Extra Chapter 2 – Bunny
The foreign object was expelled from Cui Ti’s throat, and the pain in her abdomen vanished completely. The usually gentle and delicate beauty had a dazed expression on her face.
“What is this?”
Her voice was very soft, like the gentle descent of snowflakes from the heavens, covering everything in a layer of cold white, yet without the chill of snow, soft and incredibly close.
The bunny, covered with a thin layer of fine white fur, blinked its eyes. A crystal-clear tear fell to the ground, shattering and reflecting a beautiful light.
“Mom…” The bunny’s lips moved, its voice thin and weak, filled with grievance.
“What?”
Pei Xingguang’s usually stern face couldn’t hold back, showing a hint of an amusing crack.
“Mom!”
With a cry, the bunny tilted its head back and wailed.
It was as if it wanted to cry out all the grievances of being born prematurely in one go.
It cried as if the heavens were collapsing and the earth was shattering, making Cui Ti’s heart tremble.
“Mom?”
She… she had become a mother?
The little bunny hiccuped and fell to the ground, seeing that neither parent paid any attention to it-no kisses, no hugs, none of the expected joy or warmth. Its weak heart suddenly had a rare clarity: might as well cry to death!
With a tilt of its head, the entire bunny fainted.
It was originally a “premature bunny,” forced to mature by the divine power of another mother, a Divine Lord. Its fragile body couldn’t withstand such neglect and sorrowful tears.
Seeing the thin bunny collapse, Cui Ti’s heart leapt to her throat. She thought she was fast, but to her surprise, the seemingly stunned Pei Xuan was even faster by more than a step.
With trembling hands, Pei Xuan held the palm-sized soft bunny, confirming it was indeed a baby rabbit.
Her Niangzi was also a rabbit.
The baby bunny called Titi “Mom,” and she called Titi “Mom…”
The Literature Star, known for her brilliant mind, stood there as if struck by lightning.
“Divine Lord! The Immortal Healer has arrived!”
The Immortal Healer, who arrived late, stood decorously outside the door with her medicine box. Only after hearing the immortal attendant call her in did she wipe the nonexistent sweat from her forehead, raise her eyes, and step into the inner chamber. She didn’t have time to look up but felt the atmosphere was somewhat peculiar.
The Literature Star took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down and steady her trembling voice. She said, “Please, Immortal Healer, take a look at my Niangzi.”
The Immortal Healer quickly averted her gaze, her sleeve flicking as golden threads wrapped around Cui Ti’s delicate wrist. Her eyelashes fluttered, not daring to speak rashly. After confirming the normal pulse of someone who had just given birth, she glanced at the bunny carefully cradled in the Divine Lord’s palms. Her eyes widened, and her tongue tied up, “C-Congratulations, Divine Lord and Fairy, on the birth of your precious daughter!”
“Precious daughter!?”
Cui Ti was the first to lose her composure, looking blankly at Pei Xuan, “I-I gave birth to her?”
Was she really that capable?
Then she reconsidered. A big rabbit giving birth to a small rabbit was perfectly normal.
A rabbit giving birth to another rabbit-wasn’t that just the way it was?
The unique birthing method of two immortals might be a bit peculiar but still… normal.
Moreover, the bunny did indeed come from within her.
Without waiting for her beloved to give a definitive answer, Cui Ti’s gaze at the bunny was already one of joyful maternal love.
Fairy Jiaojiao was healthy, free from any ailments or worries.
After all, with her immortal physique, even giving birth didn’t cause more than initial abdominal pain, and she recovered quickly.
“Then, Immortal Healer, could you please examine our daughter?”
“Alright.”
The Immortal Healer couldn’t fathom how the Divine Lord had managed to produce a child in just a few days, but she couldn’t disobey Fairy Jiaojiao’s request. She lifted her eyes to take a peek at the stunned Divine Lord.
It was indeed a rare sight.
After so many years, it was the first time the Divine Lord had shown such an expression.
As she moved closer, Pei Xuan’s soul seemed to return to her body, and she carefully held the frail bunny. The Immortal Healer furrowed her brows, and Pei Xuan quickly asked, “How is she?”
The moment she asked, the Immortal Healer gave her a peculiar look.
“Not good.”
“What do you mean, not good?”
The Immortal Healer couldn’t resist pressing her fingertip lightly against the baby bunny’s belly. She quickly pulled back, not wanting to upset the Divine Lord, “She should have stayed in her mother’s womb longer but was born prematurely, so she’s naturally weak. How can that be good?”
“Born prematurely and weak?” Pei Xuan’s face turned ashen. “Did I harm her?”
