Chapter 87 – Three-Step Strategy (Part ①)

Hearing the voices from below, Lin Haifeng carefully studied the officers who wanted to withdraw from the Treasure Land, then slowly nodded.

He looked as though he were seriously considering what they had said, but in reality…

"That old man is ruthless as hell. I'm guessing a whole lot of people are going to lose their positions once this meeting is over…"

Kuangliu's gleeful voice reached Wen Yu's ears, making the corner of Wen Yu's mouth twitch slightly.

No one knew a father better than his son. Kuangliu knew his old man's methods and thoughts inside and out!

Lin Haifeng's strategic philosophy was simple: they had to fight!

This was only an Outpost Battle. If the entire Huaxia Military fled with its tail between its legs now, how were they supposed to fight once the Demon Realm Gate officially opened? How could they possibly retain the fighting spirit to resist?

So, in Lin Haifeng's eyes, these cautious officers who lacked fighting spirit were probably no longer suited for the front lines…

The way Lin Haifeng presided over the meeting up front while Kuangliu provided commentary from below made Wen Yu feel as though he were watching a live broadcast, which he found rather amusing.

Kuangliu still wasn't finished.

"Look at the officers who oppose continuing the fight. You should be able to hear their heartbeats, right? Every last one of them sounds like a drum. Personally, I think these guys are best suited to handling logistics in the rear."

Wen Yu gave a noncommittal nod.

At that moment, Lin Haifeng, seated at the head of the table, seemed to reach a decision and promptly rapped his knuckles against the tabletop.

A Level 3 Class Holder possessed considerable strength, but Lin Haifeng kept his power under perfect control. The table remained undamaged, while the discussions below immediately fell silent.

"I have a general understanding of your views. Overall, most of you still believe we should remain here and wage war against the Demonic Creatures, correct?"

Everyone below nodded. This time, even the conservatives didn't dare voice any objections.

"Then today's meeting will focus primarily on how we intend to fight."

After Lin Haifeng finished speaking, he motioned for the secretary beside him to take out several documents, then continued.

"First, I drew up several basic strategic objectives for this war yesterday. Pass them around and read through them."

Lin Haifeng's strategic plan was extremely straightforward.

"It consists of three main strategic objectives!"

"The first and most important objective is to train our troops. I assume no one has any objections to that?"

Everyone below nodded in unison. Even Wen Yu fully agreed with this point!

What was the greatest benefit of this Treasure Land?

Without question, it provided a stable way to earn Points, though it certainly wasn't without danger!

Even so, it was far better than searching everywhere for Mutant Creatures!

Once the Demon Realm Gate opened, those Mutant Creatures would become their allies. But even setting that aside, the current number of Mutant Creatures was already a major problem.

Earth teemed with life and possessed an incredible diversity of species, but at the present stage, the concentration of Demon Qi on Earth was nowhere near high enough to cause every living organism to become Mutated!

At the very least, the vast majority of plants and nearly all insects and microorganisms had not become Mutated.

Even among animals such as rats, cats, and dogs, a small portion had yet to become Mutated.

And killing ordinary plants and animals awarded no Points…

As far as Lin Haifeng was concerned, earning Points by slaughtering Mutant Creatures amounted to weakening their own side.

This alone revealed a great deal about Lin Haifeng's methods, as well as his attitude toward Mutant Creatures.

"But the key question is how we're going to train our troops."

Before any of the officers below could voice an opinion, Lin Haifeng continued.

"Fang Wenhai, brief us on the Bipedal Lizard horde's movements first."

At Lin Haifeng's order, Fang Wenhai nodded and began his report.

"At present, the Bipedal Lizard horde is entrenched inside Demon City. Three consecutive waves of missile strikes may have frightened them, as they currently show no signs of leaving the city to launch an attack. However, according to our observations, the Black Vortex within Demon City is still using Teleportation to send a steady stream of Bipedal Lizards through. Judging by their numbers, the entire city is nearly packed to capacity!"

"The Outpost command estimates that they may eventually split into numerous small units. This would solve the problem of Demon City's limited troop capacity while also protecting them from bombardment by modern weaponry."

After listening to Fang Wenhai's report, Wen Yu silently ran through the possibilities, then nodded.

In his opinion, Fang Wenhai's assessment was correct. Splitting into smaller units was indeed an excellent way to counter missile bombardment.

Moreover, the Bipedal Lizard race had no fear of a war of attrition. Their terrifying reproductive ability meant that the very concept of population numbers held little significance to them.

A dozen or so seconds after Fang Wenhai finished speaking, Lin Haifeng spoke again.

"I believe our response to their decision to split into smaller units is simple. Our strongest fighters will lead small groups of elites to hunt down these Demonic Creature squads. Once a member of one group advances to Level 4, that person can lead another squad. We'll repeat the process from there. If the enemy ever gathers in large numbers, we'll immediately crush them with missiles! The Bipedal Lizard horde may have the numerical advantage, but we have heavy weapons, air superiority, and an advantage in intelligence. The danger should be manageable!"

That was Lin Haifeng's proposed strategy.

With two Sequence-level combatants like Wen Yu and Kuangliu on their side, even a Level 5 Bipedal Lizard would not be particularly difficult for them to handle.

"What do you think?"

Ignoring everyone else's reaction, Lin Haifeng looked directly at Kuangliu and Wen Yu.

Kuangliu nodded without offering any further opinion.

Wen Yu, on the other hand, frowned and considered the proposal for a moment before nodding as well.

This was simply an exchange of interests. The price of obtaining Dark Attribute Magic Crystals from the Military was having to play babysitter…

"Then it's settled."

The moment Lin Haifeng saw Wen Yu's response, he finalized the strategy.

"Next, let's discuss what happens if the Demonic Creatures launch an all-out assault and our modern weaponry fails to stop them!"

This was what it meant to consider defeat before thinking of victory.

"If our missiles, or even our nuclear weapons, fail to stop the Demonic Creatures effectively, then we'll have no choice but to face the Bipedal Lizard horde head-on!"

Lin Haifeng fell silent for a moment before continuing.

"You've all seen the Bipedal Lizard race's terrifying reproductive ability in the video footage. Under these circumstances, we don't have many options…"

As far as Wen Yu was concerned, having few options meant they could only abandon the Treasure Land at the Outpost.

But Lin Haifeng's answer made Wen Yu regard him in a new light.
