Chapter 384 – Why She Doesn’t Wear Underwear
Ban Yue carried the maid girl on her back, her body smeared with bloodstains, giving off a murderous aura. (Remember this site for the fastest updates.)
Ling Mo took over the maid girl and placed her on a flatbed trolley used in the warehouse, ready to check on her condition.
He was quite looking forward to seeing what changes the agent could bring about in the maid girl.
As long as it had a positive effect on her, Ye Lian could then use the agent as well.
Just as Ling Mo laid the maid girl down, she suddenly tilted her head back, opened her mouth wide, and fiercely bit towards his fingers.
“Clang!”
Just two centimeters from Ling Mo’s fingers, the maid girl’s teeth met resistance.
Several zombies circled around in surprise, watching as the maid girl’s eyes tightly focused on Ling Mo, her mouth agape as if she was desperately trying to suck something in, her expression seeming quite strenuous…
“Ling Mo, what did you do to her?” Xia Na asked after a moment of silence.
“Ah? Sorry, I got distracted because it was interesting and… just lost control.”
Ling Mo quickly removed the physical manifestation of the mental Tentacles. Initially, he had just used them to block her biting, but he hadn’t anticipated that the maid girl would think this kind of mental energy was edible, so she desperately tried to swallow it, stubbornly refusing to let go.
At first, Ling Mo just wanted to see how long it would take her to realize this wasn’t food, but then he became curious about how much she could swallow to test her endurance. If she had any reaction to pain, she shouldn’t be able to continue stuffing foreign objects down her throat.
“From these results, she still doesn’t have any physiological reaction; eating is just an instinctual need, and her body is very stiff,” Ling Mo indicated with a nod of his chin, directing everyone’s attention to her neck and the arms that tried to reach for Ling Mo but could only flail within a two-centimeter range. “Her body suffered multiple fractures after being injured; this is inevitable. Besides eating, she has also learned to attack, which means the mixed virus agent has awakened some of her zombie instincts…”
As he spoke, Ling Mo waved his finger just above the maid girl’s mouth.
“Ow!”
The maid girl let out a conscious growl from her mouth, desperately trying to bite Ling Mo, but she couldn’t reach him.
Ling Mo observed the angle of her neck as it strained upward, then slowly moved his finger down a bit. The maid girl’s reaction became more violent, which immediately stimulated the virus inside her, causing her to struggle even more.
However, Ling Mo was prepared, and with mental interference, the maid girl bit the wrong spot.
“Ling Mo, stop playing,” Xia Na said.
Yu Shiran was squatting beside the flatbed trolley, her mouth watering as she stared at Ling Mo’s fingers, but with the control of Dog Girl Black Silk, she couldn’t make any attacks.
“I’m just confirming my analysis,” Ling Mo retracted his hand and said.
This time, even Li Ya Lin could tell, “It was intentional… Terrifying humans.”
“However, she still can’t distinguish edible food, which is even behind the capabilities of ordinary zombies,” Ling Mo frowned, smoothly changing the subject. “I think the mixed virus potion has stimulated her instincts and is slowly healing her physical wounds, but it hasn’t restored her shattered consciousness. This further suggests that psychological damage is severe and harder to heal. Speaking of which, zombies can regain intelligence because they retain memories from their human days, wrapped up by the virus like a cocoon. As evolution occurs, the ‘silk threads’ encapsulating them are peeled away layer by layer…”
“It’s like… like that poker game we played as kids, where the loser had to remove an article of clothing each time…” Ye Lian suddenly interjected. “I remember losing my little tank top…”
Ling Mo held his forehead and said, “Wasn’t that your fifth birthday? Why remember such a childhood incident so vividly? As I recall, aside from your underwear, you were only wearing that tank top. I only had you take off one piece! And it wasn’t even ‘taken’; I just wiped my nose with it, and you didn’t want it back, saying you’d give it to me. When I think about it, that was probably the first real gift you ever gave me…”
“Hmm… Ling Mo remembers it quite clearly…” Xia Na remarked.
