Chapter 64 – Sequence ①⑧
Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds
Hearing the sharp whistle piercing through the air, Chu Ziling's muddled mind was jolted into a brief moment of clarity by Wen Yu's murderous intent.
He immediately clenched his right fist and threw a punch through the air toward Wen Yu's position.
A condensed ball of fire lunged directly at Wen Yu. By the time Wen Yu dispersed the fireball with a single slash, Chu Ziling had already flickered away, retreating to the back of the crowd.
"The guy still managed to get away."
Wen Yu sighed inwardly. He had no intention of pursuing him and immediately sheathed his blade, returning to the area near Pandora's Box.
While there was a gap in their combat power, it wasn't a complete stomp. However, Chu Ziling's speed left Wen Yu feeling quite helpless.
Not far behind the crowd, Chu Ziling stood atop a large tree. He had finally recovered from the dizziness and pain caused by the Soul Strike, and his expression was grim as he stared at Wen Yu, who was guarding Pandora's Box.
Since childhood, he had followed his master to practice traditional martial arts. When it came to fighting, he had never feared anyone. Especially after the Apocalypse began, his strength-which far exceeded that of ordinary people-had earned him two S-Rank Skills and the title of Sequence 7.
He had originally believed he was the protagonist and the chosen genius of this era. He never expected to be taught such a harsh lesson by Wen Yu in this Treasure Land!
In this world, there was never a shortage of people who possessed both luck and strength.
The battle between Wen Yu and Chu Ziling seemed to involve many exchanges, but in the eyes of the onlookers, only a few short seconds had passed.
They looked at Wen Yu, who was covered in wounds yet still blocked the path to Pandora's Box, and then at Chu Ziling, who had no visible injuries but had fled far away with a dark expression. The realization dawned on them immediately.
The man with the Big Dog had won!
Shortly after, another flash of Teleportation light swept through.
A large number of Class Holders whose Physical Attributes had not reached 20 Points were teleported out of the Treasure Land.
After witnessing the fight between Wen Yu and Chu Ziling, these people suddenly understood something: this competition belonged only to a select few. The weak didn't even have an entry ticket.
Fewer and fewer people remained, but many had landed in areas of Demon Island extremely far from Wen Yu's current location and had not yet arrived.
Meanwhile, in the central area of Demon Island, Sun Ruixing desperately dodged a Steel Blade swinging behind him before raising his shield to block a powerful kick aimed at his back!
Immense force exploded against the shield. The Wooden Shield, already battered and scarred, was instantly smashed to pieces by the heavy blow!
Sun Ruixing was sent flying by the impact.
"You piece of filth, how dare you interfere with my fun! You're looking for death. It's a pity that little bitch got away, but I'm going to skin you alive today!"
As the angry voice rang out, Sun Ruixing forced himself to sit up, looking at the bear-like Class Holder opposite him.
It was a burly white man. Under the rules of the Treasure Land, different languages were translated directly into each Class Holder's native tongue. Therefore, Sun Ruixing could clearly hear the murderous intent and rage in the man's words.
Just moments ago, Sun Ruixing had been rushing toward the location of Pandora's Box when he accidentally stumbled upon this white man assaulting a petite female Class Holder.
Given Sun Ruixing's personality, he hadn't hesitated for a second. He had charged forward immediately to engage the burly man in combat.
Unfortunately, Sun Ruixing was a Level 1 Class Holder, while this man was Level 2!
The woman had already seized the opportunity to teleport out of the Treasure Land, leaving Sun Ruixing alone to face this rampaging grizzly bear.
By now, Sun Ruixing's shield had been shattered by the Level 2 Class Holder, leaving him with no way to fight back.
He desperately gripped his only remaining weapon, a Steel Blade. Unfortunately, for someone with the Shield Warrior Class, a Steel Blade was never meant to be a primary weapon.
He watched as the burly man opposite him, face twisted in a savage grin, closed in step by step.
Just as Sun Ruixing was about to launch a final, suicidal strike, a massive arc of sword light flashed behind the brute.
The man didn't even have time to react before the blade light sliced him clean in half. Organs and intestines spilled across the ground in a gruesome display.
The momentum of the sword light didn't dissipate; it whistled past Sun Ruixing's ear and tore into the nearby woods.
A series of thunderous booms followed as the trees caught in its path were blown to splinters by the sheer power of the strike.
Only then did a figure clad in heavy armor slowly walk up to Sun Ruixing.
The man looked like a protagonist straight out of a medieval film-he had a handsome, chiseled face, piercing blue eyes, and a head of brilliant short blonde hair that shimmered faintly in the dappled sunlight. He wore a suit of heavy full-plate armor that was clearly more than just decorative; every step he took caused the ground to rumble as if a miniature earthquake were passing through.
A massive greatsword rested casually against his shoulder.
That lethal arc of light had come from this very weapon.
Taking in the stranger's appearance, Sun Ruixing slumped to the ground.
It was sheer terror. The sensation of that sword light brushing past his ear just moments ago had given him a visceral taste of death.
Sun Ruixing lowered his head deeply, panting heavily, seemingly unable to look directly at the knight who radiated such an aura of brilliance.
That was until a gauntleted hand was extended toward him.
"Friend, can you still move?"
A warm, resonant voice spoke. The warmth and charisma in his tone were enough to make even a man like Sun Ruixing feel a slight tremor in his heart.
It was clear just how powerful this man's personal magnetism was.
Sun Ruixing stared blankly at the man's face, which was framed by a gentle smile. After a moment's hesitation, he placed his hand in the knight's.
With a surge of immense strength, the knight pulled Sun Ruixing to his feet.
"Here, take this."
The knight removed a gauntlet, revealing a ring identical in design to the one Wen Yu wore.
With a quick swipe over the ring, an Intermediate Healing Potion appeared in the knight's hand. He pressed it into Sun Ruixing's palm.
"Drink it."
Sun Ruixing looked at the item-something he couldn't possibly afford to exchange for-and hesitated before asking, "You… you're not going to kill me?"
"Why would I kill you?"
"We are competitors here. Besides, you're stronger than me!"
Sun Ruixing voiced the prevailing logic of the current world.
The knight looked at Sun Ruixing earnestly, his bright eyes momentarily dazing the other man.
As that melodic voice spoke again, the knight said slowly, "What you say is the reality, but it isn't what is right."
"People like you should live and grow stronger. People like that man back there are the ones who deserve to die. That is the correct way of thinking."
"I might not be able to change everyone's perspective, but I can hold fast to my own."
"So, drink the potion and come with me. I can't protect you forever, but as long as I am here in this Treasure Land, you will not die!"
"This is the conviction and the promise of a Knight!"
