Chapter 54 – Breaking into the Camp
Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds
Three people and one dog, led by Sun Ruixing, sprinted directly toward the distance.
"Sun, tell me about the strength of those Cannibals."
This was Wen Yu's habit. Before a battle, knowing a bit more about the enemy's strength meant having a better chance of victory.
Sun Ruixing recalled the details carefully for a moment before speaking.
"When they kidnapped me a few days ago, there were four of them. Last night, five came out to chase me! And three of them were present both times."
"I didn't see exactly how many people were in their Camp, so I can only give a rough estimate based on those two encounters. Their numbers shouldn't be very high."
"In terms of specific strength, they are all Level 1. The strongest is Peak Level 1, and the rest vary. But there's one strange thing-during the fight, I noticed they don't have any Skills at all."
"Hmm." Wen Yu pondered for a moment and asked again, "Do they have any distinguishing features?"
Sun Ruixing's expression turned slightly unsightly. After hesitating for a long time, he finally answered, "Their complexions are much paler than normal people. They give off a cold, eerie vibe. And…"
"And what?"
Wen Yu had felt earlier that Sun Ruixing was hiding something, and hearing his tone now only confirmed it.
"Sun, just tell me what needs to be said. I'm the type of person who hates being lied to the most!"
Wen Yu started the sentence with a hint of a smile, but by the end, his voice carried a chilling, terrifying weight.
Sun Ruixing wavered for a long while before finally telling the truth.
"It's Li Quan'an. He's become a Cannibal too, but I know it wasn't voluntary! So, Brother Wen Yu, I hope you can spare his life later."
"Oh, so that's how it is."
Wen Yu gave Sun Ruixing a strange look. However, the words he spoke next left Sun Ruixing's face full of bitterness.
"Honestly, why are you all so afraid of me? I'm actually very easy to talk to. Besides, going to see these Cannibals is just to satisfy my own curiosity. I want to know some of their secrets. As long as they tell me, I can't be bothered to kill them."
"Do you really think I'm the type of person overflowing with a sense of justice?"
Sun Ruixing could only shake his head with a bitter smile.
Sun Aotian, on the other hand, was full of indignation. He clenched his fists and shouted at Wen Yu, "If you won't kill them, I will! Those scumbags deserve to die!"
Without even turning his head, Wen Yu spat out a direct threat: "Kill them if you want, but leave a few for me. If you lose your head and kill them all, don't blame me if I kill you."
Beside him, One-Eye cooperated by opening his large maw and letting out a low, menacing growl.
Sun Aotian instantly fell silent.
"We're here."
It didn't take long before Sun Ruixing came to a halt. Ahead of them was a low-rise Residential Building.
"They're inside. From what I've observed, these people don't usually post sentries. The whole place is their territory."
"Mm."
Wen Yu gave a faint response. He pulled a pack of Zhonghua cigarettes from his Spatial Ring and handed one to Sun Ruixing.
"You want one?" he asked, gesturing toward Sun Aotian.
Sun Aotian's eyes lit up instantly. Just as he was about to take the cigarette Wen Yu was offering, Wen Yu suddenly jerked his hand back and stuck the cigarette into his own mouth instead.
Lighting it, Wen Yu exhaled a satisfied smoke ring and teased Sun Aotian, "What's a brat like you doing smoking? I've got candy here, you want some?"
Watching the awkward expression on Sun Aotian's face, Wen Yu gave a satisfied chuckle and said, "If you don't smoke, you go ahead. I'll come support you as soon as I finish this cigarette!"
Sun Aotian looked at Wen Yu, then at Sun Ruixing. He pulled the Steel Blade from his back and shouted indignantly, "Fine, I'll go! You think I'm afraid of them?"
With that, he charged straight toward the dilapidated small building.
Behind him, Wen Yu's voice drifted into Sun Aotian's ears from afar: "Don't forget to leave a few alive. I'm not joking. And I hope you can remember what I'm like when I'm not joking."
"Is it really okay to let him go alone?"
Sun Ruixing was actually a bit worried about Sun Aotian's safety.
Wen Yu, on the other hand, looked completely relaxed. "He's a Level 2 Class Holder with over a dozen Points in his Physical Attributes. If he can't even handle a small matter like this, then all that power of his really has gone to the dogs!"
One-Eye let out a few timely barks.
"I wasn't talking about you, it's just a figure of speech," Wen Yu said with a smile, giving One-Eye a playful kick.
"Rat-tat-tat!"
Just as Wen Yu and Sun Ruixing were chatting, a burst of gunfire suddenly erupted from inside the building!
"Crap! They have Guns!"
Sun Ruixing immediately threw down his cigarette butt and charged forward with his weapon.
"Hmm."
Wen Yu carefully distinguished the sounds of the Gunfire coming from the building and calmly blew out a smoke ring.
"A 5.56mm Automatic Rifle and a Police Pistol. The danger level is… practically zero!"
This knowledge came from Wen Yu's experience in his past life. If these weapons were in the hands of a Level 2 Archer, they would pose a certain threat to Wen Yu.
However, without the enhancement of Skills, and with the Guns being held by non-professionals against a Class Holder who was essentially a superhuman-a superhuman wearing an E-Rank Protective Suit, no less-weapons of this caliber were almost laughable!
Facts proved that Wen Yu's judgment was correct.
While the Gunfire inside the stairwell grew more intense, Sun Aotian's occasional roars of anger proved that the Kid hadn't been hit in any vital spots.
For a Level 2 Class Holder, as long as they weren't hit directly in a spot not covered by their Protective Suit, they could definitely withstand the caliber of a Police Pistol!
A short while later, by the time Wen Yu finished his cigarette, the noise inside the building had mostly subsided.
Tossing away the butt, Wen Yu led One-Eye as he strolled boldly into the Cannibals' Settlement.
Inside the building, he occasionally came across headless corpses that had been violently killed by Sun Aotian. Hot shell casings were scattered across the floor.
It wasn't until he reached the fourth floor that Wen Yu finally saw living people.
Sun Aotian was sprawled out in a large chair while Sun Ruixing stood beside him, using a Steel Blade to pick out bullets lodged in Sun Aotian's muscles.
There were many bullet holes, but Sun Aotian had taken them all head-on.
The biggest difference between a Police Pistol and a Military Firearm is that the former emphasizes stopping power rather than lethality.
Stopping power and lethality that were highly effective against ordinary criminals only barely managed to pierce the E-Rank Protective Suit and enter the body before getting stuck in the muscle when used against Sun Aotian.
"Tsk, tsk. Not bad, kid. Taking bullets like a champ-you've got the style of a real Superman!"
Hearing Wen Yu's teasing, Sun Aotian looked rather embarrassed.
"To be honest, I really didn't expect these Guns to be so weak! When the first bullet hit me, I thought I was a goner. But then I felt around and just plucked the bullet right out…"
