as if he were pushing against an endless wall of resistance. As he tried to force his hand closer to Bai Feifei, his stamina drained rapidly. He didn't pull his arm back until more than half of his stamina was gone.
He couldn't penetrate the Black Light's defense. That was Wen Yu's assessment, and it was the objective truth.
Seeing Wen Yu's consecutive attacks fail, Bai Feifei let out a heavy, ragged breath. The killing intent Wen Yu had just unleashed made her tremble, but fortunately, the voice in her head hadn't lied to her!
Once the object in her hand was activated, it would protect her from all harm. Of course, to fully unleash its power, she still had one final step to take.
But before that, Bai Feifei decided to vent her resentment. She wanted these so-called "powerhouses" to understand exactly why they were dying.
"What am I doing? Didn't I just say it? I'm dragging you all to hell with me."
Bai Feifei's voice was calm, laced with a hint of mockery. Although Wen Yu didn't know what cards she was holding, he knew one thing for certain: her confidence wasn't baseless.
In the silent private room, Bai Feifei looked at Sun Aotian and spoke slowly. "You… when we first arrived at the Camp, you saved my life. I was very grateful to you."
"Back then, you killed that scum Ergang and gave me a Healing Potion to save Xiao'an. I was so thankful that I repaid you with my body."
"But why did you just attack me? Just because, in your eyes, I dumped you? Actually, you're wrong. It's not that I dumped you; it was always just a simple transaction. Only a child who hasn't grown up like you would believe a beautiful woman when she says useless things like 'I love you'!"
"You hate me, don't you? Well, you're going to hate me even more."
Then, Bai Feifei turned her gaze toward Zhang Lifei.
"You… you have strength and means. You're much more mature than Sun Aotian. But you killed my brother. You have to admit that."
"So, the ultimate reason I came here today is for revenge. You deserve to die!"
"And most of the people who die because of this today… their blood is on your hands!"
After speaking, Bai Feifei ignored Zhang Lifei's ashen face and turned to look at Sun Ruixing.
"You're a good person. When we escaped Hualin Town, you saved Xiao'an's life. I won't forget that."
"But perhaps you haven't noticed that as your strength grows, your kindness is constantly rotting. Have you gone to see the helpless elderly in the Camp lately? Do you still care about the weak here? This morning, did you feel any shame over Xiao'an's death? You didn't!"
"Of course, I don't blame you for that. So, Sun-Ge, I'm sorry. You are the one person here who deserves to live the most!"
Bai Feifei bowed to Sun Ruixing, then turned her head to look at Wen Yu, who was standing beside her.
"Do you know? The person who deserves to die most of all is you!!!"
"You clearly have the power to change everything, yet you act like some high-and-mighty god, putting on an air of being too bothered to care about this or that!"
"Do you have any idea? With just one word from you, so many people in this Camp could have lived better lives. But you did nothing!"
"You probably don't know this, but when they heard you were coming back, every single one of these people drinking and eating meat with you now was on guard against you-guarding against you taking away everything they own. Yet in the places you can't see, those people living in the trash heaps would say, 'Ah, our Hero has returned!!!'"
"What kind of Hero are you?"
"You're nothing!!!"
"You treat those who truly respect you like ants. You think they have nothing to do with you, that their attitude toward you is worthless, and that your power makes you fearless. It's truly ridiculous!"
"Is this that pathetic 'powerhouse mindset'?"
"But you've forgotten that when you first started, you were a weakling too. Every powerhouse grows from a state of weakness."
"I really want to see what you look like when you die!"
"And the rest of you-you so-called powerhouses, so-called rulers, so-called 'Lords'!"
Bai Feifei looked at everyone at the table and spoke slowly.
"You think because you're strong, you hold the power of life and death over the weak and the Ordinary People in the Camp."
"You've probably forgotten that these weaklings, these Ordinary People, are human beings too. They are your own kind. Some of them might be your former neighbors or friends. But as the gap in power grew wider, you selectively forgot their pain. You built your happiness upon the suffering of the weak! You only live for yourselves!"
"But we are human too! We have dignity! We can feel rage! And I! Can! Drag! You! All! Down! With me!"
"You probably never expected that in the end, you would be buried alongside a pathetic weakling."
"Remember, the one who killed you is me, Bai Feifei-and it's to avenge Bai Xiao'an!"
As she finished speaking, Bai Feifei pulled a dagger from her lower back.
It was a common dagger, its crude and poorly made exterior proving it was nothing more than a piece of handcrafted junk.
A scraping sound rang out as Bai Feifei used the blade to slice open her left wrist.
As the pain hit her, her left hand slowly opened, revealing a black crystal held in her palm.
