Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

"Roar!"

One-Eye had barely regained his footing when a roar erupted from his throat, Tyrannical Flame churning within his maw.

A pillar of black fire blasted directly at the Ancient Demon, who was just about to lunge toward Wen Yu. The strike forced the Ancient Demon back slightly, and One-Eye, digging his claws into the ground, charged at him once more!

And once more, he was sent flying!

Despite his minor injuries, One-Eye stood no chance against the Ancient Demon; he was utterly powerless.

The Ancient Demon narrowed his eyes, watching as One-Eye stood up yet again.

"Hehehe… so you're the strongest one here after all!"

A twisted, eerie voice rasped from the Ancient Demon's mouth. He licked his lips and tilted his head slightly, glancing at Wen Yu, who was already locked in combat with the spider-like Demonic Creature. Then, he turned back, his gaze fixed intently on the plaster-like, grayish-white wounds covering One-Eye's body.

"In that case, I'll slaughter you first!"

The moment the Ancient Demon finished speaking, a cloud of dust erupted beneath his feet. His entire body shot forward like a cannonball, straight at One-Eye.

A massive shadow loomed over One-Eye, followed by a fist brimming with raw power.

Boom!

One-Eye's head took the blow as if hit by a missile; it was smashed into the ground instantly. The impact kicked up a massive cloud of dust, obscuring everyone's vision.

From the center of the dust cloud, only the rhythmic, sickening sound of fists striking flesh could be heard.

"Hold on! Just hold on!"

Wen Yu's heart wrenched at the sounds of the struggle, but he forced the feeling aside immediately.

He could only pray that One-Eye was durable enough to withstand the Ancient Demon's assault. Aside from One-Eye, there was no one else capable of facing that monster.

Splat.

A stream of green liquid sprayed toward Wen Yu's head, but he dodged it just in time.

Greed's Touch extended to a meter in length. With a burst of speed, Wen Yu lunged toward the Spider Demon.

Clang.

He swung Greed's Touch downward, but the Spider Demon parried the blow with its sharp claws.

Seeing a flash of dazed confusion in the Spider Demon's pale green eyes, Wen Yu struck again with his left hand!

This time, trapped in the effects of Soul Strike, the Spider Demon couldn't react in time.

Slash.

The sound of rending flesh echoed.

The Spider Demon's bloated abdomen was ripped open by Greed's Touch, spilling foul-smelling internal organs across the ground.

"Screee!"

A piercing shriek caused Wen Yu's vision to blur.

[Sonic Interference (B-Rank, Active Skill): Emits a shrill sonic wave to interfere with the enemy's mobility.]

This skill functioned similarly to Soul Strike.

Of course, as the victim, Wen Yu's current state was anything but pleasant.

While Wen Yu's vision was blurred, the sheer agony allowed the Spider Demon to break free from the Soul Strike. Its injuries were already fatal!

However, the Spider Demon was clearly an experienced combatant. Instead of rushing to inflict a few wounds on Wen Yu, it used its eight long legs to retreat a great distance in an instant.

Simultaneously, it activated another ability.

[Limb Regeneration (A-Rank, Active Skill): Consumes a large amount of stamina to heal all wounds on the body, even allowing for the regrowth of lost organs!]

A thick green mucus secreted from the Spider Demon's wounds. As the mucus hardened, it began to take the shape of the lost internal organs.

The gruesome, gaping wounds healed at a visible rate. In less than three seconds, the Spider Demon was fully recovered!

By then, Wen Yu had only just managed to close the distance again.

Another stream of green liquid shot out.

[Venom Spray (E-Rank, Active Skill): All poisonous creatures love using this move. ]

It was a very ordinary Skill, but the rank of a Skill didn't determine everything. When given to a Spider Demon, this ability was clearly a perfect match.

Wen Yu didn't dare let a single drop of the liquid touch him, twisting his head just in time to dodge the venom.

Then, the Spider Demon's eight long legs retreated once more. It opened its massive maw and spat another glob of venom!

During their brief exchange, Wen Yu had already realized that the Spider Demon's Physical Attributes were roughly equal to his own.

However, he had just been injured, while the Spider Demon had eight long legs!

This was a form of Racial Advantage!

The Spider Demon's mobility was significantly better than Wen Yu's current state. Even with the speed boost from Shadow Step, Wen Yu could only barely keep up with it.

Bang!

A flash of fire erupted in the distance.

Big Bear had already found a sniping position and begun providing fire support!

This shot was aimed at William's opponent!

As the gunshot echoed, Wen Yu used his peripheral vision to check the surrounding battlefield.

Chu Ziling was leading a Bull Demon in circles.

The Bull Demon's Physical Attributes were over 30 Points higher than Chu Ziling's, but Chu Ziling was faster. That particular fight wouldn't be decided anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Jiang Wentao was already suppressing his opponent!

Among the five Demonic Creatures, Jiang Wentao's opponent was the weakest. It was likely a Demonic Creature that had only just reached Level 3, and its Skill synergy and combat experience were clearly far inferior to Jiang Wentao's.

The one having the hardest time was William.

William's opponent was that hideous Bone Demon. Every time the red flame on its forehead flickered, a massive ring of fire would erupt from its body.

William had originally been clad in heavy armor, but unexpectedly, it had become a hindrance!

The thermal conductivity of full-body steel plate armor was practically perfect.

William looked like a giant shrimp in an oven, steam rising from his entire body!

Big Bear's shot slammed directly into the Bone Demon's chest.

The skeletal frame at its chest shattered instantly, revealing the pitch-black body beneath the bone armor.

Another shot rang out, the target still the Bone Demon!

"Roar!"

A roar erupted from the Bone Demon's mouth, transforming into a fierce shockwave that sent the approaching William flying backward!

The red light on the Bone Demon's head flashed again.

[Repelling Fire Ring (Rank B, Active Skill): Emits a ring of fire centered on the Host's body. The fire ring possesses extreme destructive power and repels enemies within range!]

The Bone Demon's Physical Attributes were around 150 Points. William had already activated his King's Dignity Skill to fight it, but he was still no match!

Blasted away by two consecutive knockback abilities, William struggled on the ground for a long time before he could barely scramble back to his feet!

This was Big Bear's third shot!

This bullet forcibly blasted open the bone armor on the Bone Demon's head, sending black blood splattering everywhere.

This hit was nearly fatal!

The Bone Demon couldn't even control its own body, dropping to one knee instantly.

"Er… urgh…"

An unintelligible sound emerged from the Bone Demon's throat.

It sounded like two pieces of scrap metal grinding together, making everyone present feel a wave of revulsion.

"Hehehe."

Black blood flowed continuously from the wound on its head. Its sole remaining pitch-black right eye stared fixedly at the newly risen William. The coldness and brutality in its gaze were clear as day.

"For… the Demon Race!"
