Chapter 174 – Where Was Something This Big Hiding Before?
Su Lifeng felt as if he were standing at the center of a storm. Now, never mind sensing faint air currents; every part of his body was practically about to be torn open by the air flow!
He abruptly folded his Bone Wings in front of himself to block it, while the two bone spears stabbed into the ground below. Only then did he anchor himself in place. From above his head and around his body came endless crackling sounds. For a moment, Su Lifeng even felt that this entire building might be blown apart.
The process lasted for about ten seconds. Only after the surroundings quieted down did Su Lifeng slowly lower his Bone Wings.
He glanced around, and his expression still carried a trace of lingering fear. This place really looked as if a hurricane had swept through it. It was a complete mess. Glass shards were everywhere, counters had toppled over, and even the suspended ceiling overhead had fallen crookedly down.
What depressed him a little was that the Xenospecies had disappeared.
The wind had been that strong, yet he had actually managed to run away…
“Wait… wind? That’s right. Where did the wind come from?” Su Lifeng suddenly came back to himself. He had been stunned by that abrupt disturbance just now, but now that he thought about it, he was even more stunned!
The structure here was semi-enclosed, and even if a typhoon really passed through, it would not be that sudden, right?
And the timing had been far too coincidental…
Still, Su Lifeng was equally certain that the disturbance had not been caused by him. If he had to describe it, it had happened when he forcefully pushed the air current backward…
“It felt like I pushed open some kind of balance point…”
Su Lifeng looked left and right, then suddenly discovered another problem. Compared to just now, this place seemed much quieter…
Originally, with Xenospecies moving around, the place had felt as if rustling noises were constantly coming from everywhere. But now, it was utterly silent.
Even stranger, the sky outside seemed much darker too.
Su Lifeng remembered that when he left, the sky had indeed been overcast, but at least it had still been early. The feeling now was as if night was about to fall. Everything was gray and dim.
“Strange… Did the energy collision cause some problem?” After thinking for a moment, Su Lifeng decided to find that Xenospecies first.
Just then, Su Lifeng suddenly heard a faint noise coming from a shop beside him.
He froze for a moment, then walked in carefully.
The inside of the shop was almost pitch-black now. Su Lifeng’s gaze swept across the plastic mannequins fallen on the ground and the messy clothing racks, then finally landed on the changing room.
There was only one changing room in this shop. Su Lifeng stood in front of the tightly shut door and looked at it for a while. Suddenly, his Bone Wings swept past and sliced the door panel directly in half.
“Bang!”
The fragments toppled inward. Su Lifeng stared into the changing room, his expression unchanged.
It was empty. No one was inside.
“Why are you here?” At that moment, a voice suddenly came from behind him. Su Lifeng’s heart jumped, and he spun around abruptly.
But just as his Bone Wings were about to stab into the other party, his movement halted.
Standing behind him was a girl. What was eerie was that he actually knew this girl…
“Liu Yue?” Su Lifeng frowned.
After not seeing her for a while, Liu Yue’s injuries had completely healed. Her face, which had not originally been especially outstanding, now looked quite a bit sweeter. In particular, those eyes were hard to ignore… Of course, thinking about it now, Su Lifeng seriously doubted whether she had truly been injured back then.
“Is Gouzi doing well?” Liu Yue asked Su Lifeng, as if she had not seen the Bone Wings stopped in front of her neck, and as if she were truly greeting an old classmate.
So Gouzi really had been left there by her… Su Lifeng remained vigilant. “Why am I here… That should be my question for you, shouldn’t it? Also, you should tell me what exactly I should call you.”
“If you went to check the student records, you would definitely find me. We really were classmates. I still remember when you were a sophomore and came to welcome us freshmen. You looked completely absent-minded and were holding a thick textbook to read. I asked you where I should report in. I had to ask twice before you pointed me in a direction. Then I went there and what I saw was a bulletin board,” Liu Yue said fluently.
Originally, Su Lifeng did not believe a single word she said. But on closer thought, he really had been forcibly dragged into taking part in freshman orientation. It had been Jiang Yushi who dragged him there. The promise she made at the time was that as long as he went, she would stop bothering him, but afterward, reality proved that sometimes a woman’s words really could not be trusted.
If someone did not really know him, they probably would not know about something like that.
But this Liu Yue truly gave off strangeness everywhere. Even now, Su Lifeng could not see any Mutant traits on her.
“The fact that you appeared in this place is already very abnormal,” Su Lifeng said.
“Yes, but didn’t you appear here too? You shouldn’t have come.” Liu Yue said, “That Xenospecies had bad intentions.”
Su Lifeng almost forgot to ask how she knew about that Xenospecies. His first reaction was to freeze. He had come here after seeing the black smoke. What did that have to do with that Xenospecies?
But before he could say anything, a muffled bang came from outside.
Liu Yue immediately raised her hand, pressed a finger against Su Lifeng’s lips, and whispered, “Shh.”
“Bang!”
As the shop’s glass shattered completely, an enormous Shadowy Figure suddenly charged in.
Watching the miscellaneous objects being knocked aside one after another, Su Lifeng felt his scalp go numb. Above E-class!
Definitely a Xenospecies above E-class! And with a body this large, its actual combat strength was surely far above E-class! Especially in this kind of terrain…
“What are you spacing out for? Run.” Liu Yue grabbed Su Lifeng and ran toward the other side of the shop.
That Shadowy Figure rampaged through the shop. Several times, Su Lifeng felt a fierce gust sweep past behind him. Liu Yue seemed to be fleeing normally, and her movements were not large, but while pulling a grown man like him, she was still not slow at all.
“What good does just running do?” Su Lifeng felt that the Shadowy Figure was not slow. If this went on, they would be caught sooner or later. Besides, he found the current situation rather inexplicable. Where had such a huge thing been hiding before? How had it suddenly popped out, just like Liu Yue…
“The Xenospecies that tricked you here, I have to deal with him first. Otherwise the problem will become troublesome. But this should be my fault. I overlooked the factor of you.” When Liu Yue said this, she looked back at him. For some reason, Su Lifeng discovered that the way she looked at him actually carried a hint of reproach.
“But this is fine too. Otherwise, I would still have to hesitate over how to take the next step with you…”
