Chapter 84 – Death of the Betrayer
Thinking of this, Shi Bin nodded, but he wasn’t willing to reveal all his embarrassing secrets. So, he vaguely said, “That guy is really untrustworthy…”
“Damn! He actually dared to mess with my brother!” Xu Cai exaggeratedly slapped his thigh in anger. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he pays for this! But,” his tone suddenly changed as he lowered his voice, “Shi Bin, tell me the truth, did you really come back from Red Light Street?”
“What, you think I’m lying? We really came from Red Light Street. You saw that we have a patient with us. There are no big hospitals nearby, so we were heading to the School Hospital to find some medicine.”
As for why Ling Mo and the other two came to X City University, Shi Bin didn’t know, so he didn’t mention it.
Hearing Shi Bin’s words, Xu Cai’s expression became complicated. Although he had told the group of students not to believe them, he was still half-skeptical. Now, hearing Shi Bin confirm it, he started to feel a bit worried.
But he quickly brushed off his concerns, thinking they had plenty of cannon fodder anyway!
“So, they must be pretty strong, huh? Shi Bin, if you want me to help you get even, you’ve got to tell me more about them.”
Shi Bin hesitated a bit, but as soon as he showed a thoughtful look, Xu Cai sighed and said, “Brother, why have you become so timid? What, you’re still scared of him even with me backing you up?”
“Scared of him?” Xu Cai’s words hit a sore spot, and Shi Bin immediately flared up, “How could I be scared of him! I just think you can’t beat him either! It’s not just him; even the two girls with him are out of your league. They kill zombies like they’re chopping watermelons!”
“Impossible! I won a kickboxing championship in the city! Is he from some martial arts school or something? No way he’s better than a professional like me!” Xu Cai chuckled inwardly. This Shi Bin was so narrow-minded and easily provoked. It was really bad luck for those guys to have him in their group.
Shi Bin’s words did make Xu Cai take notice, secretly thinking that stirring up those cannon fodder was indeed the right move. Killing zombies like chopping watermelons—how strong must they be?
Even if Shi Bin was exaggerating a bit, it still indicated that those girls were not to be trifled with.
“He’s a…” Shi Bin was about to blurt out but suddenly felt something was off.
Though not the sharpest tool in the shed, he sensed something fishy. Xu Cai’s relationship with him was just so-so. If Xu Cai didn’t know Ling Mo’s strength, he might help out. But after hearing such words, Xu Cai still seemed determined to charge ahead, which didn’t make sense.
Shi Bin, though extremely jealous, wasn’t deluded enough to think he had some innate charisma that would make Xu Cai willing to risk his life for him.
So his expression quickly turned dark: “Xu Cai, what are you really up to?”
Seeing Shi Bin catch on so quickly, Xu Cai thought it was a pity but decided to drop the pretense.
He gave an insidious smile and subtly shifted his body to block Shi Bin’s path: “Alright, I’ll be honest. I do want to help you get even, but I also want to seize the opportunity for some benefits. You mentioned that Ling Mo has a lot of food, right? And I’ve also been eyeing their weapons…”
Shi Bin’s heart skipped a beat, and he looked at Xu Cai with utter disbelief.
He never imagined Xu Cai had this in mind! Though he had considered killing Ling Mo and even almost acted on it, he never thought about robbing Ling Mo’s belongings.
Shi Bin’s murderous intent stemmed from jealousy, but Xu Cai’s motive was clearly greed! For a moment, Shi Bin was stunned.
Xu Cai didn’t give him a chance to think and continued to persuade: “Look, you’ve suffered because of him. If we work together, inside and out, and you can manage to ambush him, victory is ours. I noticed you seem to have a thing for that sickly girl? Tell you what, I’ll make the call—capture her alive, and you can do whatever you want…”
“Shut up, Xu Cai!”
Shi Bin was instantly furious. He had been wavering, but hearing Xu Cai’s intentions toward Lin Luanqiu made him blurt out his objections almost involuntarily.
However, as soon as he spoke, he noticed Xu Cai’s gaze turning vicious.
This kind of gaze only appears in someone who has truly killed and seen blood.
Shi Bin took a slow step back, suddenly regretting his decision to meet Xu Cai here. From Xu Cai’s eyes, he saw undisguised murderous intent.
“Shi Bin, I’m genuinely trying to help you, and this is how you talk to me?” Xu Cai inched closer, speaking in a low voice, “If we take out those people and grab their food, we might even escape and find a way to survive. Do you know there’s barely any food left to scavenge in this school? I can’t let this chance slip by.”
“What exactly do you want me to do…” Shi Bin felt a chill run down his spine, nervously watching Xu Cai.
“That’s the brother I know. Just tell me about their abilities.”
Shi Bin gritted his teeth, looking around to find Xu Cai subtly blocking his escape routes. In a head-on fight, he didn’t think he could take Xu Cai.
“What’s the matter, you don’t want to speak?” Xu Cai pressed closer, his towering frame exerting immense pressure on Shi Bin.
After a long hesitation, Shi Bin finally said, “Ling Mo is a bit strange; he’s a superhuman, but he seems weak in close combat. The other two girls are skilled with knives. The sick one… she’s not a threat. Don’t touch her.”
Xu Cai chuckled, “Ha, you really are a romantic, huh? But there’s one more thing I need your help with…”
Before he could finish speaking, Shi Bin suddenly felt a searing pain in his abdomen. He looked down in disbelief at this classmate, who had just been calling him brother, now ruthlessly attacking him.
Xu Cai’s face twisted into a gruesome smile as he held a thin steel pipe, the other end buried in Shi Bin’s stomach.
“Xu Cai, you…” Shi Bin’s voice trembled with pain and betrayal.
Seeing Shi Bin’s desperate and terrified expression, Xu Cai felt immensely satisfied.
“You’re too cowardly; I was afraid you’d ruin my plans. Sorry, brother.”
Xu Cai sneered as he whispered into Shi Bin’s ear.
Blood started to pour from Shi Bin’s mouth. Using all his strength, he slowly raised his sharpening stick, but in his eyes filled with despair, Xu Cai easily snatched it away: “Thanks, I needed a good weapon.”
Shi Bin’s eyes widened in disbelief, his expression one of unavenged death, but his body slowly crumpled to the ground.
Xu Cai coldly watched as Shi Bin’s corpse fell at his feet, his gaze suddenly becoming a bit complex.
A superhuman… Xu Cai felt a strange sense of excitement. He didn’t know much about superhumans, but thankfully, Ling Mo’s weakness was close combat, Xu Cai’s greatest strength. As for Xia Na and Ye Lian, no matter how strong they were, they were still just girls, limited in strength and stamina.
“No matter how strong you are, you can’t fight off multiple attackers!”
After hesitating for a few seconds, Xu Cai’s face twisted into a vicious grin as he muttered to himself.
He decided to act immediately and swiftly deal with Ling Mo’s group. Delaying might lead them to notice Shi Bin’s disappearance and become suspicious. Also, the crazed group might eventually calm down. Now, while they were still in the frenzy of having slaughtered their comrades, was the perfect time to use them as cannon fodder.
