Chapter 401 – Entangled Bodies
“Aren’t you planning to drop the gun?”
Ling Mo stood with his hands in his pockets, looking entirely unthreatening.
However, Lucy didn’t dare to underestimate him. Her three companions who had entered earlier were subdued in less than two minutes, without even managing to fire a warning shot, let alone resist.
Moreover, he still had four female companions who hadn’t appeared yet. Who knew if they were lurking somewhere nearby…
“How do I know what you’ll do to us if I surrender?” Lucy bit her lip and asked.
“You don’t, but you have no choice,” Ling Mo replied smugly. Suddenly, a psychic tentacle lashed out at Lucy.
She immediately felt a numbness in her wrist, as if someone had struck her hard. Her fingers involuntarily opened.
But as she let go of the machine gun, she quickly reacted, twisting her body in a swift roll and reaching for the gun again.
She also drew her handgun with her other hand, and without consciously aiming, she pulled the trigger as she faced Ling Mo.
“Bang!”
At the moment she fired, the gun barrel was forcibly lifted towards the ceiling by an unseen force.
The bullet pierced through the aluminum ceiling panel, producing a crisp “clang.”
Her hand reaching for the machine gun grasped at thin air. The machine gun seemed to be pulled away by an invisible rope, mysteriously ending up in Ling Mo’s hand.
“Just so you know, my shooting skills are terrible,” Ling Mo aimed the gun at Lucy, smiling. “So if I start shooting, it’s going to be a full-scale sweep. Don’t blame me for not being chivalrous.”
“You don’t exactly seem like a gentleman who knows how to be chivalrous right now.”
Wearing her tight leather suit, Lucy was frozen in place, gritting her teeth as she stared at Ling Mo. Her eyes darted around, looking for an escape route.
Unfortunately, the nearest door was three meters away…
In this narrow, tubular hallway, she had no chance of turning the tables.
This young man stood there, appearing full of weaknesses, yet he possessed bizarre attack methods.
Although the exchange was brief, Lucy already deduced that Ling Mo was not the ambusher who attacked them, but he was no less dangerous.
“You’re a superhuman too, aren’t you? This gun is really heavy; an ordinary girl couldn’t handle it,” Ling Mo said casually.
“Then you’d better be careful not to drop it on your foot.”
Lucy was racking her brain for a strategy, trying to use words to cause interference.
Ling Mo’s gaze shifted to Lucy’s abdomen. “You even have a six-pack… That’s pretty cool…”
“You… If you keep staring, I’ll gouge your eyes out!” Lucy snapped angrily. Then she asked, “Where are they? What are you planning to do with us?”
“You make it sound like I had a plan all along. You guys are the intruders!”
Taking advantage of the distraction, Ling Mo knocked the handgun out of her hand as well.
This feeling of complete suppression frustrated Lucy, but she had no choice.
“Hey, tight leather suit…”
“What tight leather suit! My name is Lucy!”
Ling Mo naturally continued, “Lulu…”
“Enough already!”
A minute later, Ling Mo escorted Lucy into a dirty, cluttered office.
In the small office next door, a cocoon formed by Black Silk and Yu Shiran was being guarded by Li Yalin.
Liu Baodong and the others, who had entered first, were crouching under a table with their heads down. Although they weren’t trembling, their faces looked extremely grim.
Xia Na was sitting on the table, her scythe planted in front of them. Nearby were a few discarded guns and backpacks.
Ye Lian leaned against the back of the table, seemingly uninterested in the scene before her.
“Lucy!”
Liu Baodong shrank back under the table, his voice muffled and fearful. “Tell them we didn’t mean to track them! This was an accident!”
“Weren’t you the ones looking for trouble before? Now you’re cowering as soon as we meet. Sounds like you even got punched in the nose…”
Lucy frowned and briefly recounted their encounter to Ling Mo.
“So, we were forced to come here.”
Ling Mo stroked his chin thoughtfully. Considering the anomalies on the street, he could basically determine the attacker’s identity—it was undoubtedly a Senior Zombie.
