Ling Mo received the blueprint with a mix of doubt and belief, giving it a cursory glance.

“Huh?”

He then realized that with his mental power, he could fairly easily focus his attention on the lines excluding the dotted and wavy ones. The process wasn’t as difficult as he’d imagined.

Once he disregarded those two types of lines, the cryptic map suddenly took on a different form.

Though it was still composed of various lines and patterns, appearing chaotic at first glance, with a bit more attention, a complete architectural blueprint began to emerge before his eyes.

“Yuwen, I didn’t see this coming. You’ve got some wicked ideas, stealthily getting the blueprint out like this. I really should give you thirty-two thumbs up.”

After expressing his admiration, Ling Mo suddenly sighed, “But… after taking one look, you’ve memorized the entire map, so why didn’t you just draw a new one when you got back? What’s the point of doing it this way?”

“Uh… for the cool factor,” Yuwen Xuan shamelessly replied.

“Let’s not dwell on your brain glitches for now. From this map, the lab is extensive, with many rooms, spread across… five floors,” Ling Mo said, furrowing his brows. “Tell me, where should we enter from?”

Yuwen Xuan extended his hand and pointed on the map: “You can go through this side door here; it’s a dedicated passage normally used by the surveillance room staff…”

“Okay, I’ll take that route. Leave the surveillance room staff to me. Will anyone question your identity at the main entrance?”

“That shouldn’t be an issue. I previously delivered two zombie bodies here, so it’s perfectly normal for me to come back inquiring about research results.”

“Good. After you get in, I’ll guide you through the Communicator. Once you get the experimental subjects, I’ll help you avoid people and get out. If anything unexpected happens, I’ll be there to assist you. That’s the plan,” Ling Mo interjected, laying out the strategy in one breath, then adding, “It’s fortunate I found a headset at your place. I tried it with the Communicator, and though it’s a bit unclear, it indeed works. I always thought your long hair had a certain emo style to it, but now it can serve a good purpose for concealment.”

Yuwen Xuan, his mouth still agape, stared at Ling Mo in surprise for a while before finally speaking, “Am I completely stripped of command now?”

“If I still gave you a chance to betray the team, that would mean I’ve lost my mind,” Ling Mo responded, then inquired further, “How far is it from here to the lab?”

“Uh, about two kilometers.”

Ling Mo nodded, “So, around two thousand meters. In that case, Ye Lian, you guys stay here, don’t wander off. I’ll take… her with me.”

He said this while pointing at the maid girl. The female zombie was now nothing more than a moving corpse, devoid of soul or consciousness.

If there was a need for risky business, using a Zombie Puppet would be much safer.

Ling Mo didn’t face any opposition from Yuwen Xuan regarding his decision. In fact, Yuwen Xuan seemed almost gleeful as he glanced at Ling Mo’s waist. “You sure you’re up for action tonight?”

“You worry too much,” Ling Mo grunted. He didn’t even need to mention his reserve of the Spider Queen’s blood; the Glandular Fluid from the three female zombies was more than enough to quickly restore his vitality.

A mere strained back muscle…

“Ouch!”

“Ling Mo, does it hurt?” Xia Na immediately turned around, a smile on her face as she asked.

Ling Mo’s brows twitched. “Of course not, I just wanted to stretch a little… If it weren’t for tonight’s important task, I could go another three hundred rounds.”

“Don’t push yourself too hard, brother-in-law…”

After ten o’clock, the gate opened quietly, just a crack, and three figures slipped out.

As Ling Mo stepped outside, he glanced towards the alleyway, sensing that Yu Shiran and Black Silk were nearby. They were quite aware of their boundaries and quickly put some distance between themselves.

“My control should reach nearly three kilometers by now. As long as they stay within range and unnoticed, they can do as they please. Once we retrieve the experimental subjects, we’ll be able to locate Ban Yue through Yu Shiran.”

Thinking this, Ling Mo controlled the maid to follow Yuwen Xuan as they moved on.

The quarantine zone under the cover of darkness was eerily silent, with no lights or a single soul in sight.

Only the distant headquarters still had lights on; it seemed City X was engaged in battle, with logistics and command bustling about.

“By the way,” Ling Mo suddenly asked in a low voice, “are there many human factions like Falcon across the country? You must have tried to contact them, right?”

Yuwen Xuan looked back at him and said, “So far, only the Air Force Corps from City X has made contact with us. I’m not sure about the others; humans are resilient. As long as they aren’t wiped out, they’ll find a way to survive. I’ve heard that the Air Force Corps is exploring around and has gathered a lot of interesting intel. Unfortunately, they’re not willing to share it readily with us. Even when they do exchange information, it’s only with the upper echelons.”

“Why is that? We’re all human, shouldn’t we share what we know?” Ling Mo frowned.

“The fighting strength of the Air Force Corps is average, and their resources are limited. The only thing that stands out, apart from their aerial strike capability, is their advantage in gathering intelligence,” Yuwen Xuan explained. “So, they drip-feed us information to keep extorting supplies from us in the long term.”

A wave of disgust suddenly came over Ling Mo; despite zombies growing stronger, some people were content with the status quo and even keen on internal power struggles.

“Don’t look so sour,” Yuwen Xuan chuckled, patting Ling Mo’s shoulder, “Honestly, is it possible to get everyone on the same page, working together without any barriers? Mutual use, with a bit of help in critical moments, I think that’s quite alright. But it’s true, Falcon has indeed deteriorated a bit.”

“Still, you are my brother-in-law, and even if I don’t consider your position, for Yalin’s sake, I’d go all out to help you, ahahaha…”

The trio moved briskly. Although Ling Mo still felt some soreness in his back, the mutated zombie potion had made him feel much better.

The so-called two kilometers referred to the straight-line distance. In reality, winding through the cluster of buildings at the pace of the three people, it took nearly ten minutes.

They had now reached the edge of the urban area, where a wide avenue ended at a pitch-black mountain.

This mountain was somewhat famous, having once been the subject of a poem by a renowned poet.

The front of the mountain was connected to the scenic area, but the back of the mountain seemed much more desolate. The pharmaceutical company was situated halfway up the rear of the mountain, and from a distance, one could vaguely see some lights.

There were soldiers guarding the intersection, and the red light of cameras flashed intermittently. However, the security wasn’t too strict; Ling Mo and his companions quietly skirted around the side without making a sound.

“Are there no wild animals in this mountain?” Ling Mo couldn’t help asking as they moved through the forest.
