Chapter 78 – I'll Scheme You to Death!

As it turned out, with equal Physical Attribute, the Blood Beast was Xing's perfect counter!

Of the Blood Beast's four abilities, Skill One, Undying Existence, essentially granted it a flawless defensive ability. Combined with Skills Three and Four, the Blood Beast's power system was the perfect union of spear and shield!

The two identical monsters threw themselves at each other in a savage melee, but Xing's attacks were completely negligible against the Blood Beast!

Every strike from Xing tore open a massive wound on the Blood Beast, yet its innate ability allowed every injury to heal completely within moments!

The damage the Blood Beast dealt to Xing, however, was terrifying!

Each blow ripped open an enormous, bone-deep wound, sending blood pouring from Xing's body! Even Xing's Demon Dragon Armor could barely mitigate a fraction of the damage!

At the sight, Wen Yu frowned. He glanced at the Ancient Demon Seed and Serpent Demon Seed leaping down from the city walls in the distance, considered the situation for a moment, then sent Xing a message through Soul Telepathy.

Xing was locked in a fierce struggle with the Blood Beast. Hearing Wen Yu's request out of nowhere, he froze for a split second and was caught off guard as the Blood Beast's claws ripped open another wound!

After giving the Blood Beast a cold glare, Xing immediately stopped fighting it at close quarters. He retreated two steps, spread his wings, and shot into the sky!

The Blood Beast seemed puzzled by Xing's actions, but that did nothing to interfere with the battle plan the Ancient Demon Seed had devised in advance!

The Blood Beast spread its wings as well. A thunderous gale roared as it flapped them repeatedly, lifting its enormous body into the air!

However, its crooked, unsteady flight made one thing obvious: the Black-skinned Demonic Creature responsible for "piloting" the Blood Beast was clearly unfamiliar with flying.

Wen Yu watched Xing and the Blood Beast fly farther and farther away, then glanced at the approaching Ancient Demon Seed and Serpent Demon Seed. He couldn't help licking his lips.

"Those two are ours!"

Kuangliu nodded slightly. War Blade in hand and empowered by the enormous White Tiger Phantom, he charged straight at them!

Kuangliu was fast, but the two Demon Seeds were even faster!

Without the Dragon Might Domain suppressing them, the two Demon Seeds could unleash their full strength!

The Ancient Demon Seed had a Physical Attribute of 500 Points. Without the suppression of the Dragon Might Domain and with the additional boost from Demon Qi Empowerment, its apparent Physical Attribute reached 1,000 Points!

Combined with the dual racial gifts it possessed as both an Ancient Demon and a Demon Seed, its Physical Attribute was extraordinarily high. It was so powerful that it even held a slight advantage over Kuangliu!

Kuangliu swung his massive War Blade in a furious arc, only for the Ancient Demon Seed to block it with its colossal battle-ax. The two weapons collided with a deafening crash!

And then…

Kuangliu's War Blade was knocked aside!

That meant Kuangliu was inferior to the Ancient Demon in terms of raw Physical Attribute!

Feeling the tremendous force transmitted through his hands, Kuangliu's heart sank!

Before he could make another move, the Ancient Demon Seed's next attack was already upon him!

Its battle-ax descended again, glowing faintly. Kuangliu twisted aside, and the instant its tremendous power slammed into the ground, a violent explosion erupted!

The ax had already been imbued with the power of Internal Explosion. Fortunately, it hadn't struck Kuangliu head-on.

The White Tiger Phantom surrounding Kuangliu released a soundless roar. Its tail lashed out like a whip, slamming into the Ancient Demon Seed's body.

However…

The Ancient Demon Seed simply ignored the attack. Enduring the blow from the White Tiger Phantom, it swung its ax again and smashed it directly against the flat of Kuangliu's horizontally raised blade!

"Boom!"

The piercing clang of colliding metal rang out, accompanied by an explosion where their weapons met. Even the ground beneath their feet couldn't withstand the immense recoil and cracked apart on the spot!

