Chapter 43 – Zombies Assault the Camp (Part ③)

Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

"Hurry up-run!"

Seeing that the Zombies had already begun filling in the pit regardless of casualties, Zang Pengfei immediately shouted his orders.

Fortunately, the Class Holders weren't like those Ordinary People who didn't even dare to fight. When they saw the Zombies jumping into the pit, they didn't panic much; they simply turned around and ran toward the rear of the Camp.

With no Level 2 Zombie present, as long as these Class Holders could get out of the Zombie King's line of sight, there was a pretty good chance they could make it out.

As the Class Holders continued to withdraw, the Zombie King instantly flew into a rage.

What had he led his subordinates here for today? To destroy this Camp; to avenge the underlings he had painstakingly cultivated; to kill that human who had gone on a slaughter in his territory this morning.

Yet now, after all this, he hadn't killed many humans, but he had lost both of his last two capable assistants!

That made him look unbelievably stupid!

Losing substance was one thing-what mattered most was losing face.

Absolutely unacceptable.

At last, anger overcame instinct.

The Zombie King took several steps back and let out a violent roar. Then, with a powerful drive from his legs, like a war chariot, the Zombie King charged forward.

His burly physique gave him terrifying explosive power. With a hard push off his right leg, his huge body leapt into the air, and in the blink of an eye he surged across the line of flames.

He landed on the other side with ease. A look of realization flashed through the Zombie King's eyes: "So the trench is this narrow. If I'd thought of it earlier, that would've been enough."

The Zombie King turned his head and looked at the few who still remained, the ones who hadn't managed to run.

One-Eye, Zang Pengfei, Sun Aotian, and Sun Ruixing.

The murderous aura of the Zombie King made the pores of the last few people tighten.

One-Eye reacted first. The Zombie King in front of him was absolutely not an existence he couldn't fight!

One-Eye's current Physical Attribute was around 15 Points, and that forceful leap just now had already more or less exposed the Zombie King's Physical Attribute.

Around 40 Points! Not yet Level 3!

But Zombies don't have Skills!

Fierce flames scorched One-Eye's body. His strong Physical Attribute dulled the pain considerably.

But fire and water show no mercy-and One-Eye had long fur!

As the long fur on One-Eye's body burned into flying ash, it was like charcoal, dealing secondary damage to his outer hide. The flames began to lick at his skin-and at the same time, in the fire pit, One-Eye also faced attacks from Zombies that had jumped in and couldn't get out.

The attacks of Low-Level Zombie struck One-Eye but couldn't pierce his skin at all; instead, One-Eye's counterattacks made the Low-Level Zombie die one after another!

The remaining few people and the Zombie King stared blankly at One-Eye's "suicidal act." Confusion flashed in the Zombie King's eyes, while in the eyes of the others, there was only despair.

That Big Dog had actually been scared into a breakdown by the Zombie King, and the Zombie King would absolutely not jump straight into the fire pit like One-Eye did. In other words, the few of them would become the Zombie King's primary targets.

Sun Aotian was the first to react. He turned around and ran. With 12 Points of Physical Attribute, Sun Aotian's short figure darted forward as fast as a rabbit.

Sun Ruixing had just picked up his shield, about to shout to the remaining two, "You go first-I'll cover the rear!"

He never expected Sun Aotian to run off immediately. He then glanced at Zang Pengfei.

Zang Pengfei gave Sun Ruixing an apologetic look, pulled a scroll from his chest, and tore it open hard.

As a flash of white light passed, Zang Pengfei's figure vanished on the spot!

"Hah."

Sun Ruixing gave a bitter smile. He didn't blame the two of them; this was a dead end anyway-if one could get away, that counted as one.

It was just that this time, he was definitely going to die. But laying down his weapons and waiting for the enemy's judgment was absolutely not Sun Ruixing's style. He decisively took up the Steel Blade and shield, and looked at the Giant Zombie King with a resolute expression.

This Zombie King simply didn't take Soul Strike!

Ordinary Zombies are nothing but a bunch of dead people; naturally, they have no souls, so they won't be affected by Soul Strike.

And Wen Yu's encounters with Level 2 Zombies had been limited. Each time, he ended the fight quickly, and he'd never observed whether higher-level Zombies were affected by Soul Strike.

Maybe they were, maybe they weren't!

The current situation wasn't outside expectations. So-called Zombies-no matter if they developed intelligence-were still nothing more than soulless walking corpses.
