Chapter 96 – Strength is Also a Part of Luck

If they hadn’t just witnessed the fierce methods of Ling Mo and Xia Na, any Survivor seeing a group like theirs—one man, three women, and even a patient—would probably have had some wicked thoughts.

A large backpack full of food… If they had to collect it themselves, the risks involved would be unimaginable. Compared to risking their lives to gather supplies, it’s obviously much easier to take them without effort.

Even people like He Pengpeng and Tang Xiaoxue, when starving, might not resort to killing for food, but would likely forcefully take some of it.

From the moment they met Ling Mo, both he and He Pengpeng had assumed that Ling Mo, like them, was one of the Survivors on campus, perhaps even someone who usually operated nearby.

As for the three girls inside, Xia Na was self-explanatory, and Lin Luanqiu didn’t seem much older. Especially Ye Lian’s face, which looked somewhat familiar to them. Although they couldn’t immediately place her, they were certain she was also a student at X City University. This further confirmed their assumption.

Since they were all schoolmates, they should be able to discuss things properly, He Pengpeng thought.

Little did they know, Ling Mo’s group had actually come from outside…

After taking the medication, Lin Luanqiu had fallen into a drowsy sleep. However, the moment Tang Xiaoxue’s unfamiliar voice sounded, she immediately woke up, alert.

“Zombies?! No, wait…” She had barely spoken when she saw the two Survivors standing at the door, her pale face showing extreme surprise.

These two, though they reeked and had no clean spot on them, looked like zombies at first glance. But zombies wouldn’t just stand there stupidly like that.

One of them even awkwardly waved an arm, seemingly trying to greet them…

Upon closer inspection, their human eyes could be seen under their messy, blood-stained hair. The hair was matted with congealed blood, covering most of their eyes, making them appear quite deceptive at first glance.

However, compared to their previous state, they were much better now. If they had looked ninety percent like zombies and ten percent like humans before, now at least it was fifty-fifty.

Ye Lian glanced at them, a trace of confusion flashing in her eyes. Thanks to Ling Mo’s timely reassurance, she didn’t react like Xia Na, who might have rushed forward to cut down these pseudo-zombies.

Ling Mo, upon seeing them, had also wondered how zombies identify their own kind. It seemed they did so through the Virus.

They had used multiple layers of protection, but it was likely only the virus-laden zombie blood that was effective. Despite the uncertainty of whether it would work, these two had actually done it, showing some courage.

However, Ling Mo felt that while this method could be a temporary trick, it wasn’t suitable for long-term use.

Although the Virus probably wouldn’t penetrate the skin, who knew what effects prolonged exposure to zombie blood might have?

Moreover, any minor injury, even a small cut, would be akin to digging their own graves.

Moreover, blending in with a group of Zombies is far from safe! The Zombie horde is constantly evolving, and evolution means killing.

To them, humans are food, and their own kind are supplements!

Naturally, food is something they need every day, but when they have the chance to consume supplements, they won’t miss the opportunity either.

These two have survived this long partly through their own efforts and partly due to luck. But one must admit, sometimes luck is a part of one’s strength.

“How could there be…” Lin Luanqiu began, puzzled. It seemed she hadn’t expected to encounter Survivors here.

This area was actually the central part of X City University. As the number of Zombies increased, so did the number of Survivors.

Although the Survivors on campus were scattered, numerically, the Survivors in the central area were definitely more numerous.

However, this School Hospital wasn’t suitable as a hiding place. Coming and going would involve great risk, and any slight mistake could attract Zombies from the nearby basketball court. Thus, while there were certainly many Survivors in this area, they wouldn’t choose the School Hospital as their base!

“I found them on the third floor just now,” Ling Mo said, adding, “They arrived before us and have the medications.”

Lin Luanqiu glanced at them in surprise, finding it hard to believe that these two had the guts to venture out for medications. She could tell they didn’t even have weapons…

Ordinary Survivors would be hard-pressed to take such a risk unless it was for food. And judging by their appearance, they didn’t seem to be in urgent need of medical treatment.

It wasn’t until Ling Mo helped treat her wounds twice that some of her distrust dissipated. As a fellow superhuman, she could clearly sense that Ling Mo seemed to grow stronger with each battle.

And the two women by his side were no ordinary people either…
