Chapter 89 – Mission Change
Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds
While Wen Yu was deep in thought, all the Class Holders present were gathered around the Exchange Pillar. From time to time, flashes of Teleportation light flickered.
This was the sign of a Promotion Challenge.
The very first battle after entering the Treasure Land had allowed Chu Ziling and Jiang Wentao to promote directly to Level 3 Class Holders.
Even those who hadn't reached a new level had harvested a massive amount of Points, significantly increasing their Physical Attributes.
"What's wrong? You look troubled."
A faint question drifted over.
Wen Yu opened his eyes and looked at the person asking. It was William.
"It's nothing…" Wen Yu replied perfunctorily.
"Do you need something?"
"I wanted to suggest that the rest of us should team up. You saw the battle just now; it wasn't a threat to the two of us as Level 3 Class Holders, but it was extremely dangerous for the Level 2 Class Holders. I think if we unite, everyone can survive this Trial!"
William sat down directly next to Wen Yu as he spoke.
Wen Yu rubbed his chin, falling into deep thought.
He wasn't considering William's proposal, but rather the nature of this Trial.
"Don't you think this Trial is a bit too easy for the two of us?"
"Hmph."
William let out a heavy snort.
"The 'easy' you're talking about is built on the fact that more than half of the Class Holders are dead. You think it's easy, but I think that if the intensity stays like that, no one will survive three days of non-stop, sleepless attacks!"
William's voice carried a hint of anger.
This was his dissatisfaction with Wen Yu. With Wen Yu's strength, if he had gone all out, so many people wouldn't have had to die!
Wen Yu slowly shook his head, offering no reaction to William's resentment.
The battle just now was on a completely different level compared to the Demon Disaster in Wen Yu's memories.
In his past life, the Demon Disasters Wen Yu experienced were far greater in both scale and duration than this!
Based on the available information, this was supposed to be the Demon Race's final offensive against the Silver Moon Clan, but what Wen Yu had seen was nothing more than a minor skirmish.
"Something is still not right."
Wen Yu's frown deepened.
That brief battle felt like a game to him. If that was the extent of the Trial, it couldn't be called 'despair' or 'destruction.' It was as if the Treasure Land Guardian was simply handing out free points!
Just as Wen Yu was seriously contemplating the meaning of this Trial, the city wall behind them suddenly began to shake.
As the wall trembled, the black bricks slowly separated, and the entrance Wen Yu and the others had used to enter was opened.
Walhi's burly figure appeared before everyone.
"The mission has changed!"
As Walhi's low voice rang out, Wen Yu's right eyelid began to twitch uncontrollably.
"I will give you thirty minutes to organize your gains. Then, I will come to fetch you!"
After giving the brief instruction, Walhi's figure vanished behind the city wall once more.
"What's going on?" William frowned, staring at the spot where Walhi had disappeared.
The sense of unease in Wen Yu's heart grew stronger.
"I'm afraid the real Trial mission is about to begin."
The moment Walhi finished speaking, Wen Yu understood. The battle just now was merely the first wave of testing-or perhaps, it was just a bonus round.
Eliminate the weak, and make the strong even stronger!
"Even if I don't know what the next mission is, joining forces has become absolutely necessary," Wen Yu said to William after hearing Walhi out.
"Yeah."
William had noticed Wen Yu's tension as well and nodded without hesitation.
…
Thirty minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
All the Class Holders had already turned the gains from the previous fight into real strength.
Under William's organization, everyone waited quietly for the task Walhi had mentioned.
The city wall opened once again, and Walhi slowly walked in.
"Come with me!"
After that curt command, Walhi turned and stepped onto a lift on the inner side of the city wall.
Wen Yu was the first to follow.
As machinery rumbled, the Stone Platform carried Wen Yu and the others down from the wall.
"This way."
With a wave of his hand, Walhi led Wen Yu and the others toward the city center of the Silver Moon Holy City.
…
Guided by Walhi, the full view of the Silver Moon Holy City finally unfolded before them!
Exquisite, gorgeous buildings stood in clusters, but a closer look revealed that most of them were marred by damage and scratches.
Even more shocking was that despite it being afternoon, there wasn't a single pedestrian on the streets.
The whole city felt like a dead city.
"Have you noticed? Other than the people leading the way and this Walhi up ahead, we haven't seen anyone else this whole time."
Jiang Wentao's voice came from behind Wen Yu.
Wen Yu nodded.
"Logically speaking, no matter how badly the Silver Moon Clan got beaten, it wouldn't look like this. Looks like this place is definitely an Illusionary Realm."
"And there's something else that's weird," Jiang Wentao added.
"Oh?" Wen Yu perked up.
"If this is an Illusionary Realm, then we shouldn't have been able to get Points from killing Demonic Creatures earlier, and the Exchange Pillar shouldn't have appeared either."
"Those Demonic Creatures were absolutely real," Wen Yu said with complete certainty.
Jiang Wentao laughed softly. "I never said they weren't."
"What I mean is: in this Illusionary Realm, the Demonic Creatures we actually come into contact with are real. They're Demonic Creatures raised or enslaved by the Treasure Land Guardian, so there can't be too many of them."
"According to information the Military obtained, Treasure Lands and Demonic Creatures are enemies. If every Treasure Land Guardian could enslave Demonic Creatures on a massive scale, then what would be the point of arranging a Human Sequence or creating Treasure Lands in the first place?"
"That earlier wave of fighting was just a little trick-make the strong stronger and eliminate the weak."
"This time is probably the real Trial."
"And judging by the scale of this Trial, what's coming next won't be easy."
Wen Yu nodded in agreement.
…
"Follow me."
After walking for about an hour, Walhi stopped in front of an ordinary residence. He gestured to them and entered first.
The house wasn't big. Once Wen Yu's group of nearly forty Class Holders filed in, it instantly became packed.
"You, you, you, and you. The four of you, come with me. Everyone else stays here."
Walhi pointed at Wen Yu, William, Chu Ziling, and Jiang Wentao, then walked straight into the small room beside them.
