Chapter 632 – A Face Asking for Trouble
This slight flaw appeared in the blink of an eye and then vanished just as quickly. Even if one could notice it, it would be challenging to react instantly.
No matter how well-coordinated two people are, their actions can never be truly synchronous.
But Ling Mo was different. On one hand, his reflexes had been honed to an extremely fast level. On the other hand, he and Ye Lian were mentally connected.
At the moment this flaw appeared, Ling Mo responded reflexively.
He sprang up, and two tentacles shot out from his psychic light cluster, simultaneously grabbing the Monster’s slightly unsteady foot.
“Bang!”
The Monster fell with a thud and rolled a short distance due to the inertia, crashing heavily into the roadside railing.
Before it could get up, Thor in Ye Lian’s hand flashed with a burst of fire.
A huge spray of blood immediately erupted from the Monster’s body, accompanied by its agonizing scream.
This flawlessly coordinated sequence of actions, as if performed by a single person, left Mu Chen stunned. From an observer’s point of view, Ling Mo and Ye Lian’s movements were seamlessly fluid. Despite the violent process and bloody outcome, it felt like watching a meticulously rehearsed performance. However, putting himself in their shoes, Mu Chen’s mind was filled with shock.
No matter how he analyzed or calculated, he could never replicate Ling Mo and Ye Lian’s synchronization. During their actions, even a split-second delay would have resulted in a completely different outcome.
“This is the pinnacle of romance…” Mu Chen murmured in a daze.
As the Monster fell, Ling Mo didn’t rush over but instead focused his gaze. The “web” surrounding them rapidly materialized.
A muffled grunt came from the void, followed by a figure appearing nearby.
This time, before Ling Mo could act, Shen Le vanished and reappeared next to the Monster.
“How did you…” Shen Le’s face darkened as he looked at Ling Mo, finding the situation hard to believe. However, he quickly let out a cold sneer. “But, I’ve figured out your ability. Invisible attacks, but they have range and power limitations—the farther the distance, the weaker the energy. You can block attacks, but I bet there’s a limit to that too…”
He pondered for a moment and continued, “Psychic power. But how long can your mental energy last?”
“Not bad,” Ling Mo complimented.
Shen Le initially felt a bit proud, but Ling Mo’s mocking gaze soon wiped the smile off his face, replacing it with a surge of anger. “What do you mean by that?”
“You’re not the only one probing for weaknesses,” Ling Mo said. “I guess your Phantom can only be effective within a thirty-meter radius?”
Shen Le didn’t respond, but his face turning dark said more than any answer could.
In fact, the question repeating in his mind was: How did this guy figure it out?!
He quickly realized that Ling Mo’s previous seemingly meaningless and foolish attacks, which he had thought were a total waste of time, were actually part of a probing strategy…
Ling Mo had constantly shifted his position, and during this process, Shen Le discovered the range limitations of Ling Mo’s psychic attacks. But by the same token, Ling Mo had identified Shen Le’s greatest weakness.
Originally, Shen Le could have safely tested Ling Mo through the Monster, but Ling Mo’s relentless and irritating attacks had easily provoked him.
Reflecting on it now, Shen Le had thought Ling Mo was just a useless weakling, but in reality, Ling Mo was probably gleefully thinking about what a gullible idiot he was…
“So, you really are a fool,” Ling Mo shook his head and said.
Damn it! Shen Le clenched his fists, his face turning blue with rage.
“But I initially thought your Phantom didn’t have any offensive capabilities. I didn’t expect you to lose patience and make a move,” Ling Mo continued.
“So what?” Shen Le couldn’t help but ask, knowing full well that Ling Mo was using this meaningless talk to probe further.
Ling Mo’s face remained amused, “Actually, you’re a mental ability superhuman.”
“What?!”
This time, the exclamation came from Mu Chen, who was still leaning against the wall.
Since Shen Le had displayed his abilities, Mu Chen had already pegged this young man as someone with an enhancement ability.
That speed, that elusive presence… How could this be a mental ability?
