Chapter 123 – Senior Sister’s Surprise Attack
Inside the A1 Teaching Building, it was crowded with people, yet it felt like a silent movie, with no sounds emanating from anywhere.
The contrast between movement and silence was filled with an eerie sense of horror, making people feel a deep sense of fear.
A zombie was slowly wandering near the door of a classroom. His shoulder was collapsed on one side, and one arm hung limply at his side. His twisted face looked extremely grim in the dim light.
Suddenly, he snapped his head around, his blood-red eyes fixated on the dark, deep corridor not far away. Then, like a hunting dog, he sprinted forward with a sudden burst of speed.
However, just as his figure disappeared into the darkness, there was a dull thud.
Looking at the corpse at his feet, Ling Mo couldn’t help but frown, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his hand.
Even though he had an Advanced Zombie overseeing things and seven Mutation Zombies acting as Zombie Puppets, moving around inside the A1 Teaching Building was still quite taxing for Ling Mo.
The reason was simple: there were just too many zombies here, and the environment was exceedingly complex.
Crisscrossing corridors, densely packed classrooms, interspersed with various halls of different sizes.
This architectural style had been quite popular a few years ago. Ling Mo had seen it in some newly built office buildings. It was said to make more efficient use of limited space.
But he never expected X City University to follow such a trend. Not to mention Ling Mo, who was an outsider—even the students studying here probably got lost when they first attended classes.
No wonder there were so many zombies left in this place; it was all because of the complicated environment.
Imagine when the disaster broke out. Everyone was terrified and panicked. There was no way to calmly figure out directions.
A moment’s hesitation would lead to being caught by zombies, resulting either in infection or immediate death.
These students suffered but left Ling Mo with a perfect hunting ground for Mutation Zombies.
It was tiring, but since entering the A1 Teaching Building, Ling Mo had already hunted down more than a dozen Mutation Zombies in just over an hour. The Virus Gel he obtained varied in quality, but the harvest was still substantial.
This was already the fifth floor of the A1 Teaching Building, and the number of zombies was much fewer than on the lower four floors. However, this was only relative. Ling Mo roughly estimated that there were still about one or two hundred zombies here.
The sound of the corpse hitting the ground disturbed another zombie inside the classroom. This female zombie appeared to be a teacher here, dressed in a white blouse and a pencil skirt. Her neckline had been torn to shreds, exposing half of her chest and a red lace bra. One of her high heels had a broken heel, causing her to stumble and limp as she walked.
“Nice figure, but it’s a pity that her face is a mess after the mutation…”
Controlling a Mutation Zombie to confront her, Ling Mo sighed with some regret.
Ordinary zombies had expressions that looked frenzied, with wide-open eyes and mouths, their entire faces twisted into grotesque states. Such expressions naturally had no aesthetic appeal. Even this well-figured female teacher zombie looked extremely terrifying because of it.
As soon as the female zombie saw Ling Mo, the red glow in her eyes intensified, and she immediately sped up.
However, she couldn’t run in her current state. The Mutation Zombie under Ling Mo’s control reached her in two steps, grabbing her arm with one hand and swiftly clutching her slender neck with the other.
“Crack!”
With a light sound, the female zombie’s body immediately stiffened before slowly collapsing.
“The strength of Mutation Zombies is indeed impressive…”
Ling Mo showed a hint of satisfaction. During this past hour, he had relied on these seven powerful Zombie Puppets and rarely had to take action himself.
Though crises did occur a few times, being surrounded by dozens of zombies was quite a frightening sight.
But Ling Mo safely hid among the Zombie Puppets using his Psychic Tentacle, while Xia Na and Ye Lian unleashed the frenzied power of Advanced Zombies, turning the entire corridor into a bloodbath almost instantly.
As Advanced Zombies, both Xia Na and Ye Lian had an innate craving for slaughter. Since entering the A1 Teaching Building, they had been excitedly leading the way. If it weren’t for Ling Mo’s stern reprimands, they would probably have already rushed upstairs.
“You two are becoming more and more disobedient. Looks like the lesson I gave you last night wasn’t enough. Just wait until we leave X City University; I’ll show you how I’ll deal with you.”
Ling Mo pulled Xia Na back just as she was about to rush forward and whispered to her.
Ye Lian had also been itching to move when she saw the female zombie, but she immediately stopped at Ling Mo’s words, though the eagerness in her eyes was unmistakable.
