Chapter 95 – Crow’s Mouth

Seeing Ling Mo and Xia Na leave without looking back, Tang Xiaoxue suddenly felt his legs go weak, and he collapsed to the ground.

His expression was one of sheer terror. If it weren’t for the blood smeared all over his face, he would have looked as pale as a ghost. He tried to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, only to find that his hands were numb.

It’s hard to describe the feeling of being close to death unless you’ve experienced it yourself.

He Pengpeng also slid slowly down the cabinet behind him, as if he had no strength left in his body.

“That scared me to death…” he murmured, then suddenly asked, “Who do you think is stronger between those two? In my opinion, there’s no way the guy could beat that girl. She’s too fast, almost inhuman!”

Tang Xiaoxue let out a deep breath and then said slowly, “I have a different opinion. That girl was incredibly fast and struck so suddenly, yet he managed to block her at the last moment. If it were me, I couldn’t have done it. Even if my brain reacted in time and I knew I needed to stop her, my body wouldn’t have kept up. No… I wouldn’t even have been able to react in my mind. She was too fast…”

Though Tang Xiaoxue’s words were somewhat unclear, He Pengpeng showed a thoughtful expression. So, Ling Mo was stronger?

He must be, otherwise, why would the girl listen to him so well…

But He Pengpeng quickly gave up on thinking it through and slapped his thigh, saying, “Since they’re so powerful, tell me, who do you think is stronger compared to that Scumbag Couple?”

“Isn’t that obvious? There’s no way that Scumbag Couple is that strong. If they hadn’t latched onto that guy who claims to have special abilities, they wouldn’t have been able to act so arrogantly,” Tang Xiaoxue said with a hint of disdain.

Speaking of the Special Abilities User, a trace of skepticism flashed in He Pengpeng’s eyes. “Last time I heard that Scumbag Couple say that the Special Abilities User plans to gather all the survivors on campus and set up a large base. That’s just nonsense! And special abilities… I’ll believe it when I see it!”

Tang Xiaoxue, however, glanced at He Pengpeng with a complex expression and said softly, “I believe it.”

“Are you out of your mind? You really believe that stuff?”

“Why not? Look at the world we live in now. How many people would have believed that zombies would actually appear if it hadn’t really happened? If zombies are real, then having Special Abilities Users isn’t that unbelievable, right? I even heard that there was once a Special Abilities User at our school, but later on, there was no news about them. It seems they escaped.”

Tang Xiaoxue’s eyes suddenly turned somewhat sorrowful. “Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot. Back when I was bored, I used to post on forums saying stuff like it would be great if the world really ended…” He raised his hand and gave himself a slap, “How could I have been so careless with my words!”

He Pengpeng also shuddered and then reached out to pull Tang Xiaoxue, stopping him from slapping himself again. “Don’t do that. Do you really think your mouth is jinxed? This has nothing to do with your careless words.”

“Surviving is not easy, it’s hard, and it’s painful.” Tang Xiaoxue’s eyes were a bit moist. “I once thought it would be better to just die and join my parents underground. But just now… when that girl’s knife was right in front of me, I really thought I was going to die. Don’t laugh at me, but at that moment… I didn’t want to die at all. I didn’t want to die just like that! When the knife came down, I was scared to death!”

He Pengpeng looked at Tang Xiaoxue with some surprise, then burst into laughter. “Who would’ve thought! You’re actually so sentimental! He pointed to the area below his crotch. Sure enough, there was a wet spot where he was sitting…

Tang Xiaoxue immediately jumped up as if his tail had been stepped on, looking at He Pengpeng with a bizarre expression. The latter, however, didn’t seem embarrassed at all. Instead, he smiled bitterly and extended his hand to him. “Give me a hand, will you? My legs are too weak to get up…”

“You can just sit in your own piss all day for all I care… How did I get so unlucky to know you…”

After a good ten minutes, the two finally came downstairs, one after the other. Tang Xiaoxue carried a not-too-large backpack on his back, bulging with the medicines they had collected from the School Hospital.

He Pengpeng, on the other hand, walked with an odd gait. On closer inspection, one could see that his crotch and buttocks appeared to be damp…

They had followed Ling Mo’s advice and wiped off as much of the bloodstains on their bodies as possible. However, the stench clinging to them was not something that could be dealt with quickly.

As soon as they reached the second floor, Tang Xiaoxue stopped in his tracks, while He Pengpeng shuddered.

Outside one of the wards, Xia Na stood at the door, holding a Long Knife, her eyes coldly watching them. Her eyes had returned to normal by now, and Tang Xiaoxue even thought that the blood-red hue he had seen earlier was just a hallucination caused by fear.

The two of them hesitated at the staircase for quite a while before reluctantly moving forward.

“Um…” He Pengpeng had just started to speak when Xia Na turned her head and walked inside, saying, “Come in.”

Even her voice was emotionless… Could this be the legendary ice queen? He Pengpeng stood there with his mouth agape for a moment, then turned to Tang Xiaoxue and said, “Let’s go. She didn’t kill us earlier, so I don’t think she’ll make a move now. Let’s try to negotiate and trade for some food. It looks like they have a lot of supplies. If we can get more, not only will we be full, but we might also be able to sneak some back for them.”

“Don’t be stupid. Those Scumbag Couple will search us when we go back,” Tang Xiaoxue said with a bitter smile, shaking his head.

He Pengpeng gritted his teeth in anger and said, “Let them search! I’m only wearing this outfit anyway, let them search! I’ll stink them to death! Get their hands covered in piss! Hey, Tang Xiaoxue, do you want to pee too? We can’t beat those Scumbag Couple, but we can at least gross them out…”

“I think I’ll pass,” Tang Xiaoxue quickly declined. Seeing that He Pengpeng was about to continue persuading him, he hurriedly squeezed past him and into the room.

The ward was quite spacious, but it only had six beds sparsely arranged inside. This was understandable—despite the School Hospital’s impressive size, it usually just treated students with colds or stomach bugs who came in for an IV drip. Having too many beds would have been pointless.

Ling Mo and his group were gathered around one of the beds in the middle. As soon as they walked in, Tang Xiaoxue and He Pengpeng both froze.

“Four people…” He Pengpeng was visibly surprised. What shocked him more was that aside from Ling Mo, the other three were all girls, with one lying on the bed looking seriously ill.

One guy and three girls, with one of them being a patient—how on earth did they manage to survive and make it here?