"Damn it!"

Kuangliu seized the opportunity to put some distance between himself and the Ancient Demon Seed, then immediately shouted,

"Wen Yu, what the hell are you doing?!"

But the only answer Kuangliu received was silence!

The moment Kuangliu intercepted the Ancient Demon Seed, the Serpent Demon Seed had already begun rapidly closing in on Wen Yu.

Even from a great distance, the stench of the venom in its mouth made Wen Yu's entire body prickle with numbness.

Staring at the Giant Snake before him, Wen Yu immediately entered Combat State, raising his Physical Attribute directly to 400 Points.

Within this Treasure Land, the only known Exchange Pillar was located in the Outpost. As a result, even after slaughtering countless low-level Demonic Creatures, Wen Yu had yet to find an opportunity to improve his Physical Attribute.

But against the Serpent Demon Seed, a difference of a few dozen Points in Physical Attribute hardly mattered!

The Serpent Demon Seed moved with astonishing speed. Even with Wen Yu's reaction time, he could barely make out its general outline!

A black shadow lunged toward him. The Serpent Demon Seed suddenly reared upright, and the instant a hissing sound emerged from its mouth, its entire upper body came crashing down on Wen Yu like a mountain!

Given Wen Yu's own combat ability, attempting to defeat a Demon Seed whose base Physical Attribute was several times higher than his was nothing more than a fool's dream!

The instant he sensed danger, Wen Yu activated Phasing. At the same time, Throb and Wild Song unleashed a relentless barrage ahead of him in an attempt to slow the Serpent Demon Seed's attack!

But it had no effect!

Wild Song fared somewhat better. With an 800-Point attack power, plus its three special effects: Annihilation, Explosion, and Bleeding, it could at least do some damage to the Serpent Demon Seed.

Of course, that damage amounted to no more than a few bowl-sized wounds in the Serpent Demon Seed's body. Given its enormous size, injuries like those were practically negligible!

Throb had it even worse.

With more than a fivefold gap in Physical Attribute, Throb's Soul Strike effect was pitifully weak.

Being hit by Throb's bullets was like a normal person suffering from a migraine. In the middle of such an intense battle, the Serpent Demon Seed could grit its teeth and endure it!

The Giant Snake's massive body came crashing down over him with such speed that Wen Yu had no time to react!

"BOOM!"

A quake-like crash swept across the battlefield as dust and sand billowed into the sky. Wen Yu vanished beneath it!

Wen Yu had activated Phasing before confronting the Serpent Demon Seed, so the attack naturally passed right through him!

He was now standing inside the Serpent Demon Seed's body, surrounded by dark, glistening flesh.

Feeling his stamina draining at a tremendous rate, Wen Yu silently ran the numbers.

"I can only stay in here for about three minutes!"

The Serpent Demon Seed's body was filled with corrosive fluids, while its terrifying muscles constantly contracted around him. It was the equivalent of Wen Yu being attacked every second he remained inside!

Fortunately, the force of those attacks was not particularly strong.

Wen Yu silently extended Greed's Touch, then released the Phasing around the weapon's Blade. Mustering all his strength, he thrust it into the Serpent Demon Seed's flesh!

"Schlk…"

A sound like meat being sliced rang out. Greed's Touch met tremendous resistance, barely penetrating the flesh before the Serpent Demon Seed's terrifying muscle tissue stopped it cold!

Wen Yu slowly withdrew Greed's Touch.

That amount of damage was far too insignificant!

It was also why Wen Yu had not dared to move from where he stood. The moment he tried to shift position, the dense muscle tissue would block his way. It could not injure him while Phasing was active, but forcing his way through it would drastically accelerate his stamina consumption.

He might not even make it two steps before the excessive drain forced Phasing to deactivate!

And then he would truly be dead!

Wen Yu drew Wild Song and Throb again, aimed both weapons at the flesh in front of him, and fired several shots!