The Immortal Healer dared not speak recklessly.
The Divine Lord’s divine power would have been too much for the bunny to bear if they weren’t connected by blood. But it wasn’t entirely Pei Xuan’s fault.
Who could have imagined that just three days after their return, they would have a child?
From the bottom of her heart, the Immortal Healer marveled, “Truly worthy of the Divine Lord.”
Upon learning that their daughter’s health was not robust, Cui Ti murmured, “How could this be?”
Pei Xuan’s face also looked grim.
Seeing the two of them each lost in their own guilt and sorrow, the Immortal Healer grew anxious and nearly bit her tongue. “Fortunately, the immortal palace isn’t lacking in spiritual herbs and supplements. There’s more than enough to nourish a bunny.”
“Really?” Pei Xuan’s eyes lit up with hope.
“I wouldn’t dare deceive the Divine Lord.”
“That’s good, that’s good…”
Without thinking further about the child’s origin, Pei Xuan’s mood shifted from worry to joy. The Immortal Healer, carrying her medicine box, hurried off to prepare sweet-tasting spiritual medicine for the bunny and quickly disappeared.
With no outsiders present, Cui Ti’s eyes filled with warm tears. “This is our daughter. Let me hold her.”
Pei Xuan carefully placed the bunny into Cui Ti’s arms—or rather, her palms.
Their daughter was so small that one hand could hold her.
Earlier, her weak body had caused her to cry and faint, and now her long ears drooped.
Pei Xuan felt deeply guilty. “It’s my fault for acting recklessly, causing her to be born prematurely.”
“It’s not your fault…” Cui Ti couldn’t believe they had a child so quickly either. “You were worried about my unbearable pain, and your concern led to chaos. It was my inexperience; I didn’t even realize I was pregnant with a bunny. I…”
Her eyes reddened, shimmering with tears.
They couldn’t get enough of looking at their daughter. Half an hour later, the Immortal Healer returned with prepared medicinal pellets. Pei Xuan personally fed them to the bunny. The little one, still unconscious, smacked her lips lazily, showing no sign of waking.
“She’s just tired,” the Immortal Healer explained.
Knowing their daughter was exhausted, Pei Xuan didn’t dare disturb her. She gently placed her in a cradle, and she and Cui Ti leaned over, one on each side, watching the baby.
They watched her little white belly rise and fall with each breath, her droopy ears, and her short tail.
The more they watched, the happier they felt.
After leaving a month’s supply of medicinal supplements, the Immortal Healer finally stepped out of the immortal palace. Along the way, she couldn’t help but marvel at the little bunny’s incredible fortune. To be born from Fairy Jiaojiao and become the beloved daughter of the Divine Lord—what immense luck.
However, such great fortune wasn’t without its challenges.
The little one had been mischievous, causing her mother such unbearable pain. If not for this, she would have been safely absorbing the essence of the immortal energy in her mother’s womb, growing stronger.
Instead, she was unexpectedly and amusingly brought into the world by divine power.
“Hey, Immortal Healer, why are you smiling?”
The passing Matchmaker God tugged at her medicine box.
The Immortal Healer chuckled, “There’s joyous news in the Heavenly Realm. How can I not be happy? Fairy Jiaojiao has a daughter, and the Divine Lord has an heir. This is a grand event!”
“W-What?” The Matchmaker God was stunned. “So soon?”
It had only been three days!
Where did the child come from?
For a time, the Heavenly Realm’s immortals were all discussing this matter.
It wasn’t until Ziwei Star, also a Divine Lord, came forward to explain that the bunny in the immortal palace was born in accordance with divine will. Fairy Jiaojiao was a rabbit immortal, and the Literature Star, having returned from her trials, had taken the place of the previous Divine Lord, now ranking among the Four Divine Lords. This fortuitous status signified great blessings and many offspring.
The child was born with innate intelligence, and soon, they might see the bunny hopping and chasing through the vast galaxy.
With this statement, the immortals were overjoyed, and a flood of gifts poured into the Literature Star’s immortal palace.
In recent years, the Heavenly Realm had been sparsely populated, and it was difficult for immortals and gods to conceive offspring. However, the heavens favored the Literature Star, who was also adept at winning a spouse. Her wife was a rabbit immortal, and rabbits tend to have large litters. Although their firstborn was just one, it had taken less than three days from conception to birth.
Cui Ti, unaware of how envious the other immortals were of her condition, lay quietly on the bed. She transformed into a rabbit, and her little one, a spitting image of her, crawled all over her belly with all its might.