This was a headache for Ling Mo. After their evolution, not only did they look no different from ordinary people, but they also showed more expressions and had more lively eyes. In this state, even prolonged contact with ordinary people wouldn’t reveal their true nature. However, despite their increasingly human appearance, their zombie instincts were becoming more pronounced.
Fortunately, both Ye Lian and Xia Na were still obedient. Once Ling Mo spoke, they could temporarily suppress their nature.
As the female zombie fell, a dozen zombies rushed out of the classroom in succession, but they were all blocked at the door by the Mutation Zombie Puppets under Ling Mo’s control and were eliminated one by one.
What surprised Ling Mo was that there was also a Mutation Zombie among them, and it was highly evolved.
Blocked by the other zombies, this Mutation Zombie eagerly jumped onto a desk and leaped over the heads of the other zombies.
Its jumping ability was indeed astonishing, but unfortunately, the height of the door was limited. Under the influence of Ling Mo’s Psychic Tentacle, the unfortunate Mutation Zombie slammed into the wall with a “thud,” its head bleeding as it fell to the ground, only to be torn to pieces by Ling Mo’s Zombie Puppets.
After controlling a Zombie Puppet to extract the Virus Gel and toss it over, Ling Mo caught it with a smile and carefully put it into his pocket.
“Almost twenty now; this should be enough for half a month, right?”
Previously, to accelerate Ye Lian and Xia Na’s evolution, Ling Mo had them consume as much Virus Gel as they could handle. But now that they no longer relied on Gel for evolution, and were just using it as food, their need for Virus Gel wasn’t very high. An average of one piece a day was enough to maintain their daily energy expenditure.
Of course, if they were engaged in continuous combat, their energy consumption would increase, and they would need more Virus Gel.
Places with such a high concentration of Mutation Zombies were hard to come by, so Ling Mo decided to hunt down all the Mutation Zombies here before leaving.
After clearing out the zombies in the vicinity, Ling Mo controlled the Mutation Zombie Puppets to continue down the corridor, with Xia Na and Ye Lian excitedly walking ahead of him.
Ling Mo wanted to tell them to slow down, but then he thought about how they didn’t get many opportunities to move around. This had already made the two female zombies quite repressed. If he took away their “viewing” privileges as well, they would probably be upset. Thinking of this, Ling Mo could only smile wryly and didn’t stop them.
However, at that moment, Ling Mo suddenly felt a chill down his back, as if something was staring at him, giving him an eerie shiver.
“What’s going on?”
He stopped and looked back. But in the dimly lit corridor, aside from the scattered corpses, there was nothing else in sight.
“An illusion?” Ling Mo wondered. The feeling of being watched was very real, but if it were a zombie, it would have charged out by now.
If it were a person, they couldn’t possibly be hiding safely nearby… It was probably just an illusion, Ling Mo thought.
But just as Ling Mo turned his head, a dark figure suddenly leaped out from a corner and grabbed his collar.
Ling Mo’s eyes widened in shock, but before he could react, the dark figure had already dragged him swiftly into a nearby office and shut the door with a “bang”!
“Ling-Ge!”
Xia Na and Ye Lian turned around simultaneously. Although Ling Mo hadn’t had time to use the Psychic Link to control them, the loud noise had already caught their attention.
The two female zombies immediately rushed to the door, but the quality of the security door was quite good. Despite the “bang bang” sounds from their pounding, it didn’t give way immediately.
At this moment, inside the room, Ling Mo was being pinned down on a desk by a shadowy figure. This figure was incredibly strong and moved with astonishing speed. Although Ling Mo started to struggle frantically after regaining his senses, he couldn’t break free.
As the figure’s face drew closer to his, Ling Mo felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly deployed his Psychic Tentacle, struggling to fend off the figure.
As the face of the shadowy figure came into view, Ling Mo finally made out its features in the dim light.
In that instant, Ling Mo was stunned.
“Li… Li Yalin? Yalin?”
The figure’s messy long hair obscured half of her face, but that pale, bloodless face was still instantly recognizable to Ling Mo.
The person who had suddenly attacked him and was now pinning him down was none other than his high school Senior Sister, a girl with an extremely proud and outstanding personality, Li Yalin!
During high school, Ling Mo and Li Yalin didn’t interact much. He vaguely heard that she got into X City University and chose to stay on after graduation. But from the moment Ling Mo stepped into X City University, he never expected to run into Li Yalin!
And certainly not under such bizarre circumstances!
Li Yalin’s eyes were as brilliant as rubies, with a cold gaze that also held a strange glimmer… This appearance was unmistakably characteristic of an Advanced Zombie…
