Chapter 37 – Sweep and Vanish
Volume 3
In Central City, Wen Yu had just finished dinner and taken a shower when he received the news from Wang Zhigang.
According to reports sent back by Wang Zhigang's men, that underworld boss named Guan Tao was already dead. Everyone under Guan Tao was now being managed by someone named Wan Ping.
"Wan Ping???"
The moment Wen Yu heard that name, he was taken aback.
"Are you sure his name is Wan Ping?"
Seeing the shock and doubt in Wen Yu's eyes, Wang Zhigang gave a slight nod.
"It is Wan Ping, no mistake. And according to the report, this guy has two faces on his chest that can release shockwaves. One of those faces is Guan Tao's!"
After hearing Wang Zhigang's description of Wan Ping's physical traits, Wen Yu fell silent.
If someone told Wen Yu that a little Mudanjiang City had produced two Class Holders of that level, he would never believe it, even if they beat him to death!
The reason was simple: there weren't enough resources!
For Mudanjiang City to support one Simba was already difficult enough. Supporting another Wan Ping would have nearly exhausted the surrounding resources like Zombie and Mutant Beast. For another one to appear on top of that…
Wen Yu shook his head, pushing aside his confusion over Wan Ping's "Rebirth," and said directly to Wang Zhigang, "Where is Wan Ping now?"
"At his group's Headquarters."
Wen Yu nodded and walked straight outside.
Since he had undergone Rebirth, Wen Yu would just kill him again. To Wen Yu, it was a very simple choice, and a very simple matter.
…
Wen Yu moved quickly. It didn't take him long to reach the location Wang Zhigang had given him.
It was a massive factory district. The Class Holders inside had strung barbed wire and the like around the perimeter, announcing that this area had an owner.
With Star perched on his head and One-Eye in his arms, Wen Yu slowly walked toward the factory gate.
"Stop! Who are you?"
Before Wen Yu could get close, he was shouted down by the Class Holder guarding the entrance.
Perhaps sensing that this guy with two War Pets wasn't easy to mess with, the Class Holder who stopped Wen Yu first picked up a Steel Blade from beside him. Then he took out the communicator at his waist and said something to the people inside the factory district. Only then did he regain a bit of confidence and stride toward Wen Yu.
"I'm talking to you! Why are you standing there acting all tough? Don't you know this is the Fierce Tiger Warband's territory?"
Facing the Class Holder slowly approaching from not far away, Wen Yu raised his eyes and glanced at him a few times before saying directly, "Is Wan Ping inside?"
"Who the hell are you, Kid? What makes you think you're qualified to see our Ping-Ge?"
Hearing Wen Yu's question, the Class Holder immediately started cursing, while reaching out as if he wanted to "teach" Wen Yu a lesson.
Unfortunately, Wen Yu's question had never been directed at this Class Holder in the first place.
"Woof, woof."
"Wan Ping's scent is inside."
"Mm."
Wen Yu nodded in understanding. With a casual motion, he drew Throb and aimed it straight at the Class Holder in front of him, whose hand was still reaching out.
"Wait…"
Seeing the Gun, the Class Holder was instantly shocked and was just about to say something.
"Bang!"
The gunshot rang out.
Wen Yu stepped directly over the fallen body of the Class Holder in front of him and walked into the factory district.
Since Wan Ping was here, there was nothing more to say. He would simply wipe out everything in this place!
…
The Class Holders inside the factory district had already started rushing out the moment they heard the message from the guard room at the entrance.
The moment they saw Wen Yu striding forward, along with the dead gatekeeper behind him, they were instantly shocked.
Then the alarm in the factory complex was pulled. Class Holders rushed out, some gripping Steel Blades, others unleashing Skills, charging "ferociously" at Wen Yu.
Looking at the Class Holders before him, Wen Yu took out Throb and Wild Song without the slightest hesitation. Aiming at these small fry who had no idea they were courting death, he pulled the triggers like a madman.
For a time, gunfire, explosions, and the dying screams of Survivors echoed through the entire factory complex.
In no time at all, everything fell quiet.
"Let's go, One-Eye. Find Wan Ping's location."
Wen Yu gave One-Eye a simple order, then set him down from his arms.
One-Eye sniffed the ground twice, then immediately trotted toward the large building at the very center of the factory complex.
Wen Yu turned and glanced at the battlefield, now a complete mess.
Severed limbs and chunks of flesh were scattered everywhere. That was Wild Song's handiwork.
Some Class Holders had only a tiny, insignificant bloody hole in their bodies, but their minds had been utterly destroyed. That was Throb's effect.
Of course, there were even more Class Holders who had never rushed out from the other areas at all.
After all, after seeing Wen Yu's slaughter-like display, those people had truly lost the courage to attack him.
Wen Yu could not be bothered to deal with them for now. He simply followed behind One-Eye and walked into the building.
…
The building was very quiet. Of course, with Wen Yu's current strength, he could still make out breathing sounds everywhere inside.
However, since these people did not appear in front of him, Wen Yu did not mind sparing their lives.
As Wen Yu made his way upward, it did not take long before One-Eye stopped in front of an office door on the top floor.
Wen Yu raised his head and looked at the sign hanging above it: Chairman's Office. He could not help but frown.
With such a huge commotion outside, if anyone said Wan Ping had not heard it, even One-Eye would not believe them.
But up until now, Wan Ping still had not appeared. And One-Eye's senses had also pinpointed Wan Ping's location inside this room. That left only two possible explanations.
"One-Eye, charge in."
Wen Yu gestured to One-Eye.
One-Eye looked at his Boss, then at the office in front of him. He immediately rolled his eye, and in his miniature form, slammed straight through the office door.
Then, nothing happened…
"Looks like he ran."
Wen Yu sighed and walked into the room, examining the furnishings inside.
The room was not large. After all, one could hardly expect an office set up inside a factory complex to be especially luxurious. There were only a few sofas, a desk, and a handful of potted plants that had already begun to yellow.
Wen Yu slowly walked up to the desk. First, he picked up a framed photograph placed in the most conspicuous spot on it.
The photograph in the frame had already yellowed with age and was stained with specks of blood. Some damaged areas had been carefully patched with clear tape. Though it was old and worn, it was still obvious how much its owner treasured it.
Wen Yu quietly looked at the four young men in the photo.
Their faces were familiar. Though they looked somewhat youthful, the people in the photo were smiling brightly.
Guan Tao, Wan Ping, Wan An, and Lin Li.
Behind the four of them stood a huge stone monument, carved with three large words-Sky's End.
