Chapter 249 – The Hidden Voyeur
“What is it?” Ling Mo asked, showing a hint of surprise.
“A very important exploration mission.”
Sun Zeya explained, “In this area, there’s a distribution warehouse for a pharmaceutical sales company. It’s located in a densely populated area, on a certain floor of a building. This information was provided by a survivor from A City, but he only knows this much. He doesn’t know which specific floor it’s on.”
“Exploration… So the mission is to find the exact location of the warehouse?” Ling Mo asked further.
“There are other requirements as well. If you find any of the medicines on this list, try to bring some back.”
Sun Zeya took out a list and waved it in front of Ling Mo. “Originally, if we carried out this mission, there would definitely be casualties, and the team members were mentally prepared for that. But after discussing with Tom, we decided to make this mission our first cooperation. This has a certain personal aspect because neither Tom nor I want to see any team members die.”
“But don’t worry, we’ll provide assistance. So…” Sun Zeya stepped forward, raised a hand, and placed it on Ling Mo’s chest. “Do you want to give me your first time here?”
“Do you have to use such a clumsy double entendre…? There’s something I’ve wanted to say for a long time,” Ling Mo pushed Sun Zeya’s hand away, smirking. “Your flirting skills are terrible.”
When it comes to seductive prowess, Li Yalin is clearly the most formidable…
Ling Mo felt that the reason he could face a naked body last night without having any improper thoughts was thanks to the constant “education” and “learning” with Ye Lian and the others.
He took the list and glanced at it. Besides some common medicines, it was mostly filled with anti-inflammatory drugs or wound treatments. However, he didn’t understand most of the terms…
“Looks like you have some pretty professional doctors…”
“Of course we do.” Sun Zeya raised her head proudly. “You can still join us, you know.”
Ling Mo nonchalantly slipped the list back to her, smiling. “But this mission is obviously very difficult. How can I manage with just two grenades?”
Sun Zeya immediately furrowed her brows. “Are you trying to extort me again?”
“Well, you’re not naked this time,” Ling Mo chuckled.
Ten minutes later, everyone was gathered together.
“Whoosh!”
As the door swung open, a blast of cold wind rushed in.
Standing at the entrance, Tom frowned and turned to wave, shouting, “Hurry up! We have a lot to do today!”
Of the twenty squad members, ten lightly equipped ones, along with Tom, took on the task of clearing the way. They were the first to step out of the building.
Among the remaining ten, six were assigned to carry heavy loads in turns, and four were specially designated to protect the survivors.
“Weren’t we supposed to stay here for a day to search for supplies and survivors…?” Yang Ying asked, frowning in dissatisfaction.
The soldier she had grabbed quickly stepped aside and said, “A Mutation Beast appeared last night. If Captain Sun hadn’t driven it away, there might have been casualties! Move and search, that’s the order!”
“Why are you being so harsh…” Yang Ying muttered, feeling a bit aggrieved. “She didn’t die, she just got ambushed…”
The soldier spoke loudly enough that even Ling Mo, who was at the back, could hear clearly.
He turned his head slightly and glanced at Sun Zeya with a hint of amusement. “You drove away a Mutation Beast? I remember someone got knocked out.”
“Mutation Beast? That’s quite an apt description!”
Sun Zeya chuckled, patting Ling Mo’s shoulder and whispering, “No matter what, you saw me naked. Let’s not dwell on minor issues like this. If I told them I almost died, what would the team think? And as you’ve seen, these survivors don’t trust us yet. We can’t cause a panic, or their mental strings might just snap.”
“You’ve thought this through quite thoroughly…”
Ling Mo had to admit he was somewhat impressed by the woman.
Sun Zeya was not only mentally resilient but also quick-witted and had a streak of ruthlessness in her. No wonder even Tom, a former regular soldier with overseas training, showed her so much respect.
“But I didn’t expect that instead of asking for guns or grenades, you would ask for a set of our standard supplies…”
Sun Zeya tiptoed, climbed onto Ling Mo’s shoulder, and smiled. “You chose well. You’ve successfully extorted me a second time… I’ll remember you.”
“The task you’re assigning me is worth that price,” Ling Mo replied calmly.
Sun Zeya whistled and said, “You bet on the fact that we wouldn’t sacrifice manpower. But never mind, lives are more valuable than supplies. The agreement is already made, so there’s no point in discussing it further.”
“When we get there, I’ll be counting on you. Big sister’s got her eye on you.”
She gave Ling Mo’s shoulder a strong squeeze before smiling and walking ahead with her gun in hand.
Watching Sun Zeya leave, Ling Mo furrowed his brows and rubbed his shoulder. “Such a small person, but such strength!”
Xia Na looked at Ling Mo curiously and asked, “Ling-Ge, are you really going to help these humans?”
“She’s right; there are many supplies I can’t find on my own,” Ling Mo said, still rubbing his shoulder. “Even if not for myself, for you all, this task needs to be done. And what seems difficult for them is relatively simple for me. At least this task sounds easy.”
Ling Mo smiled slightly as he said this. Concealing his superpower indeed brought more benefits; at the very least, he had a significant advantage in bargaining.
Li Yalin commented, “This is like your umbilical cord connection to human society. Through mutual exchange, both sides benefit… Humans are really complex.”
“It’s a bond, not an umbilical cord,” Ling Mo corrected, shaking his head.
“Ling-Ge… um… where’s Black Silk?” Ye Lian asked, puzzled.
“Sent Black Silk to the front,” Ling Mo said. “Sun Zeya thinks my superpower is about sensing danger in advance, so it works perfectly to have Black Silk scout ahead.”
“Hmm…” Ye Lian nodded thoughtfully, then looked innocently at Ling Mo. “I only understood the first part…”
“Ahem, no rush. My Ye Lian’s intelligence will soon improve,” Ling Mo said, gently pinching Ye Lian’s ear. She immediately shrank back like a startled rabbit, a hint of a smile appearing in her usually dazed eyes.
“I… I don’t want to think about everything… Ah, no… don’t pinch…”
“Don’t pinch? Then I’ll pinch some more.”
Ling Mo intensified his teasing, lunging at her. Just as Ye Lian was about to hide behind Xia Na, Xia Na silently extended a finger, poking Ye Lian’s back and pushing her into Ling Mo’s arms.
“No… no… don’t…”
“So you do want it?”
“Ling-Ge, don’t bully Ye Lian…”
“Weren’t you just helping?”
“That’s not my fault; that was Black Na.”
As Ling Mo was chatting animatedly with Ye Lian and the girls, Yang Ying in the queue was watching them closely, then turned her head with a frown.
Walking beside her, Liu Qiang had his eyes half-closed, head bowed, and hands clenched tightly.
A moment later, he suddenly opened his eyes, wiping sweat from his forehead.
“How’s it going?” Yang Ying asked in a low voice.
“Heh…” Liu Qiang glanced at Ling Mo and the three girls, a sinister smile appearing on his face.
“I initially just wanted to see what made him so cocky… but I didn’t expect to find something interesting!”
“What did you discover?” Yang Ying asked, eyes wide with tension. “I think that guy is dangerous; don’t mess with him…”
“Shut up!” Liu Qiang snapped, glaring at her. “You were supposed to get things done, but you failed. Now that I’ve found his weakness, he’ll have no choice but to cooperate with me!”
With a smug smile, Liu Qiang turned to look at Ling Mo.
Seeing Ling Mo playfully interacting with the three distinctly beautiful women, a strange light flickered in Liu Qiang’s eyes.
“Just wait, you won’t be smiling for long…”
