Chapter 5 – Rampage All the Way

Volume 3: Rising Winds and Clouds

The next day.

The sky had just cleared when a large group of children emerged from the underground space, yawning.

In peaceful times, the morning routine consisted of four things: using the bathroom, brushing teeth, washing faces, and eating breakfast. These children had forcibly condensed it into a single task.

Or sometimes, none at all.

Of course, none of that mattered. It was the Apocalypse; few people cared about personal hygiene anymore.

Wen Yu didn't have the habit of playing babysitter, either.

Watching the large group of children surrounding One-Eye and Xing, chattering away without end, Wen Yu couldn't help but rub his forehead.

As expected, brats were the biggest hassle!

When they learned from Zhang Xiao that Wen Yu intended to take everyone to Central City, the scene fell into an eerie silence.

"What's wrong? You don't want to go?"

Wen Yu looked seriously at the hesitant children before him and couldn't help but ask.

"It's not that. But…"

Zheng Ye's eyes darted away.

"We can't afford the Entry Fee…"

A child behind Zheng Ye whispered the group's concern.

"I told you, if you go with me, you don't need to pay an Entry Fee," Wen Yu said with certainty.

"Central City doesn't have a rule about waiving the Entry Fee. If you do that, Big Brother, you'll definitely get into a conflict with the people from Central City."

As Zheng Ye spoke, his voice grew louder.

"You treated us to roasted meat yesterday, Big Brother, and we're already very satisfied. If this is going to cause you trouble, we'd rather not go to Central City. We can live perfectly well here."

"Right?"

"Right!!!"

A chorus of high-pitched, youthful voices echoed behind Zheng Ye.

Zhang Xiao remained silent on the side.

Obviously, for Zhang Xiao, obtaining permanent residency in Central City was a stroke of incredible luck!

As for troubling Wen Yu?

As an adult, Zhang Xiao didn't consider such things.

Wen Yu looked quietly at the determined and stubborn Zheng Ye. After a long moment, he broke into a happy smile.

Hearing Wen Yu's words, Zheng Ye hesitated for a long while before finally nodding.

Watching the Kid Army begin to pack their things, Wen Yu pulled a cigarette from his Spatial Ring and slowly lit it.

Once the Kid Army had finished packing everything, Wen Yu turned and walked straight out of the Camp.

Xing lay quietly on top of Wen Yu's head, its tail constantly poking at the Little Soul Beast on Wen Yu's shoulder, causing the Little Soul Beast to cry out incessantly in Wen Yu's mind.

"One-Eye, grow!"

At Wen Yu's command, One-Eye's body surged. Within a mere second, One-Eye had returned to his normal ten-meter-tall state.

"Let's go. Lead the way."

Following Wen Yu's order, Zhang Xiao walked directly to the front of One-Eye and headed toward the Central City Settlement.

Behind him, Wen Yu leaped with a powerful thrust of his legs and sat directly on top of One-Eye's head.

Ten meters! That was nearly the height of a three-story building.

The massive dog head was roughly the size of a car-large enough for Wen Yu to lie down comfortably!

From this vantage point, Wen Yu finally understood why so many people enjoyed standing in high places.

It was a feeling of looking down from above, of having everything under control!

"Kids, let's go!"

With a grand wave of Wen Yu's hand, the Kid Army behind One-Eye followed in Zhang Xiao's footsteps, carrying bags and bundles of all sizes.

Then, the One-Eye Express started up!

Each step of those pillar-like dog legs rumbled like an earthquake!

Despite its massive size, its movements weren't clumsy. Its immense physical strength gave One-Eye excellent balance; at the very least, Wen Yu, perched high atop One-Eye's head, didn't feel any jarring vibrations.

The roar of its movement spread far and wide. Under the passive effect of One-Eye's Wild Deterrence, small Mutant Beasts hidden in every corner of the city huddled in place, trembling as if they had encountered their natural predator!

And naturally, the noise could not be hidden from the Class Holders scattered throughout the city!

"What on earth is that?!"

When the first Survivor in Mudanjiang City followed the rumbling sound and found Wen Yu's group, words of shock and fear escaped his mouth instinctively.

"That's a Mutant Beast!"

A firm voice came from behind him.

It was this Class Holder's Captain, the leader of their small group.

"How can it be so huge?"

A flash of shock and complex emotion crossed the Captain's eyes.

"Level 4! A Level 4 Mutant Beast! And it has a master!"

Class Holders had excellent vision. After they Changed Class, even those with eye conditions would be healed by the physical reconstruction that followed the transformation.

Therefore, the Class Holders observing One-Eye from a distance could naturally see Zhang Xiao and the Kid Army in front of the beast, as well as Wen Yu sitting high upon One-Eye's head!

"Le… Level 4!!!"

To this small group, that was a level as high as the heavens!

"You guys probably don't know this, but back when the Apocalypse first started, the Boss of Mudanjiang City wasn't actually Wang Zhigang. It was a lion!"

"Some people tried to go after that lion back then. Putting the Magic Crystals aside, just the hide and claws of that lion would have been many times better than the Protective Suits and Steel Blades from the Exchange Pillar if they were crafted into weapons and armor!"

"And then?"

The Captain let out a cold laugh.

"What do you mean 'and then'?"

"Have you ever seen a human step on an ant? You should have seen it."

"It was a pathetic way to die."

Hearing their Captain's words, the entire team fell silent.

"At that time, that lion was Level 3, and it was about five meters tall."

The Captain pursed his lips and gestured toward One-Eye.

"That thing is at least Level 4!"

"Do you understand what that level signifies?"

This team's Captain clearly had a bit of a dark sense of humor.

And his teammates knew his quirks well.

"What does it signify?" the surrounding members asked, playing along.

"It signifies a catastrophe! A catastrophe for Mudanjiang City! If that Mutant Beast didn't have a master, we would have to consider evacuating the city immediately."

The Captain observed One-Eye in the distance seriously, then looked at Zhang Xiao and the Kid Army in front of the beast, comparing their position to the direction they were heading.

After a long moment, he spoke in surprise.

"That Mutant Beast is heading toward Central City!"

The Captain pondered for a moment before waving to the people behind him.

"Come on, let's follow them and see!"
