Chapter 8 – Sharing a Bed with a Pervert
Once Lin Xi finished the housework, Shi Yu made her act as a model again to continue the work they hadn’t finished at noon.
“Strip,” Shi Yu said, short and to the point.
“Pervert-” Lin Xi’s face flushed crimson as she gritted her teeth and cursed.
You really can’t judge a book by its cover. How could the Cuddle Witch ever want to cuddle with a pervert like Shi Yu?
Fine, the Cuddle Witch is a pervert too… but I’m not!
Lin Xi accepted the change in her identity and gender, but she still maintained her original, pure, and noble character!
She had to find a way to get rid of this pervert, Shi Yu.
At worst, she could just make a run for it and flee Z City.
“Hey, Shi Yu, I’ve kept a tab on your food, lodging, and my modeling fees.”
“Keep track all you want, I’ll pay you back. As for when, well, that’s hard to say.”
Shi Yu adopted the posture of a deadbeat who acted like the one being owed, completely ignoring Lin Xi’s words.
Lin Xi tried a different approach. “Once you get the payment for this manuscript, you’re at least getting out of my house. That’s fair, right?”
“Depends on the situation,” Shi Yu said with a wicked smirk. “Maybe the one who should get out of this house is you.”
Shi Yu put on the face of a feudal-era landlord bully, intent on seizing Lin Xi’s property. “Since when do witches have property? If you get caught by the Countermeasures Bureau one day, it’d be better to gift this house to me than let them confiscate it.”
“In your dreams!” Lin Xi shot back angrily.
Even if she were to give it away, Lin Xi would only give her property and assets to Zhao Xinning.
Give it to Shi Yu? She’d rather let the Countermeasures Bureau take it.
“Sigh-” Shi Yu let out a long breath. “No good deed goes unpunished.”
Lin Xi: “…”
“Where’s the ‘good deed’ in any of this?!”
“Shi Yu, compared to me, you’re the one who looks like an evil witch!”
Shi Yu sighed again and said, “I didn’t report you to the Countermeasures Bureau. Isn’t that a good deed?”
“By all rights, you should be weeping with gratitude right now. It wouldn’t even be an exaggeration to treat me like your second mother.”
Lin Xi wasn’t falling for it. “Stop trying to PUA1 me. It won’t work!”
“Fine,” Shi Yu said. “I’ll move out once I have money. As for when I’ll have money, that’s hard to say.”
Shi Yu’s shamelessness made Lin Xi’s blood boil.
“Okay, that’s enough drawing for now.” Shi Yu put down her tablet. “I’m so tired. Come over and massage my shoulders and legs.”
Shi Yu certainly knew how to boss people around.
She leaned back comfortably against the sofa, tilting her head back tactically. “Get moving, my maid.”
Lin Xi walked around to the back of the sofa. The moment her hands touched Shi Yu’s shoulders, a notification appeared in her mind:
[Cuddle with Shi Yu successful!]
There was also a cuddle timer, indicating how much Lin Xi’s lifespan would be extended by this interaction.
Lin Xi felt like she was “charging.”
Had she been transformed by some mysterious, evil technology into a smart machine that could only be recharged by cuddling with young girls?
“Didn’t you eat? Put some muscle into it,” Shi Yu commanded.
Drawing for a long time had left her shoulders stiff and sore.
You want muscle? Lin Xi pressed down hard, making Shi Yu jump up from the sofa.
“Are you trying to murder me?!”
“You told me to put some muscle into it. I just added a tiny bit of force.”
“You’re something else.” Shi Yu sat back down. “Rub my legs. I’ll be watching you to make sure you don’t try anything.”
Shi Yu rested her legs on Lin Xi’s lap. “Ah, having you rub my legs… is this a reward for a pervert like you?”
Actually, it really was a reward. Lin Xi noticed the notification in her mind update: rubbing Shi Yu’s legs doubled the lifespan extension rate!
Lin Xi found it hard to keep a straight face.
After enjoying Lin Xi’s leg massage for a while, Shi Yu got up to take a shower.
Shi Yu asked with a mischievous grin:
“Perverted Witch, do you want me to reward you by letting us bathe together?”
Lin Xi agreed decisively. “Sure.”
Following the principle that “only a pervert can defeat a pervert,” Lin Xi decided she couldn’t keep backing down. Offense was the best defense.
“Wait right there, I’ll go start the hot water.”
