Lin Xi slumped to the floor like a deflated balloon.

After about half an hour, a loud stomach growl broke the silence of the room.

“Hungry?” Shi Yu put down her stylus. “I’ll allow you to order takeout. Order a portion for me while you’re at it.”

Lin Xi was indeed hungry. After all, she had only eaten a bowl of spicy noodles this morning.

“What do you want to eat?” she asked Shi Yu.

“Same as you,” Shi Yu said.

Lin Xi ordered two servings of braised pork trotter rice. “Ordered. Transfer me twenty yuan.”

Shi Yu looked Lin Xi straight in the eye. “Who said I’m freeloading? I’ll just owe it to you. Besides, even if I did plan to freeload, what are you going to do about it?”

“I…” The victim, Lin Xi, could only swallow her bitterness.

Having her true identity discovered by this little devil, Lin Xi could only chalk it up to bad luck.

Shi Yu spoke up again, “I spent the last of my money booking this room. I’ll have more once I finish this commission.”

Lin Xi was stunned. “Doesn’t anyone in your family look after you? It’s impossible that they wouldn’t give you living expenses, right?”

“Perverted Witch, stop prying into my business!” Shi Yu snapped suddenly.

Lin Xi could roughly guess that something had happened with her family. Shi Yu had mentioned before that she needed money, that she was desperate for it…

A short while later, the takeout arrived.

Shi Yu countered, “You didn’t tell me there was cilantro in it. How was I supposed to know?”

“So, what, I’m supposed to report every single garnish to you when I order? Who do you think you are, some high-born young lady?”

“Heh, Perverted Witch, keep mocking me and see what happens.”

And so, the two of them bickered through their “pleasant” lunch break.

Once lunch was over, work resumed.

Lin Xi grumbled as she stripped off her clothes. “I bought you lunch, at least, and yet you still treat me like this.”

Shi Yu told her to shut up and hurry into position; they were short on time. “We have to check out by two o’clock, and there’s no way I’ll finish by then. So, after school this afternoon, we’re continuing at your place.”

“What did you say?” Lin Xi was shocked. “My house?!”

“Yeah. I won’t have a cent to my name until this commission is done,” Shi Yu said matter-of-factly. “For the time being, I’ll have to rely on you.”

“So you’re saying you plan to eat my food, drink my water, and live in my house?!”

“Not bad, Perverted Witch. Your comprehension skills have finally reached the level of a normal human.”

“No way!” Lin Xi refused flatly. “Why should I?!”

“Because I am your master,” Shi Yu said without hesitation, “and you are my slave.”

Lin Xi’s face flushed. “You’re shameless!”

“Perverted Witch, remember your place. You can refuse, of course, but guess what? If I’m on the verge of freezing or starving to death, do you think I might just report you and collect that nice reward money?” Shi Yu’s threat was blatant.

Lin Xi gritted her teeth and accepted her fate.

Shi Yu was like a parasite. Lin Xi had no way to deal with her for now and could only let the girl latch onto her.

When they returned to school that afternoon and walked into the classroom, Shi Yu completely transformed back into her model student persona.

Sitting in the corner, Lin Xi cursed inwardly. This little devil was certainly a good actress.

At the same time, she received a message from Zhao Xinning. Xinning was checking in to see if the teacher had given her a hard time.

Being called to the office had just been an excuse Lin Xi made up.

“Xinning still messaged me to check in… She really is an angel.”

“Xinning wants to wait for me after school so we can go home together?”

Lin Xi looked at the message, at a loss.

“No, Shi Yu is coming home with me. I can’t let Xinning come into contact with a demon like Shi Yu.”

Lin Xi had no choice but to reply that she couldn’t go home with Zhao Xinning. She made up an excuse, claiming it was her turn for classroom cleaning duty today.

“I’ll help you with your chores!” A head popped out from behind the back door of the classroom, calling out to Lin Xi.

Zhao Xinning had come looking for her in person.
