Chapter 53 – An Interesting Woman

“Is… is this heaven?” Lin Xi thought.

“This has to be heaven, right?”

“We all died in that Dark Domain.”

“Lu Yi and I went to heaven. Needless to say, Shi Yu definitely went to hell.”

Creak- After the faint sound of the door opening, someone came in.

Lin Xi turned her head to look.

“Shi Yu?! Impossible! Absolutely impossible!”

“How could someone like you possibly get into heaven?!”

She looked at Lin Xi like she was looking at an idiot.

“What? Passing out wasn’t enough, so you went and fried your brain too?”

“I need to contact a psychiatric hospital right away-“

“Wait!” Lin Xi finally caught on. “What? This isn’t heaven? We didn’t die in the Dark Domain?”

“This is Zheng Mo’s house,” Shi Yu said. “Also, even if we had died, the only ones going to heaven would be me and Lu Yi!”

Lin Xi was dazed for a moment. Just then, Lu Yi woke up too. “Ah, Lin Xi, you’re awake.”

“Lu Yi!” Shi Yu said with a frown. “I told you to stay behind and watch her. How did you end up sleeping in the bed too? Didn’t you already sleep in the car?”

“I did, but when I saw Lin Xi sleeping, I got sleepy again… Um, is it time to eat?”

“Ladies,” Lin Xi said, sitting up, “can you first tell me what happened after I passed out? How did everyone escape the Dark Domain?”

Shi Yu told Lin Xi what had happened afterward.

“Because of that, Sebas was able to find an exit to the outside world.”

“Stop trying to take all the credit. We got out because everyone worked together.” Shi Yu then asked, “Are you all right? Do you want me to call Zheng Mo’s private doctor over to check on you again?”

Lin Xi stared at Shi Yu in surprise. “You’re worried about me? You actually know how to worry about me? No, wait, Shi Yu, you’re acting really weird. I’m scared-“

Shi Yu grabbed a pillow and was about to go to war, but Lin Xi had already predicted her method of attack. She snatched up the pillow first and hugged it to her chest.

Lu Yi got up as well. Suddenly, she asked, “Lin Xi, Shi Yu, do you two sleep together every day?”

“I want to sleep with Lin Xi too. It feels really comfortable sleeping next to Lin Xi~”

Is that why Shi Yu keeps insisting on sleeping in my bedroom???

She and Lu Yi got dressed and climbed out of bed. Shi Yu told them Zheng Mo was waiting in the living room, and dinner was about to begin.

The moment Lu Yi heard the words “time to eat,” her eyes lit up.

“Yes!”

She rushed ahead, practically bouncing with excitement.

Shi Yu told Lin Xi, “Lu Yi loves coming to Zheng Mo’s house the most. You can get a luxury feast here.”

Lin Xi completely understood. She was very much looking forward to it too.

After passing through a long corridor and entering the living room, Lin Xi was instantly stunned by just how extravagant it was.

Beneath her feet stretched vast, mirror-bright marble tiles. Overhead, a dazzling crystal chandelier poured light down from above.

On the dining table, a snow-white tablecloth had been laid out perfectly flat.

A glossy, crimson roast suckling pig, fragrant steamed grouper, plump braised prawns in oil, jade-green stir-fried seasonal vegetables… Lin Xi couldn’t stop swallowing.

No wonder Shi Yu said Lu Yi loved coming here. Who wouldn’t lose their mind at the sight of a spread like this?!

Since she was at a rich young lady’s home, she had to mind her manners. Lin Xi looked toward the host of the house.

A beautiful girl with long, straight black hair.

Zheng Mo was tall and slender, like a black lotus blooming in the dark of night, exuding a cool, almost otherworldly air.

Her glossy black hair fell smoothly like a waterfall, and her face was fairer than snow, her brows and eyes as delicate as a painting.

Lin Xi’s first impression of Zheng Mo was that she resembled Chu Wenmu, that mature beauty with long, straight black hair, but Zheng Mo had an added aura of noble elegance that Senior Chu Wenmu didn’t.

“Hello, my lady!” Lin Xi greeted her enthusiastically.

Zheng Mo smiled softly. “So you’re Lin Xi? You really are an interesting woman.”

As she spoke, Zheng Mo pulled a party popper out from behind her back.

“Lin Xi, welcome to the team!”

Lin Xi, however, felt that this young lady was the interesting woman here.

Zheng Mo’s approachable attitude helped Lin Xi relax quite a bit.

“Come on, come on. Let’s eat while we talk,” Zheng Mo said, inviting everyone over.

After sitting down, Lin Xi grew tense again. She didn’t know anything about table etiquette.

The most high-class thing she’d ever done was drink cola out of a wineglass.

While she was sitting there worrying, Lu Yi had already started gnawing on the braised prawns.

So there wasn’t any table etiquette needed after all-

Zheng Mo called over a maid, who poured half a glass of red wine for everyone.

“My lady-” Lin Xi began.

“Call me Zheng Mo. We’re teammates, after all.”

“Okay, Zheng Mo. I don’t drink red wine,” Lin Xi said, a little embarrassed. “Could I maybe have a glass of cola instead?”

Zheng Mo burst out laughing. “Consider it done!”

And so, Zheng Mo and Shi Yu raised half-glasses of red wine, while Lin Xi and Lu Yi raised half-glasses of cola. The four girls stood up together.

“To Lin Xi joining us, and to all of you surviving by the skin of your teeth today. Cheers!”

Clink, clink, clink. Their glasses met.

Lin Xi drained her half-glass of cola in one go.

As the saying went:

Drink deep from big bowls, feast on big chunks of meat-now this was living!

“Lin Xi, you’re really amazing,” Zheng Mo said. “Shi Yu told me about it. You actually managed to wound Kun in the Dark Domain, and that was when your power hadn’t even fully recovered yet.”

“Oh, not at all,” Lin Xi said with a smile. “You’re the amazing one. Mounting a Gatling gun on a Maybach? You’re a genius!”

While the two of them were in the middle of hyping each other up, another girl suddenly barged into the hall.

“Mo!”

“You started a party and didn’t even invite me?!”

Lin Xi turned to look at the entrance. A petite, adorable girl with cherry-pink hair tied into twin tails and a Lolita dress walked in.

Wait, that wasn’t right.

Lin Xi thought, Isn’t our group just me, Shi Yu, Lu Yi, and Zheng Mo? Four people total?
