Chapter 28 – It’s a Lava Explosion Bear, Get It!
Shi Yu waved her hands in the air, signaling Lin Xi to calm down.
“How could I ever treat you like a pawn?”
Lin Xi composed herself and sat back down. “Exactly. Now you’re finally talking sense.”
Shi Yu flashed a wicked grin. “You’re not a pawn. You’re a slave.”
Lin Xi nearly spat out her coffee. “I’m going to tell Sister Lin on you!”
“Heh, you don’t even have the clearance to contact Sister Lin.”
“Then I’ll… I’ll tell Lu Yi! You’re bullying me! You’re harassing your own teammate!” Lin Xi was certain that her cute Neko teammate would take her side.
Shi Yu calmly crossed her arms. “Lu Yi has to listen to me too. So, complaining to her won’t do you any good.”
Lin Xi: “…”
Shi Yu elegantly took a sip of her coffee. “Besides, isn’t arranging for you to get close to Xia Xun exactly what you wanted?”
“Huh? Since when? Xia Xun is dangerous. Do I look like the kind of idiot who wants to jump into a fire?” Lin Xi flatly denied it.
“Your mouth says no, but your body is being very honest,” Shi Yu countered. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed, you pervert. You practically drool every time you see Xia Xun.”

Shi Yu offered some consolation. “Don’t worry. A ‘sweet and simple’ Magical Girl like Xia Xun will be easy to infiltrate.”
Lin Xi remained skeptical. “Easy for you to say. If it’s so easy, why don’t you do it?”
Shi Yu waved her off. “I have no interest in Magical Girls.”
“Oh? I bet you’re just scared. If you’re not interested in her, then what are you interested in?”
“I’m interested in witches,” Shi Yu said naturally. Lin Xi’s face flushed with anxiety.
“Y-you’re interested in me? What are you planning? Let me tell you, I’ll die before I submit!”
Shi Yu: “…”
She added a clarification: “I’m interested in witches, but I have no interest in a Perverted Witch.”
Lin Xi caught sight of Zhao Xinning coming out of the restroom and bit back her retort.
“What are you two talking about?” Zhao Xinning asked as she approached. From a distance, she had seen Lin Xi and Shi Yu chatting animatedly.
Seeing them like that made her feel a twinge of envy.
In contrast, while Lin Xi was very friendly and polite to her, that very politeness created a sense of distance. The interaction between Lin Xi and Shi Yu, however, seemed to lack any such distance.
Are Xi and Shi Yu really not that close? This doubt began to grow in Zhao Xinning’s mind.
“Miss Lin Xi and I were still talking about the Magical Girl,” Shi Yu said. “It’s thanks to Miss Xia Xun taking out that Rakshasa Ghost so quickly that there were no casualties.”
“Of course, Miss Lin Xi is a hero too for spotting the trouble and contacting the Magical Girl so quickly.”
Shi Yu’s half-hearted praise made Lin Xi’s lip twitch.

Due to the delay caused by the Rakshasa Ghost incident, Lin Xi and Zhao Xinning’s plans for a full day at the amusement park were completely ruined.
As the sky grew dark, it was time to head home.

There was another regret Lin Xi didn’t mention: that fellow Shi Yu barging in and ruining their plans for a day out for two.
“How about we go out again next week to make up for it? What do you think?” Zhao Xinning stepped in front of Lin Xi, looking at her with sincere eyes.
In a situation like this, Lin Xi felt she wouldn’t even be human if she refused.
“Okay!”
She agreed instantly.
“Xi!” Zhao Xinning hugged Lin Xi tightly. “Even though today was a bit disappointing, I’m still very happy!”
A warm hug from Angel-sama felt like it was adding years to Lin Xi’s life expectancy.

She answered the call.
Shi Yu’s urgent voice came through the speaker:
“Perverted Witch, you finally picked up!”
“The new Dark Realm Disaster in the amusement park is a Lava Explosion Bear. Let’s move!”
Move?? Lin Xi thought she had misheard. Shouldn’t it be run?!
“Lu Yi and I are already in position. We need to strike first and seize the Lava Explosion Bear’s core before the people from the Countermeasures Bureau arrive!”
