Apocalypse Summoning Frenzy Volume 1 Chapter 16

Chaos at the Police Station

Chapter 16 – Chaos at the Police Station

Volume 1: Apocalypse Beginning

A gust of wind swept by, lifting a pile of scattered trash and tattered scraps of clothing.

Ever since Wen Yu had heard news about the Police Station, he hadn't cared that night had fallen, and rushed swiftly toward the Police Station.

In a non-Combat State, with physical abilities three times that of a normal person, Wen Yu possessed unparalleled speed. Sprinting through the city, Wen Yu rediscovered a long-lost sense of freedom.

"As expected, in this world, only the strong have the right to talk about freedom and life."

Recalling everything that had happened since the beginning of the Apocalypse-whether it was the invitation from the Guardian Squad or the thrill of having just become the Ruler of someone's life and death-Wen Yu couldn't help but sink deeper into it.

"Why do I seek strength? It's for this feeling: freedom, being the master of my own life, even ruling over the lives of others. So, get stronger, young man. I'm still far from enough."

Wen Yu silently cheered himself on. Since fate had given him a second chance and a perfect start, what reason did he have not to fight for the future he wanted?

The closer he got to the Police Station, the more bloodstains appeared on the ground. Blood splattered everywhere, clearly telling everyone that a terrifying battle had taken place here.

But what puzzled Wen Yu most was that as he got closer to the Police Station, there were actually fewer corpses on the ground, and the Zombies gradually disappeared without a trace.

It was well known that these mindless creatures, without a leader, wouldn't gather together in a short time. They would only wander aimlessly within a certain range.

Unless…

Wen Yu thought of a possibility.

He stopped heading directly for the Police Station and instead circled around, climbing up a nearby office building close to the Police Station.

Standing by a window on the tenth floor, Wen Yu looked down.

What lay before Wen Yu was like an action blockbuster.

Countless Zombies filled the entire street, surging toward the entrance of the Police Station. In the horde, trampling incidents occurred from time to time. Zombies with poor motor skills, once tripped by their companions, would be trampled into pulp by those following behind.

What Wen Yu found most ridiculous was the battle taking place at the entrance of the Police Station.

Countless Zombies were about to burst the doors of the Police Station, but their opponents-a large group of Giant Rats that had taken over the Police Station-were instead leaping nimbly among the Zombies.

With their gray, dusty fur, the unevolved Zombies couldn't get a grip on them. The agile bodies of the rats made fools of the Zombies, causing chaos. Not only did the rats evade capture, but they also knocked down nearby Zombies, and once a Zombie fell, it could never get up again.

These Giant Rats were the size of house cats, and their mutated incisors frantically tore at the rotting flesh of the Zombies.

Though the taste was poor, the virus in Zombie flesh was an essential nutrient for the evolution of mutant creatures.

It was obvious that the severed limbs and remains on the ground were being gnawed on by a large group of newly evolved rats. The food they couldn't finish was dragged by the rats into the Police Station. Judging by the bloodstains at the entrance, there must have been at least eight hundred or a thousand Zombies that had fallen there, but now, aside from the bloodstains, there were hardly any corpses left.

Wen Yu stood at a vantage point, carefully observing the surroundings.

Clearly, such a massive Zombie horde could not have formed naturally. No matter how much commotion there was in the Police Station, it couldn't have attracted Zombies on this scale.

Moreover, judging by the movement patterns of the Zombies and the traces in the distance, it was obvious that humans had deliberately lured them to the front entrance of the Police Station.

"But, how foolish."

Looking at the situation below, Wen Yu couldn't help but sigh.

Ignorance leads to disaster.

Whoever came up with this idea, it was a foolish one.

Wen Yu watched helplessly as, at the entrance of the Police Station, a previously unmutated rat devoured a Zombie's arm. Its body rapidly expanded, growing to more than three times its original size in the blink of an eye, successfully evolving into a Mutant Rat.

This was exactly why Wen Yu thought this idea was foolish.

In the Apocalypse, numbers don't mean everything. The so-called strength in unity has, to some extent, become a joke.

Thousands of Zombies, crowded into narrow streets, would be completely devoured by just a few hundred Mutant Rats. This could even give rise to a Level 2 or Level 3 Rat King, which is the truly terrifying outcome.

Originally, Wen Yu's plan was to enter the Police Station. Finding Guns was a secondary goal; killing Mutant Rats was the main objective. Although Mutant Rats are difficult to kill, at this stage, only a few could evolve into Level 1 Mutant Creatures.

Most were just newly mutated, lacking potential, stuck between ordinary creatures and Level 1 Mutant Creatures, becoming awkward Level 0 Mutant Creatures.

These Little Ones also yield Points.

If Wen Yu could position himself well, fighting while retreating, and with the F-Rank Protective Suit as armor,

The entire Police Station's Mutant Rats could definitely allow Wen Yu to reach the peak of Level 1 Class Holder, with a physical attribute of 10, ensuring he could make a fortune in the Treasure Land of Riverside Park.

But now?

"I still need to come up with a plan."

Wen Yu squinted, carefully observing the number and quality of Mutant Rats in the Police Station.

There were many-just outside the Police Station, nearly a hundred rats were biting and tearing at everything, and a tenth of them were Level 1 Mutant Rats.

Whenever a Mutant Rat was injured or had its fill, a new Mutant Rat would rush out to replace it.

This small rat swarm already showed the beginnings of tactical behavior.

According to Wen Yu's calculations, faced with this number of Rat Tide, even if he entered the Police Station, survival would be impossible.

Moreover, seeing how organized the rats were, there was likely already a Big One inside-a Level 2 Mutant Beast.

"This stage is a bit too early."

Wen Yu bared his teeth, his earlier pride instantly extinguished by the rats.

It was only now that Wen Yu realized:

In the Apocalypse, humans are never the protagonists.

"Forget about Guns and Bulletproof Vests." Wen Yu immediately changed his plan. With countless Zombies charging into the Police Station and not a single sound coming out, Wen Yu knew there was no way to get inside. Guns and Bulletproof Vests simply weren't worth any risk.

"But these Points are clearly worth fighting for."

Watching the Zombies downstairs lining up to die, Wen Yu's spirits lifted. This time, even if he didn't go after the rats, killing Zombies would also earn Points.

He carefully observed the horde below.

Level 1 Zombies already possessed basic intelligence. Clearly sensing the battle ahead, these creatures wouldn't approach, and it was extremely difficult to attract Level 1 Zombies intentionally. As a result, there were very few Level 1 Zombies among such a massive horde.

The enormous Zombie horde was divided into sections by countless buildings. Acting purely on instinct, they could only hear the scent of mutant flesh and the howls of their companions from the Police Station ahead, without considering anything else, pushing forward mindlessly-even if it meant trampling countless comrades to death.

This scene made Wen Yu's face twitch. That's all money, after all.

Rushing downstairs, Wen Yu decided to go all out-at the very least, he had to carve out a piece of flesh from the mouths of those Giant Rats.
