“Taking out the lab where they make superpowered monsters is fine,” Lin Xi said. “As for killing people…”

“It’s not like you’ve never killed before,” Shi Yu said. “Didn’t you wipe out the Shock Shark Gang for Zhao Xinning?”

“Ah, I think you’ve misunderstood,” Shi Yu added. “I’ve got a kill list. Every single person on it is guilty of monstrous crimes. We just follow the list.”

“Oh, that’s what you mean.” Lin Xi let out a breath of relief. “I thought you wanted to slaughter everyone at Shuguang Technology for revenge. That would’ve been way too extreme.”

Once everything had been sorted out, Qin Ling asked everyone else to leave.

She needed to perform preliminary surgical treatment on Shi Yu.

Lin Xi was utterly stunned. “Qin Ling, is there anything you can’t do? You’re good at everything.”

“Nothing can stump this genius,” Qin Ling said proudly. “But I’m only handling the initial treatment. Sister Lin is already on her way from S City. She’ll help Shi Yu recover properly.”

Sister Lin was their superior. Lin Xi had only spoken to this boss once over the phone, but her impression of her was very good.

Lin Xi, Zheng Mo, and Lu Yi left one after another.

“Lin Xi-” Shi Yu called out.

Before going home, Lin Xi followed Qin Ling’s advice and bought a detector, planning to sweep her place and see if there were any micro-listening devices.

She was destined to find nothing, because Zhao Xinning had already gotten there first. Using the spare key she had secretly copied, she entered Lin Xi’s home.

Then she took away the micro-listening devices hidden in Lin Xi’s backpack and under the dining table in the living room.

Zhao Xinning had predicted Qin Ling’s prediction. She knew Qin Ling and the others would realize someone had been listening in on them.

So after returning home and hiding the gun, she came to Lin Xi’s place to clean up the loose ends.

Zhao Xinning erased every trace and returned home.

As far as she was concerned, Shi Yu was dead, and she had handled everything flawlessly. It was all perfect.

“That scourge Shi Yu is finally dead.” Zhao Xinning flopped onto her bed in a wonderful mood. “Next, I need to find a way to purify Xi.”
