Chapter 125 – The Rout!

Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

When the Little One completed its transformation, its previously fragile appearance vanished completely. In its place, a massive creature lay quietly beside the Ancient Tree.

A pair of vertical pupils stared fixedly at the Giant Eagle circling in the sky, causing the bird's heart to tighten!

Waves of danger signals emanated from the Black Crystal on its forehead, prompting the Giant Eagle to scrutinize the creature below-a beast it had never seen before!

Its body was nearly ten meters long, and even while lying down, it stood three meters high. A suit of black scales shimmered with a cold luster, and two curved horns, reminiscent of a bull's, rose high from its forehead.

A tail covered in black scales lashed back and forth, its immense power stirring up gusts of wind. Within its massive maw were rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Its snake-like vertical pupils stared coldly at the circling Giant Eagle, and then…

A thunderous roar erupted from the monster's mouth!

The sound was so violent that it caused a commotion among the Mutant Beasts guarding the Ancient Tree!

As the roar echoed into the distance, the monster unfurled its wings!

With a fierce rush of wind, the creature slowly ascended into the sky, hurtling toward the Giant Eagle!

"Skree…"

The Giant Eagle let out a shrill cry. Facing the approaching monster, coldness and murderous intent surged in its eyes!

Now, it was a duel between Kings.

The victor would claim everything!

There was no possibility of retreat!

The powers of frost and flame intertwined continuously. Accompanied by violent energy fluctuations, the monster's wild roars and the Giant Eagle's shrieks echoed incessantly.

In the sky, the blood of the two Kings sprayed through the air!

This was a contest that would decide the fate of this land!

The great battle raged on, while the Mutant Beasts below had already retreated far away!

Setting aside the frost and lava raining down from above, the roars of the two monsters alone were more than any Level 2 creature could withstand.

The sound traveled far, and the dark sky flashed continuously with white and red light, waking the sleeping people in the distant Settlement!

"What's going on?"

In the open space of the Settlement below, nearly all the Survivors were looking toward the distance, whispering among themselves.

"Younger Brother Wen Yu."

Seeing Wen Yu appear, Zhang Wenhu immediately walked over and handed him a cigarette.

"Can you tell what's happening?"

Wen Yu exhaled a ring of smoke, watching the energy fluctuations erupting in the distance, and nodded slightly.

"By my estimate, it should be two Mutant Beasts fighting."

Zhang Wenhu clicked his tongue.

"The strength of those two brutes is certainly not low!"

Wen Yu nodded.

In truth, Wen Yu didn't need to say anything. Just by looking at the distant tremors and the vast reaches of white and red light in the sky, anyone could sense how powerful those two Mutant Beasts were!

According to Wen Yu's estimation, even just one of them possessed strength nearly equal to his own.

His own strength here had to include One-Eye as well!

"Wait a moment. Once the battle is over, I'll go take a look," Wen Yu said to Zhang Wenhu.

Upon hearing Wen Yu's words, Zhang Wenhu's eyes immediately lit up.

To this small Settlement, those two monsters were an absolute nightmare. But to Wen Yu, they were merely a somewhat tricky problem.

More importantly, now that Wen Yu's strength had reached Level 3, he didn't have a Soul Pet in his Third Soul Realm yet!

Either of those two Mutant Beasts in the distance was definitely qualified to be his third Soul Pet!

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Younger Brother Wen Yu," Zhang Wenhu said with a beaming smile.

Wen Yu simply gave a slight shrug. He wasn't doing this as a favor to anyone.

By the time the Giant Eagle used its Dark Rebirth ability for the umpteenth time, it knew it had lost this fight.

The hideous wounds on its body healed at an incredible speed, but it could feel its physical stamina draining rapidly. Looking at the monster before it-which was covered in scars but still full of vigor-the Giant Eagle didn't hesitate. It turned and fled!

Losing the battle meant losing its King Status, but as long as it didn't lose its life, everything else could be managed.

During the fight, the Giant Eagle had sensed that in terms of pure flight speed, that terrifying monster couldn't keep up. After all, eagles still held the advantage when it came to speed in the air!

Watching the Giant Eagle fly further and further away, the monster stayed where it was and did not pursue. The outcome of the battle was clear, and besides, it couldn't catch up.

When two beings have similar strength, killing the opponent is extremely difficult, especially when the opponent is hell-bent on escaping.

"Roar…"

A massive roar echoed through the distance, announcing to the Mountain Forest that a new Overlord had arrived!

"It's over."

Wen Yu spoke in a low voice as he watched the energy fluctuations in the distance gradually dissipate.

"Wait here for a bit. I'm going into the Mountain Forest to take a look."

After greeting Sun Ruixing and Zhang Wenhu, Wen Yu directly opened his Second Soul Realm and summoned One-Eye.

The Giant Eagle soared through the sky, glancing back briefly at the site of the recent battle. A cold, hateful light flashed in its eyes!

But for now, its stamina had dropped to a dangerous level. Forget activating Dark Rebirth again; even the act of flying made the Giant Eagle feel a wave of physical weakness.

"Time to find some food. Not far away, there are still plenty of humans!"
