Chapter 612 – Senior Sister and the Monster

Not only did Li Yalin fail to join up with them in time, Ling Mo soon discovered another strange occurrence.

The little monster that had initially been impaled on Xia Na’s blade… had vanished!

“Where’s that little monster?” Ling Mo looked around in astonishment.

The nature of this little monster was ferocious, and Ling Mo had no intention of keeping it around. Now that they were about to meet up with Mu Chen and the others, he needed to figure out how to deal with it.

But when he now recalled the matter, the little monster had already disappeared without a trace!

“Huh? I just saw it a moment ago,” Xia Na said, equally surprised. Given the current state of the little monster, it was hard to imagine how it had managed to slip away right under their noses.

However, everyone’s attention had just been diverted by the situation outside, and the alarm sounds had masked any subtle movements…

“Forget it, it’s not much of a threat now,” Ling Mo said, scanning the area with his psychic power and finding nothing, before shrugging.

Indeed, the “Jellyfish” on its head was gone, and the Straw in its mouth had disappeared too. Although its escape was a surprise, it wasn’t worth the effort to chase it down.

But what about Yalin? Why hadn’t she shown up yet? Ling Mo thought anxiously.

As Ling Mo turned his gaze toward the exit, a shadow in the darkness moved slightly.

Before Xia Na and the others could notice, the shadow flickered and vanished.

In the depths of the Underground Mall, the shadow ran a distance and stopped in front of some shelves.

“Shh, stay quiet.”

The figure gently placed another small shadow on the shelves, whispering.

In the blood-red eyes of the little shadow, Li Yalin could clearly be seen.

With a mischievous grin, Li Yalin began to peel off the mucus layer clinging to her body, while looking at the little creature she had just stolen away.

Having the ability to teleport suddenly, combined with some mucus that could slightly shield Ling Mo’s psychic power, and choosing a moment when everyone’s attention was distracted…

Successfully capturing it with the ability of a Zombie to stealth, she had completely concealed her actions.

“Squeak!”

The Zombie Infant was still in a daze, but as soon as it was put down, it immediately assumed an aggressive stance, baring its tiny sharp teeth and glaring angrily at Li Yalin.

“Hehe…” Li Yalin didn’t get angry but instead laughed, casually pinching the cheek of the Zombie Infant.

This was Ling Mo’s favorite thing to do, but the Zombie Infant had never experienced such a gesture.

It let out a weird cry, and its small body instantly tensed up, with its unusually large hands warily protecting itself.

After a few seconds with no further action, the Zombie Infant cautiously parted its fingers slightly.

But as soon as it peeked out, it saw a piece of Gel being handed to it.

“Eat this. Although the quality is poor, it should help you regain a bit of energy. And then… you can run away.” Li Yalin waited for a moment, but when the Zombie Infant didn’t take it, she just smiled and placed the Gel beside it. This movement startled the Zombie Infant again, and if it could move, it would have immediately jumped off the shelf and fled.

“This place is going to burn down soon… Well, once you’ve regained a bit of energy, the fire will probably be closing in… If you run fast enough, you’ll survive. If you run too slowly… hehe, I’m sure you’ll be fast enough.”

Li Yalin spoke patiently, not caring if the Zombie Infant could understand: “But don’t let us run into you again. Although you’re just trying to survive, my human mate would be very angry.” At this point, she suddenly pouted, “It’s nice that you could be born… I want to reproduce too, but I’ve never been successful.”

“And I’m very curious about you. What will you become in the future? You’re different from us; you’re a pure Zombie…” Li Yalin stared intently at the Zombie Infant for a moment, suddenly pondering.

When it finally managed to sit up straight, the surroundings were already empty.

It cautiously glanced around, then slowly turned its gaze to the Gel beside it.

The small piece of virus gel was emitting a tantalizing aroma.

The Zombie Infant swallowed a mouthful of saliva, then lunged at it…

“If Yalin doesn’t come soon, I’ll go look for her.” This was Ling Mo’s nth time glancing back within two minutes. Even though he knew they wouldn’t see any flames or smell smoke yet, he couldn’t help feeling anxious.

At this point, he was even regretting sending Li Yalin to do this task, despite her being the most suitable candidate given all conditions.

But… intelligence can sometimes be a major drawback!

“Yalin shouldn’t be distracted by the flames like an ordinary zombie anymore, right? Although she did keep staring at me smoking a few days ago…” Ling Mo suddenly wondered aloud.

Seeing the frantic and nervous look on Ling Mo’s face, Xia Na couldn’t help but reassure him, “That won’t happen. Yalin isn’t the simple zombie she used to be.”

“But…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Ling Mo saw a familiar figure swiftly racing out of the darkness.

Li Yalin, moving at high speed, looked like a striking silhouette—agile, swift, and with an alluring figure, not to mention her bouncing chest.

Ling Mo breathed a long sigh of relief and asked, “Yalin, why were you so slow?”

Li Yalin, with a bright smile, placed a hand under her breasts but didn’t answer Ling Mo’s question. “The fire is coming, let’s go quickly.”

“Huh?” Ling Mo’s face showed confusion, and Li Yalin had already clung to his arm, pressing his limb snugly between her soft breasts.

The electric sensation instantly made Ling Mo feel like his bones were melting. This little minx!

“Hehe, quickly, let’s go!”

She urged him while pulling Ling Mo along.

While he smiled bitterly, an idea suddenly popped into Ling Mo’s mind.

But looking at Li Yalin, he opened his mouth yet ultimately said nothing.

From his vantage point, there seemed to be something different in Li Yalin’s eyes—no longer just pure coldness and allure, but also a hint of… expectation?

As soon as Ling Mo and his group emerged from the Underground Mall, they were spotted by Mu Chen and his two companions across the street.

However, Mu Chen’s expression was far from pleasant.

“What do we do now?!”

He gestured angrily, pointing to himself, then to Ling Mo’s group across the street, and finally emphatically at the dense horde of Zombies not far away.

What nearly drove Mu Chen to madness was that Ling Mo merely glanced in his direction before turning his head away again.

“This… bastard! He’s ignoring me!” Mu Chen roared.

Meanwhile, Ling Mo, the object of his curses, was calmly instructing Yu Shiran and Xiao Bai, “Wait here for a couple of minutes. Once we leave, follow right behind us this time.”

“Aren’t we supposed to lure the Zombies away?” Yu Shiran asked resignedly, spreading her hands.

“No need. Since we’re with the Niepan members, it’s better to be cautious. Following behind us provides a backup for us,” Ling Mo replied, shaking his head.

After giving his instructions, he turned around again but still didn’t look at the furiously waving Mu Chen. Instead, his focus shifted to the Zombie horde on the other side.

Some of the Zombies had already climbed up the utility poles, with several even hanging from the wires.

And there, in the middle, was a small Alarm, almost within reach of one determined Zombie.

“They clearly have some intelligence after evolving, so why are they so fixated on these things?” Ling Mo sighed.

“Why are you guys so interested in music?” Xia Na retorted sarcastically.

“Can you even compare the two?!” Ling Mo looked at Xia Na in astonishment.

But he quickly decided he’d rather not hear the answer… He didn’t want his worldview turned upside down yet again.

“This situation is actually better than I expected.”

Ling Mo glanced at the mass of Zombies congregating in that area, roughly estimating there to be at least a hundred.

And as soon as they stepped out of hiding, these Zombies would immediately change direction and swarm them.

What would it feel like to be surrounded by over a hundred Zombies? Ling Mo had no desire to experience that again.
