Chapter 95 – The Offensive Begins!

Every day, Wen Yu made his routine circuit around Demon City, then hunted nearby for Points.

That was Wen Yu's routine for the entire week.

The days were uneventful, but the feeling of growing stronger every waking moment was utterly addictive.

His previous life had taught him more than the mindset and habits an ordinary person needed upon first entering the Apocalypse. It had shown him the greatest law of survival in this new world.

Strength made the rules. Fists decided who was right.

And nothing thrilled Wen Yu more than watching himself and his Soul Pets grow stronger by the day.

"I have to admit, the Military has really come through this time."

After that simple remark, Wen Yu mounted Xing and flew toward a distant Military squad that had been surrounded.

He would save these soldiers whenever he could.

The Military had helped him, so he would return the favor. That was a transaction-and the foundation of a sound partnership.

In the Treasure Land, where day and night did not exist, Wen Yu sat on the ground and ate in silence.

Bipedal Lizard corpses and blood covered the earth, but they did nothing to disturb his appetite.

Then again, if anyone tried to talk about appetite to a man chewing on a High-Protein Energy Bar that tasted like rubber, he would probably spit in their face.

He was only eating to replenish his energy.

One-Eye and Xing, by contrast, were enjoying a feast.

Over the past week, Wen Yu had heavily "taxed" both beasts' snacks. Between those low-level Magic Crystals and the enormous number of Points supplied by Faceless, he had exchanged for large quantities of Level 4 Beast Attribute Magic Crystals to strengthen Xing and One-Eye.

He had considered both Fire Attribute and Beast Attribute Magic Crystals before deciding what they should consume, but ultimately chose Beast Attribute.

Both beasts still relied primarily on close combat. They possessed Fire Attribute Skills, but those merely gave them one more means of attack.

He casually asked about their current Physical Attributes.

One-Eye had reached roughly 350 Points, while Xing was already approaching 400.

Wen Yu intended to wait until both beasts reached the Peak Level 4 before challenging the Promotion Trial. At their current rate of growth, that day would not be far away.

As Wen Yu considered how to allocate the Points he had left, the communicator tucked inside his clothes suddenly began to vibrate.

His heart tightened.

Several seconds passed, but the vibration did not stop. The signal was at the highest alert level.

And within the Outpost Treasure Land, there was only one possible reason for an alert of that severity.

Wen Yu pulled out the communicator and opened a channel to Kuangliu.

"What happened?"

Kuangliu's low voice came from the other end.

"They're moving… And…"

Ten minutes earlier, inside Demon City.

The Demon Seed sat high atop the head of a Level 5 Peak Baru Demon. With a casual gesture, he cast another Fog of War, restoring the thinning fog to its original density. Only then did he turn to the Black-skinned Demonic Creature beside him.

"Are you ready?"

The creature bowed its head submissively.

"Everything is ready, my lord."

The Demon Seed nodded in satisfaction, then looked back at Demon City beneath the Fog of War.

Through his eyes, countless Baru Demons, each roughly fifty meters long, lay motionless throughout the city. There were so many that they carpeted every inch beneath the fog. Some had even climbed atop others, stacking themselves into a vast pyramid of Baru Demons.

Their numbers were impossible to count.

And every last one was Level 5.

At the very center of the mass, a Level 5 Baru Demon carried a thirty-meter-tall cylindrical object on its back.

The Demon Qi Matrix.

The sight pleased the Demon Seed.

These were the Level 5 Baru Demons that had poured from the "black hole" over the course of a single week.

As for those below Level 4, the Demon Seed had already sent them outside to die.

After inspecting the army filling Demon City, he turned his gaze to the enormous pit in front of the Demon Realm Gate.

The pit was nearly a hundred meters across and so deep that its destination could not be seen. From time to time, Level 4 Baru Demons crawled into or out of its depths.

"Then let the operation begin!"

The Demon Seed's savage grin widened. All of Demon City seemed to come alive at once as the throaty croaks of Baru Demons rose without end.

Mass Strength Spell (A-Rank, Active Ability): Grants every unit within range the Great Strength effect, increasing stamina and strength by thirty percent for ten minutes.

Mass Haste Spell (A-Rank, Active Ability): Grants every unit within range the Haste effect, increasing speed by thirty percent for ten minutes.

Mass Stoneskin Spell (A-Rank, Active Ability): Grants every unit within range the Petrified Skin effect, strengthening their defenses for ten minutes.

With a sweep of the Demon Seed's hand, all three area-wide enhancements fell upon nearly every Baru Demon in the city.

Then the dreadful army moved.

A thick, slick tongue shot out and struck a drone circling beyond Demon City.

The small, precision-made machine could not withstand a single attack from a Level 5 Baru Demon. It plummeted from the sky.

But before it fell, the drone faithfully transmitted the last intelligence it had recorded to the Outpost's Strategic Command Center.

Countless Level 5 Baru Demons came surging out of Demon City in a massive, stacked pyramid. At their center stood a thirty-meter-tall black cylinder, the strange patterns across its surface flashing ceaselessly.

The Demon Qi Shield Generator could, in fact, be moved. The Military had discovered as much through reconnaissance, and the Demonic Creatures naturally understood their own device even better.

"Launch the missiles! Every missile we have-bring them down right on top of that formation!" Fang Wenhai shouted as soon as he saw the images.

But these Demonic Creatures were not the whole attack.

"Sir… Sir, we have a problem. Large numbers of Bipedal Lizards have suddenly emerged from underground along the edge of the encirclement. They're all Level 4…"

The communications officer's voice faded as he spoke. Even he understood what high-level Bipedal Lizards appearing without warning at the very front would do to the soldiers stationed there.
