Chapter 73 – Counterattack

Volume 3: Rising Winds and Clouds

The Ancient Demon Seed cast a grave look at the blood-red Demon Realm Gate behind it, which was still churning without pause, then spoke to the Ancient Demon kneeling on the ground.

"That's enough. Move out…"

Upon hearing the Demon Seed's command, the Ancient Demon hesitated for a long moment before finally rising to its feet and explaining, "Among the Human Race on the other side, there is a Mutant Beast that may belong to the Divine Beast Species. Perhaps we should wait for Lord…"

The Ancient Demon Seed shook its head.

"Lord Alfort will not be coming anytime soon. The Demon Qi remaining in this space is nowhere near enough for Lord Alfort to descend! We will drive off those enemies first, then deactivate the Demon Qi Shield and accumulate Demon Qi. Only then will our lord be able to descend upon this place."

The Ancient Demon nodded slightly. A concealed psychic pulse then spread in every direction.

The moment the Demonic Creature forces sensed the pulse, they reacted as though they had been injected with stimulants, throwing back their heads and roaring wildly.

Then every remaining Demonic Creature in the Demon City surged outside and raced toward Wen Yu and Kuangliu!

Wen Yu and Kuangliu naturally saw everything happening inside the Demon City through the footage transmitted by the drones.

Wen Yu carefully studied the Six-Armed Ancient Demon, then glanced twice at the snake coiled around its wrist. Through Soul Telepathy, he warned Xing and One-Eye to keep an eye on them.

As the Demonic Creature horde poured out of the Demon City, Throb and Wild Song slowly lengthened in Wen Yu's hands. At the same time, he sent One-Eye another command through Soul Telepathy.

"Draw some blood!"

One-Eye immediately understood what his Boss intended. His little face scrunched up as he muttered incessantly under his breath, but he made no move whatsoever.

Seeing this, then glancing at Xing, who was already itching to charge in, Wen Yu promptly kicked One-Eye twice.

"I said draw some blood, so do it. It's only a few drops!"

At Wen Yu's words, One-Eye gritted his teeth and bit down hard enough to break the skin of his paw.

Wen Yu wanted One-Eye's blood to activate Faceless.

Unfortunately, One-Eye was rather resistant to the idea of Faceless taking his form. After all, anyone would feel uncomfortable seeing an identical copy of themselves appear before them.

Blood slowly trickled from One-Eye's paw, and Wen Yu collected a few drops.

A purple sigil flashed through the surrounding space. Wen Yu thrust his right hand directly into the Soul Realm Space and yanked Faceless out.

He slowly dripped One-Eye's blood onto Faceless and watched as its body continuously writhed, gradually molding itself into One-Eye's shape. Wen Yu glanced at the real One-Eye, who was whimpering beside him, and pondered for a moment before saying, "During the coming battle, you and Faceless will stick together."

One-Eye glared ferociously at Faceless and barked, "Boss, I'm not staying with him! He's a fake!"

Faceless, however, silently obeyed the command conveyed through Wen Yu's soul and walked over to One-Eye's side. The sight made every short hair on One-Eye's body stand on end.

"Enough. This is the arrangement for now. One-Eye and Faceless will clear out the weak Cannon Fodder. Xing, stay back for the moment and handle any Level 4 Demonic Creature that charges out. Kuangliu, you and I will step in as needed."

Wen Yu paused, then continued, "If things start looking bad, we run immediately!"

Kuangliu nodded. When it came to fleeing from an unbeatable enemy, he was wholeheartedly in favor!

As more and more of the Demonic Creature horde poured out of the Demon City, Wen Yu entered Combat State. He silently raised a Gun in each hand and shouted, "Go!"

The first group to leave the city consisted of the Cannon Fodder below Level 4 within the Demon City!

Wen Yu was certain One-Eye and Faceless could handle them. Even if some Level 3 Demonic Creature among them managed to injure the pair, that was exactly what Wen Yu wanted to see!

With Life-And-Death Combat and the Flesh Tome empowering them, One-Eye and Faceless would only grow stronger as the battle continued!

As the enemy drew closer, the miniature One-Eye barked twice. His body rapidly expanded, and he charged headlong into the surging Demonic Creature horde.

Faceless followed close behind.

Xing, who had already entered Combat State, could only whimper impatiently.

"Boss, are those two really going to be all right?"

Wen Yu shook his head. Then he noticed the excitement in Xing's eyes and shook his head again.

"Don't worry about those two. Wait until a Level 4 Demonic Creature joins the battle before you make your move."

