“Good,” the person in the car replied.

The patrol officer watched for a while. Feeling much more awake, he was about to get back in the car. But the moment he turned his head, he saw his partner.

The man who had just been warning him to be careful was now lying on his back on the roof of the car, his head tipped backward, his wide-open eyes staring straight at him.

He wasn’t dead yet. Under the patrol officer’s horrified gaze, the flesh and blood on his body rapidly dwindled. His full face gradually shriveled and withered. By the time he finally stopped moving, that mummified face still held a deep, lingering despair, along with two words he had never managed to shout: “Save me.”

A chill shot up the patrol officer’s spine, and his scalp seemed to explode. He backed away while reaching for the pistol at his waist, but a figure had already appeared on the roof of the car.

It was a human figure whose eyes glowed green in the night. He was dressed normally, but his ears were covered in stiff black fur, and the tips had grown sharp. Even his exposed hands had turned into a pair of black-furred claws…

A black tail, two or three meters long, pulled free from the patrol officer’s corpse, still slick with blood.

After draining the patrol officer dry, Han Meng wiped the corner of his mouth and muttered to himself, “I can still drain so many more people tonight…” He lifted his head and looked toward the residential complex not far away. Under the night sky, the buildings stood in pitch-black rows, but Han Meng knew that inside them were course after course of fine meals.

“Forget it. The time still isn’t right.” Han Meng licked the corner of his mouth, a trace of regret showing on his face. After thinking for a moment, he lowered his head, grabbed the patrol officer’s corpse, and walked to a spot around the street corner.

A female figure sat there crookedly. A closer look revealed her eyes were wide open, her expression terrified. Her face was covered in wounds, her body scored with claw marks, and she was drenched in blood. At a glance, she looked exactly like a torn-up rag doll.

“I brought you a patch kit. Let’s see what I can use him to fix for you.” Han Meng dragged the corpse in front of her, then crouched and tore it open in one violent motion.

No blood sprayed out. The female figure stared blankly at Han Meng’s every movement.