The results were decent. At the very least, they inflicted far more damage on the Serpent Demon Seed than Greed's Touch had.

But they still accomplished nothing!

"Then how about this?"

A vicious grin spread across Wen Yu's face. He imbued Wild Song's bullets with Phasing and repeatedly fired toward the location he had calculated!

According to his estimate, that was the Serpent Demon Seed's vital spot: where its heart should be!

This attack proved remarkably effective!

Bullets tore from Wild Song's muzzle in rapid succession. Empowered by Phasing, they passed straight through the surrounding flesh and bone as they flew toward the designated target!

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Explosions erupted one after another inside the Serpent Demon Seed's body. From within, Wen Yu could clearly feel its body convulsing. Outside, the thunderous sound of the Serpent Demon Seed thrashing and rolling across the ground never stopped!

"Looks like this is roughly the right spot!"

Judging by the Serpent Demon Seed's reactions, Wen Yu aimed Throb at a specific point!

Then…

A bullet imbued with Phasing shot out.

"BOOM!"

An explosion erupted inside the Serpent Demon Seed. At the same instant, the pressure around Wen Yu abruptly vanished, and the flesh surrounding him completely disappeared!

Only an empty snakeskin remained, drifting slowly downward. It passed through Wen Yu's phased body before landing on the ground!

One-Eye and Faceless had nearly finished their battle. Only a single Bone Demon remained, desperately struggling against the two beasts.

The fight between Kuangliu and the Ancient Demon Seed had also come to a temporary halt. Judging by their condition, the two seemed evenly matched, and both had sustained injuries!

The Serpent Demon Seed was now beside the Ancient Demon Seed, hissing incessantly. It was probably explaining Wen Yu's abilities to the Ancient Demon Seed!

Meanwhile, Xing had already carried the Blood Beast to the far side of Demon City, and they were flying farther away by the second!

As the Ancient Demon Seed and Serpent Demon Seed continued muttering to each other, Wen Yu silently assessed his own condition.

Thanks to Phasing, he had not suffered any injuries. His clothes were in tatters, but his stamina had fallen below half. That meant if the Serpent Demon Seed caught him like that again, his only possible fate would be digestion!

"Are you all right?"

Kuangliu asked after taking a couple of ragged breaths.

Wen Yu merely shook his head, then glanced toward Xing and the Blood Beast, now reduced to two tiny black specks in the distance.

Then he raised Throb and Wild Song, aimed them at the Ancient Demon Seed, and rapidly pulled both triggers!

A storm of whistling bullets engulfed the Ancient Demon Seed.

A trace of disdain flashed through its eyes.

It had already gained a general understanding of the battle that had just taken place.

It also knew exactly how strong Wen Yu was.

In its eyes, this human was undoubtedly the easiest target. Dealing with him would be far simpler than dealing with the man wielding the saber.

It immediately ordered the Serpent Demon Seed to keep Kuangliu occupied, then rushed toward Wen Yu.

The Ancient Demon's Physical Attribute needed no explanation. It twisted slightly, evading Kuangliu's attempt to intercept it. As Wen Yu's figure drew closer, a vicious gleam flashed in its eyes.

"One move is all I'll need to kill you!"

After communicating with the Serpent Demon Seed, the Ancient Demon Seed had already settled on a plan: it would confront Wen Yu and kill him as quickly as possible, while the Serpent Demon Seed kept Kuangliu occupied for a short while.

The main thing that made Wen Yu difficult to deal with was his Phasing ability. It was precisely because of Phasing that he had been able to inflict such severe damage on the Serpent Demon Seed.

However, the Ancient Demon Seed's size ensured that Wen Yu could not enter its body. Its smaller frame also made it far more agile. Given the terrifying disparity in their Physical Attribute, accurately hitting the Ancient Demon Seed would be extraordinarily difficult for Wen Yu.

