Chapter 28 – Demon Dragon

The Black-Robed Man first looked at One-Eye, then at Simba beneath him.

Simba's neck was one complete Tear, his head and body connected by only a thin layer of skin.

Across his massive body, hideous wounds had ripped his belly wide open.

Caught completely off guard by that "ambush," Simba's most vulnerable area had endured One-Eye's most savage assault.

The organs inside his abdomen had spilled all over the ground, and blood was still gushing in streams from the exposed vessels in Simba's body.

From a ten-meter-tall body, the sheer amount of blood that poured out could only be described as a river of blood.

And this Level 4 Mutant Beast-a creature that, at the current stage, represented an Invincible existence-had died just like that!

Watching One-Eye bite up Simba's heart and swallow it whole, the Black-Robed Man gulped hard and immediately activated his third ability.

Life–Stamina Equivalent Exchange (A-Rank, Active Ability): Consumes the activity within the body's cells, which can also be understood as life force, to rapidly restore stamina. There are no usage restrictions, but be careful. The price you pay may not be visible now, but one day, you will regret it!

Remember: there is no love without reason, and no reward without cost!

This ability paired extremely well with Teleportation.

It was also the ability the leader of the Demon Worship Cult had bestowed upon the Black-Robed Man.

In truth, all the Apostles' abilities had been bestowed by the cult leader!

And in the current situation, the Black-Robed Man could no longer afford to care about something as so-called life force.

When your actual life was almost gone, who would still feel sorry over something so vague and intangible?

The ability took effect at tremendous speed. The stamina that had nearly been drained dry recovered rapidly. Then, as he watched One-Eye stare fixedly at him while slowly arching its body, the Black-Robed Man swiftly used Teleportation. In the blink of an eye, he vanished without a trace!

Seeing the Black-Robed Man disappear before him, One-Eye tried hard to distinguish the scents in the air.

Unfortunately, there was no scent. Perhaps something like Teleportation simply left no smell behind.

One-Eye first sensed Wen Yu's location, then briefly communicated with Wen Yu before sprawling over Simba's body and digging in.

The battle was over. Now came Dog-Ge's favorite part!

Collecting the spoils!!!

While One-Eye and Simba fought their way farther and farther from Wen Yu's battlefield, Star had also grabbed Fake One-Eye and flown around to the back side of the mountain.

Star understood One-Eye's abilities completely. Although he had never fought One-Eye before, Star would never underestimate One-Eye's combination of abilities.

It was a set of Skills purely born for battle, and meant to die in battle!

Especially since the Fake One-Eye before him had no intelligence!

No intelligence meant no thoughts whatsoever. It also meant the Fake One-Eye before him would have absolutely no regard for its own life!

A creature that did not fear death would inevitably possess a terrifying capacity for destruction!

Not to mention, this was a death-defying One-Eye!!!

Star's wings beat rapidly. Enduring the burning sensation of the Tyrannical Flame coming from his claws, he soon found a suitable place.

It was a large stretch of farmland on the back side of the mountain.

There were no tall trees here. For a flying creature like Star, trees were an obstruction that interfered with battle.

Star dropped Fake One-Eye onto the ground, then flew straight up into the sky and looked down at Fake One-Eye as it roared endlessly in place.

In Star's eyes, a trace of heat slowly emerged, mixed with brutality.

One-Eye and Star were both Wen Yu's Soul Pets, so naturally, they would never truly fight each other.

But as long as something was alive, it would want to decide who was stronger and who was weaker against other living creatures! No matter how close their relationship was!

That was called competition!

Even if that creature was One-Eye.

Under normal circumstances, Star would never have had any reason to fight One-Eye, so there would naturally be no way to determine which of them was stronger. But now, things had changed!

A creature with combat power identical to One-Eye's had actually appeared!

As a member of the Divine Beast Species, Star was unquestionably proud!

So this time, Star decided to use every ounce of its power to send this Fake One-Eye straight to hell!!!

Raging Tyrannical Flame surged from Fake One-Eye's body, rapidly shifting into the shape of armor that enveloped its entire body.

This was a special method of using Tyrannical Flame. As an SS Rank Elemental Ability, Tyrannical Flame's applications were far more varied than a mere A-Rank Flame Flow could ever compare to!

From this alone, it was clear that Fake One-Eye's mastery in applying its Skills was a notch above the real One-Eye's.

Black armor flickered with leaping flames as tremendous heat churned around it, then its form changed again in an instant!

Countless spikes condensed from black flame burst out from the black armor, then shot toward Star!

Fake One-Eye had actually launched the first attack against Star!

Star looked at the incoming black spikes, a flash of arrogance passing through its eyes.

Right now, the Fake One-Eye on the ground did not have many injuries. Its Physical Attribute was only a little over 200 Point, roughly equal to Star's. Under these circumstances, if Star still needed to dodge, it would be unworthy of the title of Divine Beast Species!

"Roar!!!"

A violent roar erupted from Star's mouth. Then red light surged, and a massive pillar of Dragon Flame blasted downward at Fake One-Eye from above.

Both its scale and the heat it radiated were far, far beyond the fire pillars spat out by One-Eye or Simba!

Faced with that overwhelming Dragon Flame, the black-flame spikes Fake One-Eye had fired were directly blasted apart into Annihilation. Then the Dragon Flame poured straight onto Fake One-Eye's body.

And Fake One-Eye did not move an inch!

The Demon Worship Cult's Sacred Beast was indeed bizarre. Although it possessed no intelligence, its ability to apply Skills was even stronger than the original's!

The flames drenched Fake One-Eye's body, instantly causing the black armor surrounding Fake One-Eye to vanish. Then they began burning Fake One-Eye's flesh, producing a constant sizzling, scorching sound.

Its gray fur was instantly vaporized by the Dragon Flame. Then its gray hide also began to char little by little. Bathed in the Dragon Flame that filled the sky, Fake One-Eye slowly fixed both eyes on Star.

Within those eyes, killing intent and battle will were brewing to the extreme!

Star remained in the sky while Fake One-Eye stayed on the ground. Neither of them did anything more. Only the repeated sizzling of burning flesh echoed through the air.

Fake One-Eye was waiting-waiting for the Life-And-Death Combat Ability to raise its Physical Attribute to the limit!

Star was waiting as well!

Waiting until Fake One-Eye pushed its Physical Attribute to the utmost, so it could then decide the victor against One-Eye at peak condition!

For a time, the entire battlefield fell into an eerie silence!

A figure appeared at the outer edge of the battlefield at tremendous speed, suspended in midair.

It was the Black-Robed Man!

As he watched Fake One-Eye and Star locked in their standoff, the corners of the Black-Robed Man's eyes twitched violently twice.

The Black-Robed Man's purpose in coming here was naturally to retrieve the Demon Worship Cult's Sacred Beast. After all, an existence of this level was absolutely not something the Demon Worship Cult could afford to lose, no matter how deep its foundations were!

Unfortunately, after glancing at Star hovering in the sky, then at the Dragon Flame enveloping Fake One-Eye's body, the Black-Robed Man made an immediate decision. He turned and slipped into the Mountain Forest. He had no desire to get involved in a battle between these two monsters, and with his strength, it would be extremely difficult for him to do so anyway!

The moment the Black-Robed Man entered the combat zone, Star would absolutely not be stingy with a mouthful of Dragon Flame.

And if the Black-Robed Man were struck by Star's Dragon Flame, it would be very difficult for him to withstand it!

Therefore, waiting for an opportunity outside the battlefield was, for the Black-Robed Man, the best possible choice!
