Chapter 91 – A Magic Crystal Point Generator!

After gaining a rough understanding of the Bipedal Lizard's Skill and fighting style, Wen Yu immediately moved on to his next experiment.

He wanted to find out whether he could control a Bipedal Lizard created through Faceless's Split.

Truthfully, even before conducting the experiment, Wen Yu already had a bad feeling about the outcome.

That premonition stemmed from the strange psychic fluctuation he had sensed moments ago.

At Wen Yu's command, Faceless, still in the form of a Bipedal Lizard, began devouring the flesh in front of it.

The Bipedal Lizard species had enormous mouths and could eat at an astonishing speed. In less than a minute, Faceless had completely consumed the corpse of the Level 2 Bipedal Lizard before it. It even carefully licked clean the blood that had yet to seep into the soil.

Then, the Bipedal Lizard's Split Reproduction, which Wen Yu had previously only seen on video, unfolded before his eyes.

A huge lump bulged from the right side of Faceless's body. With a wet pop, it burst, spraying slime in every direction. A Level 2 Bipedal Lizard then crawled out from inside!

The moment it emerged, the revolting creature let out a soundless roar at Wen Yu. Its slick tongue shot straight toward his head!

Wen Yu caught the Bipedal Lizard's tongue in one hand. Power erupted from his arm as he yanked the newborn creature toward him, then crushed its skull beneath his foot.

"So it doesn't work…"

A faint, helpless sigh escaped Wen Yu's lips. He glanced at the dead Bipedal Lizard on the ground, having gained a new understanding of the species.

"Individual members of this species don't seem to possess any intelligence. The instant they're born, they don't even stop to examine their surroundings. They simply attack any nearby life-form that isn't one of their own kind!"

"But members of the Bipedal Lizard species don't attack each other. They'll only eat one of their own after it dies."

"And they can't undergo Promotion! At the very least, they can't undergo Promotion by devouring flesh!"

This was Wen Yu's greatest discovery!

Devouring flesh did not improve a Bipedal Lizard's Physical Attribute. It could only use the energy contained within that flesh for further "production."

This was a species whose sole purpose was reproduction!

Wen Yu carefully checked the message telling him how many Points he had gained. His eyes suddenly lit up!

Wen Yu carefully examined the Level 2 Bipedal Lizard that Faceless had produced and he had already stomped to death.

In terms of size, the Level 2 Bipedal Lizard was considerably smaller than Faceless, but its other physical characteristics were unchanged.

Wen Yu dug the Magic Crystal out of the dead Level 2 Bipedal Lizard. He looked first at the creature on the ground, then at the Magic Crystal in his hand.

The Magic Crystal was rather impure. Its Beast Attribute and Earth Attribute were mixed together, along with a trace of Dark Attribute. Its quality was terrible.

After casually turning the Magic Crystal over in his hand, Wen Yu immediately sent a psychic command to Faceless.

"Eat it!"

Upon receiving Wen Yu's order, Faceless immediately opened its enormous mouth and swallowed the Magic Crystal!

In less than a minute, another Level 2 Bipedal Lizard appeared before Wen Yu.

This time, Wen Yu couldn't even be bothered to act himself. He simply ordered Faceless to bite it to death.

The moment Faceless killed the newborn Bipedal Lizard, a clear Notification Tone rang out in Wen Yu's mind.

"Points gained: 232!"

"Just as I thought."

When he had killed the first newborn Bipedal Lizard, Wen Yu hadn't paid much attention to the message about the Points he had gained. After all, if he focused on the Notification Tone announcing each Point award during every battle, it would have driven him insane long ago!

Focusing his attention, Wen Yu immediately heard the Notification Tone announcing his reward.

That proved the Bipedal Lizards produced by Faceless were recognized by the Ruler as members of the Demon Race!

"Then what about their Magic Crystals…?"

The smile in Wen Yu's eyes grew wider. He had the distinct feeling that he had stumbled upon something incredible!

He dissected the Bipedal Lizard that had just died and extracted a Level 2 Magic Crystal from its brain.

Looking at the two Level 2 Magic Crystals in his hand, the corner of Wen Yu's eye twitched involuntarily.

It was his left eye…

"Now this is getting interesting."

Wen Yu lightly licked the corner of his mouth, then carefully examined the two Magic Crystals in his hand.

The second Magic Crystal was even lower in quality than the first! Its Attributes were so impure and jumbled that even Wen Yu could not help frowning.

"This piece of junk is barely any better than an Attribute-less Magic Crystal!"

Even so, it was still a Magic Crystal.

Wen Yu placed both Magic Crystals into his Spatial Ring, then sent out another mental command.

"Continue."

"Ding! You have received 165 Points."

The Point reward was lower than last time. This meant that the third Bipedal Lizard produced had a considerably lower Physical Attribute than the second.

After thinking for a moment, Wen Yu chose not to extract the Magic Crystal from the Bipedal Lizard's brain. Instead, he simply said,

"Continue!"

Faceless received the command and immediately swallowed the Bipedal Lizard's corpse whole.

Another Bipedal Lizard appeared before Wen Yu, only to be bitten to death by Faceless at once!

"Ding! You have received 165 Points."

"Just as I thought…"

Wen Yu stepped forward and extracted a third Magic Crystal, one of exceptionally poor quality.

Wen Yu had always wondered what Magic Crystals actually were. Now, it seemed the answer was clear.

"So-called Magic Crystals must be the concentrated essence of a living creature's energy."

This was only Wen Yu's rough speculation. After all, he was not highly educated, nor was he particularly skilled at research.

As he studied the Magic Crystal in his hand, Wen Yu spoke again.

"Continue!"

When Faceless devoured the corpse on the ground for the seventh time, no new Bipedal Lizard appeared.

Wen Yu was not surprised.

The main reason lay in the six Level 2 Magic Crystals in his hand.

Once the Magic Crystals had been removed, much of the Blood Essence in the corpse was lost. By now, there was not even enough left for Faceless to produce another Level 2 Bipedal Lizard.

In other words, the corpse of a single Level 2 Bipedal Lizard had provided Wen Yu with six Level 2 Magic Crystals and nearly a thousand Points!

Wen Yu looked at Faceless, the smile on his face growing wider and wider.

And this had only been a Level 3 Bipedal Lizard. Faceless was currently Level 4, which meant it could replicate a Level 4 Bipedal Lizard.

If so, the number of Magic Crystals and Points Wen Yu could obtain through Faceless would be far greater than what he had gained today!

Moreover, Faceless could undergo Promotion as well…

At that thought, Wen Yu jolted. He immediately raised his head and shouted toward the group in the distance,

"Wait! Leave some flesh for me!"