Moreover, if he was a mental ability superhuman, Ling Mo should have discerned it at first glance. If he hadn’t noticed initially, why suddenly conclude now that Shen Le had a mental ability?
Shen Le himself was clearly shocked. After a moment, he asked, “How did you know?”
“Damn, it really is the case!” Mu Chen slapped his forehead in astonishment.
“Your combat skills are lousy,” Ling Mo answered, nearly causing Mu Chen to burst out laughing.
He couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for Shen Le. Watching the red-haired youth clench his fists and grit his teeth, unable to refute, Mu Chen felt secondhand frustration for him.
In their verbal sparring, Shen Le had been utterly outmatched by Ling Mo.
Not only that, Ling Mo had continuously mocked him, likely driving Shen Le to the brink of losing his composure.
A mental ability superhuman who can’t stay calm is basically digging his own grave…
Mu Chen glanced at Ling Mo with a mix of admiration and a hint of fear. His respect for the young man had risen, along with a sense of caution.
Compared to Shen Le, who seemed to have fallen into some kind of obsessive state, Ling Mo was obviously much more rational.
When he first saw Shen Le, he thought the two had some similarities.
Both liked to smile and seemed relaxed… suggesting a good mindset.
But now it was clear that Shen Le was no match for Ling Mo. Shen Le’s sense of ease was entirely based on his perceived strength, whereas Ling Mo could maintain his calm demeanor even in difficult situations.
The moment their conflict began, the disparity between the two became apparent.
“Since you’re a mental ability superhuman, things will be simpler…” Ling Mo said with considerable confidence.
“Fine… fine,” Shen Le’s face twisted into a mad grin, his voice taking on a crazed tone. “It doesn’t matter if you’ve figured it out; I’ll still make you kneel and beg for mercy. Do you know what I’ll do to you? I’ll make you watch as your pretty girlfriend is killed and then eaten by No.1! Hahaha… no, no, even better, let her come to me.”
Shen Le’s gaze shifted to Xu Shuhan. “How about letting your girlfriend devour the others? Hahaha…”
“She’s not my girlfriend,” Ling Mo replied calmly.
Shen Le’s laughter abruptly ceased, and a moment of fury took over him. It was like punching a pile of cotton with all his might, only to see it slowly restore itself. Utterly powerless and infuriating!
“You’re focusing on all the wrong things!”
Before Shen Le could finish his sentence, a bloody hole appeared in his shoulder. In a flash, Shen Le vanished, barely dodging Ye Lian, who had raised her gun to shoot.
“Tsk, missed the head,” Ling Mo remarked with regret.
“Winning so decisively and you still go for a sneak attack…” Mu Chen was in disbelief. At this point, he couldn’t tell if Ling Mo genuinely had an irritating personality or if he was intentionally trying to distract Shen Le.
If it was the former, then Ling Mo was truly terrifying. It meant being unscrupulous and devious was second nature to him!
In the blink of an eye, Shen Le reappeared behind the Monster. He tapped it with one hand while clutching his shoulder with the other, then angrily whistled, “Whew!”
“No.1, attack!”
At Shen Le’s command, No.1, which seemed to be on the brink of death, staggered to its feet again.
As soon as it stood up, it charged forward. During its charge, it swayed slightly to avoid Ye Lian’s aim and directly targeted Ling Mo.
Watching it close in at high speed, Ling Mo’s sense of foreboding grew stronger and stronger.
“It’s not a Zombie!”
The thought sprang up again in Ling Mo’s mind, and this time, he was almost certain of it.
Simultaneously, Shen Le flickered and disappeared, reappearing at the side of the Monster, using it for cover. “So what if it’s a thirty-meter range? Try to maintain the distance if you can!”
Upon saying this, he vanished again like a bubble.
“Giving up on sneak attacks and deciding to act simultaneously?” Ling Mo sneered, “You’d be better off sticking to being a zookeeper!”
Dozens of pre-prepared Tentacles simultaneously shot toward No.1!
The probing phase was over; now it was time for a head-on confrontation!