And sure enough, hitting it proved to be nearly impossible.

Wen Yu could barely make out a blur rapidly closing in on him. In mere moments, the distance between them had already been cut in half, and not a single bullet he had fired had struck the Ancient Demon Seed.

The Demon Seed was even faster than Throb's bullets!

At this sight, Wen Yu calmly put away his two soul armaments and deactivated Combat State.

A flash of exhilaration appeared in the Ancient Demon Seed's eyes.

The human had given up resisting!

Watching the Demon Seed rapidly approach from straight ahead, Wen Yu slowly closed his eyes as the corners of his mouth curled into a smile.

It was a sly, treacherous smile.

Unfortunately, that was not how the Ancient Demon Seed interpreted it. All it saw was a trace of bitterness in Wen Yu's smile.

And so, it raised its battle-ax high…

Then a streak of purple light flashed through the air!

"Clang…"

The Ancient Demon Seed's battle-ax slammed into a black, scale-covered thigh. The tremendous force shattered several scales, and then…

That was as far as it got!

At the same time, overwhelming pressure swept across the battlefield, causing the Ancient Demon Seed's Physical Attribute to plummet again and again. It did not stop until it had been reduced by eighty percent.

Staring at the familiar figure before it, the Ancient Demon Seed swallowed hard. Its limbs instantly went weak.

The distant Serpent Demon Seed fared even worse. The instant it saw Xing, it seemed to recall the terror of being killed eight times in a row by him.

Its enormous body immediately coiled in on itself before retreating frantically!

Behind Xing, Wen Yu gave the Ancient Demon Seed a faint smile and slowly said,

"Your opponent was never me."

Xing raised a claw high. Given the terrifying gulf in their Physical Attribute, he simply swatted the Ancient Demon Seed with a single blow!

The tremendous force instantly shattered the Ancient Demon Seed's armor. The scales across its body cracked and peeled away as blood gushed from its wounds.

Feeling the crushing pressure around it and the horrific injuries covering its body, despair flashed through the Ancient Demon Seed's eyes.

Its combination of abilities made it an exceptionally powerful fighter. Unfortunately, it possessed no desperate, last-resort technique. Now that the battle had reached this point, there was no longer any possibility of survival.

It stared despairingly at the Serpent Demon Seed, which was fleeing faster and faster. Mustering its final breath, it shouted something in the Demon Realm Language.

"Deton-"

Before the Ancient Demon Seed could finish, Xing bit its head off!

The Ancient Demon Seed's Physical Attribute was high, so its bones and muscles were naturally extraordinarily tough. Xing had to exert a great deal of effort to bite all the way through its neck. Then he opened his maw and swallowed the head, along with the Magic Crystal inside its skull, as though popping a piece of candy into his mouth.

Wen Yu watched the Serpent Demon Seed flee into the distance, but had no desire to pursue it.

Neither did Kuangliu. When Xing appeared, the suppression from Dragon Might Domain had nearly sent him crashing headfirst into the ground. Even now, he had yet to adjust to the drastic reduction in his Physical Attribute. All he could do was allow the Serpent Demon Seed to return to Demon City.

Kuangliu gave Wen Yu a thumbs-up from nearby. Wen Yu merely shrugged.

The battle had seemed difficult, but in truth, it had gone entirely according to plan.

Split up the enemy forces, concentrate your own effective strength, and overwhelm them with superior numbers. It was such a simple tactic that even Wen Yu understood it.

The power of the Soul Realm was the foundation that allowed Wen Yu to outnumber his enemies!

In the distance, the Blood Beast had suddenly lost sight of Xing and was now circling through the air. Judging by its movements, it had clearly grown accustomed to flying.

Meanwhile, the Serpent Demon Seed had already entered the range of Demon City's Protective Shield. It looked down at Wen Yu and Kuangliu with a cold, resolute gaze. After a long moment, as if it had finally made up its mind, it turned and headed deeper into Demon City.