Xing nodded and stared intently at the many Demonic Creatures standing atop the city walls. His gaze eventually settled on the Six-Armed Ancient Demon, where it remained for at least ten seconds before he hesitantly said…

"Boss, that guy smells a little like Eagle."

"Eagle?"

Wen Yu thought for a moment and immediately realized which Eagle Xing meant. He studied the footage transmitted by the drone, then asked Xing after a long pause, "How powerful is his aura?"

"Very powerful…"

Wen Yu nodded. If Xing called him powerful, then he was definitely no pushover.

Taking a deep breath, Wen Yu immediately changed his strategy.

"Keep an eye on him. Wait until that Ancient Demon and the Giant Snake under his command make their move, then attack."

Xing nodded in understanding.

Wen Yu then turned to Kuangliu and asked, "How many Level 4 Demonic Creatures can you handle on your own?"

Kuangliu shook his head without answering directly. He silently drew the War Blade from his Spatial Ring and strode forward.

"Let's go!"

One-Eye and Faceless soon crashed into the swarm of low-level Demonic Creature troops.

Against the combat power of two Level 4 Mutant Dog combatants, the low-level Demonic Creature ranks were wiped out in droves.

Some were reduced to ash by the two One-Eyes' Tyrannical Flame, while others met gruesome deaths beneath their razor-sharp fangs and claws.

Watching the battle below, the Six-Armed Ancient Demon at the head of the city wall spoke in a deep voice.

"That creature is quite interesting."

The Ancient Demon Seed was referring to Faceless.

The Ancient Demon beside him nodded.

"We didn't see this creature before. It appears to possess some ability to copy another's body and Skills. There is no noticeable difference between the two dogs' combat strength."

Only then did the Ancient Demon Seed nod. "Is there enough flesh and blood down there?"

The Black-skinned Demonic Creature immediately answered, "There has been more than enough for some time, my lord."

"Then stop sending these little ones to their deaths. Activate the Skill immediately."

At the same time, the Ancient Demon Seed gestured with a finger and singled out eight Level 4 Demonic Creature combatants.

"You eight will keep those two dogs occupied."

The eight selected combatants immediately nodded.

The Ancient Demon Seed looked at Wen Yu and Kuangliu, who were drawing ever closer, then casually singled out another eight Level 4 Demonic Creature combatants.

"You will eliminate the two humans below."

"And then…"

The Ancient Demon Seed glanced at the Ancient Demon beside him and said, "You will command the remaining low-level Demonic Creature forces and advance directly on the fortress across from us."

Judging by the Ancient Demon Seed's words, he seemed extremely familiar with the situation inside this Treasure Land.

The Ancient Demon first looked at the battle below, then at the faintly smiling Black-skinned Demonic Creature beside him. He immediately understood the situation. He would have no share in the credit for killing the Human Race experts…

He was frustrated, but he still could not defy an order from a Demon Seed.

"Yes, my lord."

As the Ancient Demon sent out a mental command, the low-level Demonic Creature forces below, which had effectively been lining up for execution, immediately scattered and fled in every direction.

By breaking into small groups, they had chosen the best possible way to avoid being instantly wiped out by the two One-Eyes' large-area attacks.

"Come back."

Seeing the enemy's movements, Wen Yu thought for a moment and quickly understood the Demon Race's intentions. Kuangliu had naturally reached the same conclusion.

Kuangliu immediately took a communicator from his Spatial Ring and reported the situation to Military Headquarters.

By the time Kuangliu finished communicating with Military Headquarters, the forces inside Demon City had completed their division.

A vast horde of low-level Demonic Creature troops gathered beneath Demon City. Led by the Ancient Demon Wen Yu knew best, they set out directly toward the Outpost. Two Level 4 Demonic Creature combatants accompanied them.

The remaining twenty-four Level 4 Demonic Creature combatants and the two Demon Seeds had already leaped down from the city wall. They slowly advanced toward Wen Yu and Kuangliu.

Looking at the Demon Race experts before them, Wen Yu clicked his tongue.

"That's quite a crowd."

More importantly, judging by their auras alone, not a single one of them would be easy to deal with.

Kuangliu nodded. "Let's test them first."

"Then let's give it a try!"

As soon as Wen Yu finished speaking, he fired his Gun at one of the Level 4 Demonic Creature combatants. At the same moment, his three Soul Pets unleashed thunderous roars and charged straight at the enemy!

The first clash between the experts of the Human Race and the Demon Race erupted upon this field of blood, flesh, and mangled corpses!