Such behavior, toying with prey, was beyond the capabilities of an ordinary advanced zombie.
“Another highly intelligent, possibly Leader-Level Zombie… It didn’t attack us, likely sensing that we also have a leader-level presence here…”
Ling Mo glanced at Liu Baodong. In his view, this guy with average combat skills and a skittish personality was likely just a subordinate…
So he turned his gaze back to Lucy. “Even if you’re telling the truth, you’re bringing trouble to us like this. Lulu, this isn’t good…”
“Do you have the right to say that, after seeing us being surrounded by zombies and choosing to ignore it?”
As soon as Lucy finished speaking, a sharp sound came from the distance.
“Whoosh!”
“Get down!”
She shouted, immediately crouching down. Ling Mo reflexively ducked as well.
“Crash!”
The sound of breaking glass followed, and then a dark shadow whisked past Ye Lian’s cheek.
Without hesitation, she reached out and grabbed the shadow in her hand.
At the same time, Lucy lunged forward while crouching, directly tackling Ling Mo.
Her movements were as swift and powerful as a leopard’s. She grabbed the gun barrel and forcefully lifted it, while her legs entwined around Ling Mo’s, tripping him and entangling them together.
By the time Xia Na leaped up, Lucy had already flipped Ling Mo over, pinning him down with the machine gun wedged between them.
Lucy’s fingers were hooked on the trigger. This tightly entwined position not only prevented Xia Na and the others from rescuing but also effectively guarded against Ling Mo’s bizarre superpowers.
“Don’t move, or I’ll take him down with me!”
Seeing Xia Na land with her exaggerated scythe, Lucy quickly shouted.
“Hey, you seriously want to die with a man you just met…”
Ling Mo was firmly choked by Lucy’s other hand, his legs tightly entwined with hers, making it genuinely difficult to break free.
However, Ling Mo wasn’t panicked at all. Instead, he showed a slightly relaxed and joyful smile, looking down at Lucy’s face.
The distance between them was less than five centimeters, their noses almost touching. If Ling Mo just leaned down a bit, he could kiss her sexy, thin lips.
The tight leather suit perfectly outlined her firm yet slender body, and at this moment, Lucy’s breasts were pressed against Ling Mo’s chest.
“Crash!”
Another window shattered, and a muffled “boom” sounded from the wall behind them, causing bits of plaster to fall continuously.
Ling Mo glanced sideways and saw an exaggerated dent in the wall.
Lucy also looked up, then stared at Ling Mo. “Listen, we have no grudge. You let them go, and I’ll let you go.”
“Alright, but…”
Dozens of tentacles grabbed Lucy’s limbs, forcefully restraining her.
During this process, Ling Mo naturally used some psychic interference. Otherwise, competing in strength with Lucy would consume an unknown amount of mental energy.
“No need for you to let go,” Ling Mo said with a faint smile.
Lucy lay on the ground, her expression utterly shocked.
She had thought Ling Mo’s superpower was already strong, but she didn’t expect he had so many tricks up his sleeve.
Ling Mo frowned as he glanced at the woman under the table, covered in blood. The target of that dark shadow’s attack was actually her…
“Using smell for targeting… Listen, you guys should leave. I don’t want any trouble.”
“Don’t say that! Help us…” Liu Baodong wailed miserably.
Ling Mo stood up and saw Ye Lian staring coldly out the window. He asked, “Did you see clearly…”
Before he could finish, Ling Mo’s pupils contracted.
Blood seeped through Ye Lian’s clenched fist, dripping from her fingers…
“No, I didn’t see clearly.”
Ye Lian glanced back at Ling Mo, her big eyes seemingly devoid of any emotional fluctuations. She opened her palm somewhat blankly, “But I caught this.”
Sharp shards had pierced through Ye Lian’s palm, and a few drops of blood oozed out, starkly visible against her fair skin.
Ling Mo grabbed Ye Lian’s hand, angrily looking out at the ruins outside the window. “Courting death…”