Lin Xi’s sudden enthusiasm caught Shi Yu off guard.
“Stop!” Shi Yu panicked slightly. “Perverted Witch, your true nature is finally showing!”
“I’m not giving you that kind of chance!”
Shi Yu rushed into the bathroom alone and locked the door.
“Finally, some peace and quiet…” Lin Xi checked her remaining lifespan.
After several instances of cuddling with Zhao Xinning and Shi Yu today, she had successfully extended her life by one day.
“At least I don’t have to worry about dropping dead tomorrow.”
…
After finishing her nightly routine, Lin Xi returned to her bedroom.
She finally had time to search the room properly for any diaries, photo albums, or anything else the Cuddle Witch might have left behind that could help trigger her memories.
Lin Xi hoped to recall the Cuddle Witch’s past. It would help her understand this world and cope with her current life.
In the classroom today, she had been so awkward that she felt like a transfer student on her first day. If she had the witch’s memories, she wouldn’t find herself in such embarrassing situations.
Most importantly, Lin Xi wanted to remember who had killed the Cuddle Witch.
That killer was a potential threat. If they found out she hadn’t actually died, would they come back to finish the job?
“What a terrible start…”
Lin Xi turned the bedroom upside down but found nothing.
Knock knock knock knock knock!
A frantic pounding on the door sounded like a sudden rainstorm hitting the wood.
Lin Xi jumped, startled.
“Open the door!” a scream came from outside. “Hurry, open up! Let me in!”
Shi Yu’s voice from outside the door made Lin Xi’s heart race.
“Shi Yu?”
“Did a zombie virus break out? Are you turning into one?!”
The urgent pounding and Shi Yu’s panicked screams made Lin Xi imagine a classic scene from a zombie movie where someone begs for help from outside a barricaded door.
“There’s a cockroach!” Shi Yu shrieked. “There’s a cockroach in the guest room!”
Lin Xi paused, stunned. “That’s it?”
“That cockroach can fly!” Shi Yu yelled.
If Lin Xi didn’t open the door soon, it sounded like she was going to break it down.
The moment the door opened, Shi Yu flew inside like a bolt of lightning, jumped onto the bed, and buried herself under the covers.
“Close the door, quick! Don’t let it fly in!”
“Aren’t you being a bit dramatic?” Lin Xi closed the door. “It’s just a flying cockroach.”
Shi Yu poked her head out from under the blanket. “You’re not afraid of cockroaches? As expected of a witch-you’re actually not afraid of them?!”
“There are humans who aren’t afraid of cockroaches too,” Lin Xi said, too tired to argue. “Give me a few minutes, I’ll go swat it.”
“I’m not going back to the guest room!” Shi Yu gripped the blanket tight. “I’m sleeping here tonight!”
“Fine, I’ll go sleep in the guest room.”
“No, you’re sleeping here too!”
“Huh?!”
“Because you’re not afraid of cockroaches!”
Lin Xi never expected that a villain like Shi Yu would be so terrified of a bug. It really was a case of everyone having a weakness; even a villain could be brought low by a cockroach.
Under Shi Yu’s forced command, Lin Xi had no choice but to stay in the bedroom.
“Letting a pervert like you sleep in the same bed as me is really doing you a favor,” Shi Yu said. “Don’t you dare try anything weird!”
“Heh, then I’m leaving.” Lin Xi started to get up. “See ya~”
Shi Yu immediately grabbed her hand. “I bet you wouldn’t dare do anything perverted anyway-“
Lin Xi lay back down. Naturally, she wasn’t going to do anything to Shi Yu. She wasn’t choosing to stay here to protect Shi Yu from the terror of a cockroach, either.
It was just that… if she cuddled for the whole night, she could survive at least one more day!
“Shi Yu,” Lin Xi said as she settled back down, Shi Yu still clinging to her arm. “Have you ever heard of the ‘thousand cockroach’ theory?”
“When you find one cockroach in a house-“
“Shut up!” Shi Yu shouted rudely. “If I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist!”
Lin Xi really wanted to point out that there seemed to be a little guy scuttling in the corner of the room.
Forget it.
She didn’t want Shi Yu to start screaming and wake the neighbors.
Before long, she heard the sound of Shi Yu’s steady breathing. Shi Yu had fallen asleep.
Lin Xi was also exhausted. Wrapped in the faint scent of citrus, she drifted off into dreamland.
