Chapter 52 – Fang Wenhai

Over the next two days, Wen Yu spent his time wandering around the Inner City out of sheer boredom.

It wasn't that Wen Yu wasn't anxious to improve his strength. The problem was that Class Holders were simply too vicious!

Anything that could provide Point rewards had already been killed!

As for the things that remained, either they were too strong to kill, or they were too hard to find!

At least around the Yanjing Settlement, it was already difficult to find any creatures that could yield Point rewards.

And with Wen Yu's current strength, unless he found a large-scale Mutant Beast herd, evolving further wouldn't be easy.

Rather than that, he might as well wait until this mission was over, cooperate with Lin Haifeng, and get his hands on some useful information. That would be far more comfortable.

A full two months had already passed since the Apocalypse began. The map was covered in red lines.

All of them had been prepared for his upcoming Promotion plan.

If he couldn't obtain the information he wanted from the Military, then this map would become the guarantee for his Promotion!

"Starting from Yanjing, we'll head all the way to the Taihang Mountains, then the Qinling Mountains, then the Kunlun Mountains. After that, we'll fly out of the country and sweep along the coastline. After hearing Wen Yu's words, One-Eye and Star merely stood to the side in silence.

How were they going to get there? Naturally, by bus-One-Eye-and by plane-Star-taking turns.

Having foreseen their upcoming careers as transportation tools, One-Eye and Star both wore sour expressions as they stared at the map without saying a word.

Sensing the thoughts of his two Soul Pets, Wen Yu patted both beasts on the head.

"Work hard. Hurry up with your Promotion. Once Boss reaches a higher level, I'll find a Soul Pet specifically for transportation."

Of course, that was only to cheer the two Soul Pets up. Wen Yu absolutely was not extravagant enough to let a Mutant Beast that could only serve as transportation occupy space in his Soul Realm Space.

Wen Yu understood that, and naturally, the two Mutant Beasts understood it as well. Ignoring Wen Yu's attempt at comfort, Star and One-Eye simply narrowed their eyes and continued looking back and forth along the route Wen Yu had planned.

It really was a little long…

The sound of a horn interrupted Wen Yu's thoughts as he planned the route.

After tidying up the military map, Wen Yu directly stored it in his Spatial Ring. Then he picked up One-Eye and Star and walked outside.

Outside, Fang Yuan stood in formal attire in front of a Rolls-Royce, smiling faintly at Wen Yu.

"It's time. I wonder if Brother Wen Yu is ready?"

"I've been ready for a while."

In the back seat of the luxurious Vehicles, Wen Yu and Fang Yuan chatted at an unhurried pace.

In less than an hour, they arrived at the Fang Family Old Residence.

It was called an old residence, but the layout of the entire estate was nothing short of splendid and magnificent. Before Wen Yu even entered, he could already hear waves of laughter and conversation coming from inside.

"Let's go, Brother Wen Yu. I'll take you to meet my grandfather."

Wen Yu nodded and immediately followed behind Fang Yuan.

Unfortunately, just as they reached the entrance of the residence, they were stopped by the attendants guarding the door.

"I'm sorry, sir, but could you please hand over your Spatial Ring? And your two pets as well."

The attendant spoke to Wen Yu politely.

Wen Yu frowned and turned to look at Fang Yuan.

Fang Yuan looked somewhat embarrassed. He said to Wen Yu, "I'm sorry, Brother Wen Yu. This is the rule, so…"

Wen Yu hesitated for a moment, then said to Fang Yuan, "There's no way I'm handing over my Spatial Ring. I understand why you're doing this-it's for security, nothing more. How about this? You check the items inside my Spatial Ring, then let me bring the Spatial Ring in with me. What do you think?"

There wasn't that much inside Wen Yu's Spatial Ring, but unfortunately, there were a few valuable things he really couldn't let out of his sight.

For example: the Dark Divine Light Skill Scroll, and the fragment of the Black Book.

Fang Yuan hesitated, looking first at the two attendants who still had their hands extended, then at Wen Yu's determined expression. For a moment, he couldn't make up his mind.

From this alone, it was clear that Fang Yuan's status in the Fang Family wasn't particularly high at all.

The situation reached a stalemate-until a voice came from some distance away.

"That won't be necessary. Let him through."

The voice had come from behind him. Before Wen Yu could even turn around, a figure had already walked over.

The newcomer wore a dark green military uniform. The insignia on his shoulder was unfamiliar enough that Wen Yu couldn't tell what rank he held.

The man smiled faintly at Wen Yu and introduced himself. "My name is Fang Wenhai. I suppose you could say I'm Fang Yuan's cousin."

Then Fang Wenhai pointed at the mark on his shoulder and said calmly, "This belongs to a special unit newly established by the Military after the Apocalypse began. I serve as a Captain there."

After that, Fang Wenhai waved the two attendants aside, and they immediately stepped back.

Fang Yuan, standing nearby, hesitated before stepping forward and saying, "Cousin."

Fang Wenhai didn't pay much attention to this useless cousin of his. He merely nodded.

"Go take care of your own business. I'll bring Mr. Wen Yu inside."

With that, he ignored Fang Yuan's ugly expression and walked straight into the courtyard.

Wen Yu first looked at Fang Wenhai, who was striding ahead, then at Fang Yuan. With a slight shrug, he followed Fang Wenhai away.

"Fang Yuan is my cousin. Strictly speaking, though, the relation is rather distant."

"I'm basically one of those far-flung relatives of the Fang Family who barely has anything to do with them. As for why I was able to come here today, I imagine you can guess."

Fang Wenhai spoke to Wen Yu as he walked deeper inside.

Wen Yu nodded in understanding.

It was for no other reason than the fact that Fang Wenhai had Level 4 strength.

At this stage, among Class Holders, that level was absolutely overwhelming.

However, the fact that this Kid had shown up here today could only mean his luck wasn't very good.

"Actually, I came here today for another reason as well."
