Chapter 112 – Like What You See?
Volume 3: Rising Winds and Clouds
Inside the Yanjing Settlement, Lin Haifeng ended an international Satellite Communication call. He studied the battle report that had just arrived and rubbed his brow.
"The casualties are far worse than expected."
The ferocity of the Bipedal Lizard swarm had completely exceeded his projections.
Lin Haifeng drained the tea before him and frowned in thought.
After a long while, someone knocked at the office door. His newly appointed assistant entered.
"Commander Lin, Kaldor will open the Treasure Land entrance in one minute."
Lin Haifeng nodded.
"Inform Fang Wenhai. Forces from the United States, Russia, Europe, and Japan will all enter the Outpost. I have also transferred Sequence 5 there. Fang Wenhai is to coordinate them and prevent any trouble."
"Yes, sir."
The assistant saluted, then continued.
"Sir, there is one more matter. The Intelligence Department has made progress in its investigation of the Demon Worship Cult… Peng Jun may be involved."
Lin Haifeng nodded and waved the assistant away.
After careful consideration, he took out a communicator resembling a mobile phone. He hesitated for a long time before placing a call.
Beep… Beep…
The line continued ringing, but Lin Haifeng showed no impatience.
At last, a calm voice answered.
"Commander Lin, what is it?"
Violent explosions and the crack of breaking bones sounded behind the speaker's words.
Lin Haifeng hesitated before answering.
"We have results regarding the Demon Worship Cult… Its Headquarters may be located in the Modu Settlement."
The other end fell silent briefly.
"Understood. Please continue the investigation, Commander Lin. Once the intelligence is confirmed, I will act immediately."
The speaker paused.
"By the way, I heard there was trouble in your Outpost Treasure Land. Are you certain you don't need my help?"
"We don't."
"Good. And don't contact me for a while. I'm very busy here. When I have time, I'll return to Huaxia and deal with the Demon Worship Cult."
The call ended.
Lin Haifeng remained alone in his office, his expression shifting as unknown thoughts passed through his mind.
…
Inside the Outpost, Teleportation brought the blue-eyed blonde through the Treasure Land entrance. Fang Wenhai finally saw the foreign newcomer clearly.
She stood at least one hundred eighty centimeters tall. A skintight black combat suit displayed every line of her graceful figure.
There was no mistaking it. She was a striking Western bombshell.
Long golden hair fell over her shoulders with an almost metallic sheen. Pale skin and alluring red lips radiated a dangerous charm.
Only the enormous metal case strapped to her back slightly spoiled the overall effect.
When she noticed Fang Wenhai and the others looking her up and down, the blonde gave him an enchanting smile. She thrust out her chest and gave the two generous curves beneath her suit a slight bounce.
Her red lips parted.
"Hey, guys. Like what you see?"
"Ahem."
Fang Wenhai understood English. His weathered face reddened, and he coughed hard twice.
Beside him, Cao Ling swallowed as he stared at the blonde.
"That Western bombshell… Those legs, those tits, that ass, that face… I could have fun with her for the rest of my life!"
The crude remark earned him an elbow from Fang Wenhai.
"Keep your voice down. You're too loud!"
Cao Ling continued muttering, though much more quietly.
"She doesn't understand Chinese…"
After dealing with the roughneck, Fang Wenhai turned back to the blonde and addressed her in English.
"Welcome, our friend from abroad. I am Fang Wenhai, commander of the Outpost."
After the brief introduction, he studied her again.
The woman was carefully observing the Class Holders passing through the Outpost and the few Bipedal Lizard corpses still on the ground. At Fang Wenhai's words, she turned and smiled.
"Hello, everyone!"
The greeting was in English. What followed came in crisp, flawless Chinese.
"My name is Claire. I am the strongest member of the United States Military-and Human Sequence 6!"
Claire looked at Cao Ling and covered her mouth with a faint laugh.
"Warrior, I happen to like strong men like you…"
Fang Wenhai and the others stared, speechless.
After a long moment, Cao Ling murmured, "Was I just hit on…?"
…
Before anyone could say more, soldiers in United States Military uniforms flooded through the Treasure Land entrance. Large quantities of heavy firepower arrived with them.
Fang Wenhai frowned but said nothing.
Before the Apocalypse, the United States had been the world's only superpower. Combined with its role as the self-appointed "world police," its Military possessed firepower and equipment a level above Huaxia's.
Its Class Holders, however, were now far inferior in quality to the Military forces already stationed here.
Claire was the only Level 4 Class Holder among them. Every other soldier was Peak Level 3 at best.
The Military had controlled the Outpost Treasure Land for more than half a month, and the benefits were evident.
When Fang Wenhai offered no objection, Claire nodded.
"These are preparations for the coming war. I hope you don't mind, Mr. Fang."
Fang Wenhai hesitated, then waved a hand dismissively.
Claire smiled twice and strode toward him on her long legs.
Her red lips brushed close to his ear. In a sultry whisper, she asked, "Then, Mr. Fang, would you mind showing me around the Outpost?"
She remained intimately close, studying Fang Wenhai's eyes. Her pale fingers traced slowly up and down his chest as a pink tongue slipped out to moisten her lips.