“Yes, down to the details…” Li Ya Lin nodded in agreement.
“Anyway,” Ling Mo shifted the topic once more, “We’ve mostly figured out the positive effects of the mixed virus potion; next, we should see if there are any side effects.”
Saying this, Ling Mo reached towards the maid girl’s collar.
“What are you trying to do?” Ban Yue suddenly reacted strongly. “Are you planning to stuff that thing in there? And then this and that, making her turn all weird, and then…”
“It’s quite clear I have no such intention…”
As Ling Mo spoke, he slowly unbuttoned the maid girl’s collar.
As the maid girl’s body was revealed, Ling Mo propped up his chin, displaying a slightly mischievous expression: “This could be considered a side effect, I guess…”
While unbuttoning the dress, a pair of ample ‘treasures’ bounced out, but they weren’t what caught Ling Mo’s eye. Having seen so much of that scale recently, he had built up a certain immunity.
What was key is that her skin seemed to have shed, and by sweeping away the white flakes, it was apparent that her body hair had also fallen away with the shed skin.
Her skin had become very smooth, and although it still wasn’t quite at the level of Li Ya Lin’s, it was considerably delicate.
Ling Mo pressed his hand against it, finding it different from the tough skin of regular zombies; the feel of this skin was more… sensual.
Such skin is actually harder to damage. Trying to poke it with his finger, Ling Mo could feel it was like pressing on rubber, with a strong capacity to bounce back.
With the maid girl’s evolutionary progress, her skin’s defensive abilities were only getting stronger.
She had her weaknesses, too. Her muscle strength wasn’t quite at the level of Ban Yue or Li Ya Lin, and even Xia Na could best her in that department. This meant her close-combat skills might be a bit lacking. But that was all relative—while her attack power was lower, her freakishly strong defense more than made up for it.
“If we use this serum on Ye Lian, she’d likely have a similar reaction, right? Can’t tell if that’s a good thing or a side effect…”
Ling Mo frowned and placed his hand on the maid girl’s forehead, pushing her back down onto the cart as she struggled to sit up, “Get her dressed. I reckon she’ll regain full mobility in about a day. Whether she’ll become conscious, though, is another matter.”
“She can definitely become conscious!” Ban Yue grunted.
“Ban Yue.” Ling Mo reached out and caught Ban Yue just as she was about to act, making her tense up and almost lose control of her instinct to attack.
“You’re hurt, aren’t you? Better to tend to that wound,” Ling Mo said before letting her go and rummaging through his backpack.
Ban Yue’s expression was odd as she glanced at her wrist—the same spot Ling Mo had just grabbed.
“This damn human… almost made me lose control…”
Before she could finish her internal rant, Ling Mo had already pulled out a first-aid kit and faced her, “Show me where you’re hurt.”
“I don’t need a human messing around, I can heal on my own,” Ban Yue said with a frown.
“We’ve got to keep moving soon. The blood of a leader level zombie is as conspicuous as a spotlight. Once their feast over there ends, they’ll notice you,” Ling Mo stated calmly.
“This… oh…” Hiding behind her sunglasses, Ban Yue’s eyes held an odd look. She stepped closer to Ling Mo, then reached down and tugged at the hem of her clothing, pulling it up, “Got one on my shoulder.”
Ling Mo’s hand, holding a cotton swab, froze in mid-air, “Normally, you’d pull down the neckline or roll up your sleeve… forget it, you wouldn’t know that… sigh, why aren’t you wearing an undergarment…”
While the group was resting in the warehouse, a heavily modified pickup truck was slowly making its way toward the industrial park.
And there, the vengeful rabbit, drenched in blood, sat atop a railing, its plump legs swinging freely. The smiling puppet rabbit’s face seemed to be watching the truck’s approach…
