Chapter 133 – The Decision

Volume 3: Rising Winds and Clouds

"I recommend abandoning the Outpost Treasure Land!"

Kuangliu fell silent briefly on the other end of the communicator before speaking gravely.

"It's that strong?"

"Level 5 Peak. Every one of its Skills is a powerful Spatial Ability. Its offense, defense, and mobility are all top-tier."

Kuangliu remained silent for a long time before answering.

"Come back first. We haven't reached the Outpost yet. We'll discuss this once we arrive."

Wen Yu ended the call without another word.

Kuangliu's meaning was clear. Even before considering the Military's High Command, Kuangliu himself could not accept being driven out of a Treasure Land by a single member of the Demon Race.

Wen Yu had no intention of trying too hard to dissuade them.

Everyone had their own considerations and made their own decisions. Most importantly, everyone had to pay the price for those decisions.

All Wen Yu could do was state the facts and make his own choice.

…

He checked Xing inside the Third Soul Realm. The Soul Realm's healing power was considerable, but Xing's injuries were horrifying. Combined with the unknown energy left behind by Dimensionality Reduction Strike, his wounds were healing very slowly.

Wen Yu recalled Faceless into the Soul Realm Space.

The blood Faceless absorbed counted as foreign energy. The moment it entered the Soul Realm Space, Perfect Replication was automatically canceled.

Wen Yu then summoned One-Eye.

Apart from Faceless, neither of Wen Yu's other Soul Pets had played any role in the battle against the Ancient Demon Seed.

That was not particularly strange. Wen Yu had always cultivated One-Eye and Xing as close-combat fighters, and their fighting styles reflected that. Against a bizarre and powerful Skill configuration like the Ancient Demon Seed's, they had been able to accomplish almost nothing.

It was simply one Skill system suppressing another.

Assembling an Ability system like the Ancient Demon Seed's would also be extraordinarily difficult.

Moreover, Wen Yu did not believe a Beast Attribute Ability system was inherently so much weaker than a spatial one. Xing's current inability to defeat the Ancient Demon Seed did not mean Xing at Level 5 Peak would lose to an Ancient Demon Seed at the same level.

With just one overwhelmingly powerful SSS-Rank Skill, One-Eye's or Xing's combat power would undoubtedly take a tremendous leap.

One-Eye had felt his own helplessness as well. He lowered his enormous head and whined softly.

Pain tightened Wen Yu's chest. He gently stroked One-Eye's head and spoke solemnly.

"Trust me, and trust yourself. We'll work together. I'll make you an existence comparable to a Divine Beast Species, and it won't take long. That's my promise, old friend."

"Awoo…"

One-Eye made an indistinct sound and forcefully nudged Wen Yu with his head.

"I believe you! This Dog-Ge will become a peerless super hound!"

"That's more like it."

Wen Yu smiled, patted One-Eye's head, and vaulted onto his back.

One-Eye was naturally optimistic-or, less politely, utterly carefree. Wen Yu's promise completely dispelled his sense of helplessness, and he forgot the matter at once. He sniffed the air through his huge nostrils, caught Kuangliu's and the others' scents, and raced after the distant Vehicle Convoy.

…

Inside the convoy, Kuangliu ended his call with Wen Yu. He held the steering wheel and drove with narrowed eyes, his thoughts unknown.

After a while, he spoke.

"Wen Yu just radioed. He said the Ancient Demon escaped, then advised us to evacuate the Outpost quickly. What do you think?"

An almost imperceptible smile hung on Yang Pengguang's face as he answered slowly and firmly.

"I don't think we should abandon the Outpost. The future returns from this Treasure Land will be enormous. If we give it up, then in the less than three months remaining before the Demon Disaster, the Military will have no way to improve its strength except by hunting Mutant Beasts."

Kuangliu nodded in agreement.

Claire and Andrei, seated in the rear, voiced no objection. Clearly, they were unwilling to relinquish the Outpost Treasure Land as well.

Silence filled the vehicle.

After a while, Kuangliu spoke again.

"Once Wen Yu returns, I'll ask him for every detail about the Demonic Creature's Skills, and we'll look for a countermeasure. I refuse to abandon the Outpost because of one Demonic Creature, and the Military's High Command won't agree to it either."

Kuangliu stepped hard on the accelerator. The Military vehicle roared and surged forward.

Behind it, the transport vehicle carrying the Demon Qi Shield Generator was pulled by a steel cable attached to the lead vehicle and also began moving faster.

…

Compared with Xing, One-Eye's speed was like a train beside an airplane. The difference was enormous.

But One-Eye was no old-fashioned, slow train. He was more like a high-speed rail line and moved extremely quickly.

At the very least, he was much faster than the convoy burdened by the Demon Qi Shield Generator.

In less than half an hour, the convoy-crawling along in Wen Yu's eyes-appeared in the distance.

…

When Kuangliu saw One-Eye's enormous figure approaching from behind, he stopped and waited for Wen Yu.

Yang Pengguang, seated in the passenger seat, looked at Wen Yu and One-Eye drawing closer. Shock flashed through his eyes.

When the Ancient Demon Seed first attacked the convoy, Yang Pengguang had felt its power. He had assumed Wen Yu's claim that he drove the creature away was merely face-saving talk. But judging by Wen Yu's damaged clothing, wounds, and mental state, Sequence 2 might truly have defeated the Ancient Demon Seed head-on.

Yang Pengguang narrowed his eyes in thought. Then he opened the door, got out, and silently moved to the back seat.

Wen Yu showed no ceremony. He nodded to Yang Pengguang from a distance, ordered One-Eye to enter his miniature form, picked him up, and strode into the Military vehicle.

…

Kuangliu silently restarted the vehicle and raised an eyebrow at Wen Yu.

Wen Yu organized his thoughts briefly before speaking.

"That Ancient Demon's Physical Attribute has reached Level 5 Peak. Based on my assessment, all five of its Skills are S-Rank or higher Spatial Abilities."

"Perfect defense, attacks that ignore defense, and Teleportation."

After briefly explaining the Ancient Demon Seed's Skills, Wen Yu leaned back, closed his eyes, and rested.