“Mom, Mom…”
The bunny’s mouth produced human words in a babyish voice, which made Cui Ti’s heart melt.
The little bunny was timid and couldn’t help but cry at the sight of her. Cui Ti had to conceal her form, while the envious Pei Xuan, with her “criminal record,” secretly accompanied the mother and daughter.
Cui Ti glanced smilingly in Pei Xuan’s direction, “Does the bunny not like Mother?”
Her mother was none other than the Literature Star, one of the Four Divine Lords.
The bunny’s perky ears suddenly drooped, “Mother doesn’t like me.”
Pei Xuan, anxious, was about to reveal herself, thinking, “How could she not like you? You’re her precious bunny!”
“I was greeting Mom from inside her belly, but Mother used divine power to force me out. If I didn’t come out, she was going to hit me…” The bunny’s eyes welled up with tears.
…
Cui Ti was silent for a moment, thinking to herself: So the excruciating pain she felt was actually the bunny greeting her.
“It was your mother’s fault. How could anyone hit such a cute bunny? Right?”
“Exactly!” The bunny stood up on her hind legs proudly, puffing out her little chest. “I have ears as long as Mom’s and a short tail too!”
“Is that so…”
Cui Ti gently touched her short, barely visible bunny tail. The bunny protested, “When I grow up, it’ll be just as long! And just as short!”
Pfft!
It was too cute.
Pei Xuan couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The bunny’s ears perked up alertly, her young voice demanding, “Who! Who’s eavesdropping on my conversation with Mom?”
A flash of golden light, and Pei Xuan stepped forward.
Seeing her, the bunny dove into her mother’s arms, her fur puffing up into a fluffy white ball.
Cui Ti, smiling, gently smoothed her daughter’s fur.
Pei Xuan knelt down, pleading, “It was Mother’s fault. Mother didn’t know you were in Mom’s belly. If she had known, she would never have hurt you.”
The bunny’s short tail wagged furiously, making everyone dizzy.
In the few days that passed, Pei Xuan had managed to consult several parenting manuals. Almost instinctively, she reached out and held her daughter’s short, fluffy tail. The bunny froze, staying perfectly still.
“Will you forgive Mother?”
A bunny pendant, formed from her life essence, hung around the bunny’s neck. The bunny looked down and noticed the pendant resembled her.
Wait.
It moved?
She wriggled a bit, kicked her mother away with her hind legs, and sat up, excitedly playing with the pendant hanging around her neck.
Sometimes, the bunny pendant opened its eyes, and other times, it transformed into a red carrot.
Curiosity piqued.
She took a bite of the “carrot.”
A gentle, pure divine power flowed through her body like a spring breeze in April.
What medicine in the world could compare to the life essence of a Divine Lord from the Heavenly Realm?
Feeling the deep affection her mother had for her, the bunny shyly lifted her head. “You can’t hit me again.”
“I won’t, but if you do something wrong, you still need to be disciplined. Otherwise, you’ll become a naughty bunny.”
“I won’t!”
Pei Xuan extended her hand, looking at her expectantly.
The bunny looked at Mom, received an encouraging nod, and with a determined bite of her lip, hopped into her mother’s palm. She tried to roll over, noticing her mother’s anxious expression, clearly deeply concerned for her safety.
She wiggled her little bottom and turned her back to her.
A kiss landed on her bunny head.
Cui Ti watched closely. Her daughter with Xingguang had visibly become a dopey bunny.
Another kiss.
This time it fell on her white and pink bunny ear.
The bunny jumped in surprise but was quickly pinned down by her mother’s swift hands.
“Okay, okay, I know you love me very, very much.” She covered her red ears and, after a while, opened her moist eyes, turned around, and sweetly called out, “Mother.”
Reconciled, Pei Xuan excitedly called her “little bunny baby,” showering her with sweet words. Not only the little bunny, but even the big bunny couldn’t resist.
While her daughter was being coaxed into a daze, the Literature Star couldn’t resist and gave her daughter’s short tail a playful touch.
Having received the life essence of a Divine Lord, the bunny’s frailty was entirely gone. Her bunny legs left afterimages as she ran, huffing, “Mother is bullying the bunny again!”
Watching her daughter run off, Pei Xuan’s eyes sparkled with laughter.
Cui Ti chided her for her playful nature but then deliberately let her own fluffy bunny tail show.
The bunny, peeking from the doorway, saw Mother playing with Mom’s snowy, beautiful tail. She hastily covered her eyes and ran off.
“Oh my!”
“Mother is shameless! Mom is shameless!”
