Chapter 44 – The Desperate One-Eye

Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

"Go on first. Leave this place to me!"

Wen Yu kept his eyes locked on the Giant Zombie King and spoke to Sun Ruixing without even turning his head.

Sun Ruixing nodded. Without another word, he turned and left.

Knowing Wen Yu's strength and temperament, Sun Ruixing wasn't worried about Wen Yu at all. Instead, it was his own safety that needed to be dealt with urgently.

Because the Zombies in the fire pit had started to surface!

As the fire pit was slowly filled by Zombies, some of them were already crawling nonstop out of the huge crater with flames all over their bodies. Then, baring their fangs and brandishing their claws, they charged toward the Camp.

The Zombie King's furious roar rang out. These Zombies paid no attention whatsoever to Wen Yu, who was right next to them; instead, they ferociously pursued the direction in which the distant Class Holders were fleeing.

The Zombie King wanted to kill Wen Yu with its own hands, to use him as a sacrifice for the Level 2 Zombies it had painstakingly nurtured.

Seeing what the Zombie King was doing, Wen Yu immediately found it amusing.

This was the stupid move of a low-intelligence creature. What are Cannon Fodder for?

Of course, they're meant to be used as Cannon Fodder!

Even if a single Zombie could drain even the tiniest bit of Wen Yu's stamina, their deaths would still have value!

Without any means of area attacks, "ants can bite an elephant to death" was absolutely possible!

Unfortunately, the Giant Zombie King was extremely confident in its own brute force-and this kind of strong, brainless opponent was much easier to deal with.

As the horde of Zombies threaded through the space between the Zombie King and Wen Yu, the overwhelming mass of Zombies blocked Wen Yu's view. Wen Yu silently raised his Steel Blade and waited for the movements of the Zombie King hidden on the other side.

Then a tremendous crash came from ahead.

The Zombie King leapt straight over the Zombie horde, and its massive right hand smashed down at Wen Yu's head.

Wen Yu immediately retreated, dodging the Zombie King's brutal attack.

He knocked over several Zombies rushing forward behind him, then lunged back in. The Steel Blade sliced directly into the Zombie King's thigh.

Foul blood sprayed out. The Steel Blade carved a deep gash in the Zombie King's leg. The Zombie King reacted at once, and its right hand slapped down at Wen Yu's head again; a gust of rancid wind swept over Wen Yu's scalp.

Wen Yu ducked under the blow, then slashed out again.

With the Speed Ability's boost, Wen Yu's speed was not much worse than the Zombie King's, and his agility was even better!

Wen Yu and the Zombie King became entangled in close combat. After only a few exchanges, Wen Yu was sent flying backward, while the Zombie King staggered as well, its body now marked with many wounds of varying depth.

Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Wen Yu recalled how, just now, he'd been kicked flying by the Zombie King-square in the chest. Several ribs had broken, and his internal organs had been shaken.

When the Zombie King saw that this human hadn't died, it immediately grew enraged.

As the overlord of Chaihe Town, it had actually been tangled up with a mere little bug for so long.

With a furious roar, the Zombie King spread its legs and pounced straight at Wen Yu, who was getting back to his feet.

After a brief probing exchange, Wen Yu had already tested the Zombie King's approximate strength.

Its Physical Attribute was 41 Points, and its right hand had undergone a certain degree of mutation, causing its right-arm strength to surge. Wen Yu couldn't estimate the exact amount-he only knew that taking a hit from it would definitely not end well!

"I can fight it!"

Having made up his mind, Wen Yu raised his blade and charged forward, once again battling the Zombie King in a tight clash.

As Wen Yu and the Zombie King fought in a stalemate, the Zombie horde had already passed through the battlefield between them. At this moment, One-Eye in the fire pit was also slowly changing!

The fur on its body had long since vanished, and on the exposed skin, some places had even been burned through by the flames, revealing the already charred-yellow muscle underneath. One-Eye's tightly shut eyes-its eyelids had already turned to flying ash. One claw pressed tightly over its right eye, while on its left eye was a vicious wound seared open by the fire.

The eyeball inside had already shriveled away.

The injury was terrifying, yet One-Eye's presence was growing stronger and stronger!

Until, stepping on the dead Zombies at the bottom of the pit, One-Eye climbed out.

His remaining right eye was the only organ One-Eye had to perceive the outside world. With a single glance, One-Eye saw Wen Yu and the Zombie King tangled together.

But Wen Yu's situation really wasn't good.

The gap in Physical Attribute was over 10 Point. Although the Zombie King was a bit slow-witted, and the Swiftness Skill could help Wen Yu make up some of the speed difference, this was absolutely not a long-term solution. If it went on for a while longer, Wen Yu would definitely be slapped into minced meat by the Zombie King!

As Wen Yu nimbly dodged the Zombie King's right-hand strike, he was swept again by the Zombie King's short legs. The Protective Suit on his chest was smashed apart by the tremendous force, and the remaining force poured entirely into Wen Yu's body.

Wen Yu's chest visibly caved in, and he opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Wen Yu smiled instead.

Because Wen Yu saw that his most loyal partner was already prepared for battle.

Just as the Zombie King was about to deliver the final blow to Wen Yu, a scorching gust of force rushed straight in from behind-so fast that even the Zombie King had no time to react!

Flames were still burning over One-Eye's body, but that did not hinder One-Eye's fighting.

The ferocious pounce struck directly into the Zombie King.

The Zombie King, more than three meters tall, was not much different in height from One-Eye when he stood up. With One-Eye's pounce, the Zombie King was knocked straight to the ground!

One-Eye's current Physical Attribute had even surpassed the Zombie King!

Then, a bloody, brutal close-quarters brawl between beast and Zombie began.

One-Eye opened his jaws wide and bit straight into the Zombie King's neck. Sharp canine teeth sank deep into the Zombie King's throat; in less than three seconds, the Zombie King's neck would be bitten clean through by One-Eye!

A flash of fear passed through the Zombie King's eyes. His deformed right hand suddenly exerted force, slamming viciously into One-Eye's body.

The power brought by that deformed right arm was absolutely more than what his Physical Attribute alone would suggest.

One-Eye let out a miserable howl. The tremendous force sent him flying straight off the Zombie King's body, tearing away a massive chunk of flesh and blood from the Zombie King's neck in the process.

The wound One-Eye inflicted with that attack was even better than the effect of Wen Yu's ten knife strikes!

One-Eye sprang back to his feet, showing not the slightest hesitation, and pounced at the Zombie King once again.

The Zombie King let out a roar and charged. The two huge figures, like two armored vehicles racing at full speed, slammed directly into each other.

Far more brutal than the fight between Wen Yu and the Zombie King!

Neither side dodged or evaded the other's attacks; they only used all their strength to deal damage.

Every swipe and tear of One-Eye's claws and fangs ripped away a large swath of flesh from the Zombie King.

And the Zombie King's right fist was nothing to scoff at either. Every time it landed on One-Eye, it thudded like a drumbeat.

Until a great gush of blood flowed from One-Eye's mouth-his internal organs had already ruptured.

The effect of the Life-And-Death Combat Ability made One-Eye erupt with astonishing power. As the Zombie King's right fist struck again, One-Eye clamped down in one bite on the Zombie King's right arm.
