Chapter 196 – Kidnapping
Capture Su Tang???
They didn’t stand a chance!
“Su Tang is the only Magical Girl in Z City with a confirmed kill against a Super-Grade Disaster.” Lin Xi’s heart went cold just thinking about it. “Rescuing someone from her is dangerous enough. Capturing her for questioning is completely out of the question.”
“But… for all of us, and for Thor, I’ll put everything on the line!” Lin Xi decided she had to try.
“Wait,” Shi Yu said. “I have a plan.”
“Let’s hear it.”
“If we can’t capture Su Tang, we capture her sister-“
“No.” Lin Xi cut her off at once. “Su Xiangxue is our classmate. She’s in my band, and she’s always been good to me-“
Shi Yu interrupted in turn. “Isn’t Thor your teammate too? Hasn’t Thor been good to you?”
That stopped Lin Xi short.
Su Xiangxue and Thor had both treated her well. If she were forced to compare them, then of course Thor, her Dragon Maid, had done more for her.
But that was not how this should be measured…
Lin Xi found herself caught between two impossible choices.
“We aren’t going to hurt Su Xiangxue,” Shi Yu said. “We’ll only use her to trade for Thor. That’s all.”
“But…” Lin Xi knew perfectly well that doing this to a friend was terribly wrong.
Qin Ling supported Shi Yu’s plan.
“If we want to deal with Su Tang, this underhanded method is our only option.”
“Lin Xi, we won’t do anything to Su Xiangxue, but they’re going to use the Truth Serum on Thor!”
“Who knows whether the Truth Serum will harm Thor, physically or mentally?”
“If we want to rescue Thor quickly and keep our identities from being exposed-“
“Stop. Let me think.”
Lin Xi sat down and lapsed into silence.
“Ugh…”
A minute later, she slowly rose to her feet. “We’ll do it. We have to save Thor.”
I’ll never deserve to call myself Su Xiangxue’s friend again… Lin Xi thought miserably.
…
“I’ll be honest with you. Someone came to rescue you last night, but they found the place empty. Now you understand why I moved you somewhere new, don’t you?” Su Tang said calmly.
Thor gave a faint smile.
Inside, she was beside herself with joy.
I knew Master and the others would come to rescue me right away!
They might have failed last night, but they would never give up!
“Are you thinking they’ll come for you again?” Su Tang had noticed Thor’s smile. “Don’t get smug, and don’t get your hopes up.”
“I’m the only person who knows about this new location. I won’t mention it to anyone, so there’s no possible way for them to find you here.”
“I’m telling you this so you’ll stop clinging to false hope.”
“Cooperate and tell us what we want to know. If you do, we’ll be sure to arrange a comfortable cell for you in the Undersea Prison.”
Su Tang tried patiently to persuade her.
The Truth Serum had not arrived yet, and even after it did, there was no guarantee it would work.
“The three of us Magical Girls would never torture you, but once you reach the Undersea Prison, I can’t promise the people there will show the same restraint.”
“Threatening me won’t work,” Thor scoffed. “I haven’t done a single bad thing since coming to Z City. You arrested me anyway, and now you’re planning to lock me in the Undersea Prison and torture me?”
“If you dare, you’d better be ready to see the whole Undersea Prison torn apart.”
“Oh?” Su Tang frowned. “You have that much confidence in your Super-Grade Disaster teammate?”
“Of course. She’s the strongest person in Z City.”
“She? Not he?”
“I’m not telling you anything about her.” Thor stuck out her tongue, deliberately provoking the proud Chief Magical Girl. “Even if you use that Truth Serum on me, it won’t matter. I will never betray her.”
Don’t underestimate my loyalty to Master! Thor shouted inwardly.
No one in this world is more loyal to Master than I am!
Thor stubbornly refused to budge, leaving Su Tang with no way to deal with her.
Magical Girls did not torture prisoners for confessions. All Su Tang could do was wait for Dr. Vanessa’s improved Truth Serum.
“The Truth Serum could arrive as early as tonight.” Su Tang stood. “The next time I come here, I’ll be bringing it with me.”
“So if you don’t want us to use it, tell me everything now.”
“Get lost.”
Thor turned her back, no longer willing to waste her time on Su Tang.
Su Tang shook her head and left.
Once she stepped outside the Safe House known only to her, her phone regained its signal and began to vibrate.
She took it out and saw that the message was from her younger sister, Su Xiangxue.
But the notification instantly shattered her usual composure.
Crack!
The phone’s screen splintered in her grip.
What Su Tang truly wanted to crush were the bastards who had kidnapped her sister.
…
“Su Tang cares deeply about her sister. Once she sees the video and the message, she’ll probably be furious enough to crush every last one of us.” Lin Xi removed her hood as she spoke.
With the whole team mobilized against an ordinary person like Su Xiangxue, the kidnapping had been effortless.
They had tied Su Xiangxue to a chair and blindfolded her.
Now they were going to wake her and record a short video.
They would send it to Su Tang from Su Xiangxue’s phone, proving that her sister was in their hands and informing her that if she wanted Su Xiangxue back, she would have to trade Thor for her.
Lin Xi and the others were all using voice changers.
Qin Ling took out a small vial and held it beneath Su Xiangxue’s nose. After one breath, her fingers twitched.
Shi Yu stood in front of her with the camera ready to record.
Everyone else moved out of frame.
“Wake up,” Qin Ling called.
The voice changer made her sound deep and ominous-perfect for a kidnapper.
Qin Ling could have made herself sound even more terrifying, but Lin Xi had asked her not to go too deep for fear of frightening Su Xiangxue.
As it turned out, Lin Xi had worried for nothing. Su Xiangxue was not frightened in the slightest. Instead, she spoke with remarkable calm.
“You kidnapped me?”
“Heh. You’re all dead.”
“I’ll have you know I’ve been kidnapped twice before. I’m still alive and well, but every kidnapper who took me was crushed by my sister.”
“And I mean literally crushed.”
“So I suggest you release me now, unless you want your bodies mangled beyond recognition.”
Lin Xi, Qin Ling, and Shi Yu had no response.
Before abducting her, Lin Xi had worried that the ordeal might leave Su Xiangxue with severe psychological trauma. Well, that was one less thing to worry about.
“Are you after money?” Su Xiangxue continued, offering the kidnappers some friendly guidance. “If you want money, robbing a bank would be safer than kidnapping me.”
“Or are you… after me?”
“No,” Lin Xi said, her voice completely transformed by the voice changer. “We won’t hurt you. We kidnapped you only because we want to make a trade with your sister.”
“A trade?”
“That’s right. We hope you’ll cooperate.”
“What kind of trade?”
“You in exchange for a companion your sister captured.”
“Heh. Forget it. My sister will never agree.”
“She will.”
Lin Xi knew how much Su Tang cared about her sister.
