Chapter 93 – Everything Under Control

Volume 3: Rising Winds and Clouds

As Faceless continued to gorge itself, a large bulge slowly formed on the right side of its body. Then, with a wet pop, a newborn Level 3 Bipedal Lizard dropped to the ground.

Faceless immediately turned and bit it to death…

Wen Yu naturally received the notification that he had earned Points, while the Military personnel promptly stepped forward, split open the dead Bipedal Lizard's skull, and extracted its Magic Crystal.

Then Faceless devoured the corpse on the ground…

Another wet pop followed…

"What a… perfect species!"

Wei Tian's eyes lit up at the sight. Paying no heed to the disgusting slime coating Faceless, he began carefully running his hands over its body, marveling at it all the while.

Pop!

Another bulge burst, spraying slime all over Wei Tian's face. Fortunately, Faceless reacted quickly, twisting around and biting the newborn Bipedal Lizard to death before it could injure Genius Wei.

Wei Tian seemed utterly oblivious to the slime on his face and its nauseating stench. He simply stood there, his eyes blazing with such feverish obsession that even Wen Yu felt a chill run down his spine.

"Mad scientist…"

Kuangliu's quiet murmur reached Wen Yu's ears, and Wen Yu immediately nodded in agreement.

In less than an hour, Faceless had supplied the Military with nearly one hundred Level 3 Magic Crystals, while Wen Yu's Point total had risen by over two hundred thousand.

And all it had cost was a little flesh!

Calling this arrangement a win-win hardly did it justice.

Once everything was running smoothly and Faceless had developed an instinctive cycle of "devour, kill, devour," Wen Yu headed outside.

There was no problem leaving Faceless here. Wen Yu was now free to return to the front lines, kill Demonic Creature targets, and obtain more Points and flesh.

Strictly speaking, Faceless did not "produce" Points particularly quickly. At the very least, it could not compare to the speed and efficiency of Wen Yu personally going on a killing spree. But Faceless could keep doing it without end!

This operation could continue not only here in the Treasure Land, but even after they left it!

With such immense benefits at stake, Faceless would remain nothing more than a "Magic Crystal and Point production machine" unless Wen Yu encountered a truly difficult situation and had no choice but to call upon its power.

The situation on the front lines remained simple and straightforward.

Elite squads led by the Military's superpowered experts continuously hunted down small groups of Demonic Creatures, steadily improving their strength. Whenever a large horde of Demonic Creatures appeared, Wen Yu and Kuangliu would immediately rush over and wipe it out.

With no members of the Level 4 or Level 5 Bipedal Lizard species present, the entire battlefield was developing steadily, exactly as the Military had predicted.

"Everything is under control!"

Those were the exact words of Fang Wenhai, who remained in the Outpost Battle command center overseeing the entire operation.

Wen Yu gazed toward the distant Demon City shrouded in fog, and a trace of doubt rose in his heart.

"Is everything really under control? The Bipedal Lizard species is far too quiet!"

"Those humans seem to be enjoying themselves."

The Demon Seed's low voice echoed through the Demon City, which lay blanketed beneath the Fog of War.

"It would seem so, my lord."

Beside it, the blind Black-skinned Demonic Creature answered respectfully.

The Demon Seed's Fog of War Skill did not obstruct its own vision, but no other creature received the same privilege, not even members of the Baru Demon species under its command!

That hardly mattered, however. The Baru Demon species had no eyes in the first place.

Peering through the dense fog, the Demon Seed fixed a sinister gaze in the direction of the Outpost and muttered under its breath.

"Kill, kill… Kill to your hearts' content! Grow stronger! Then you'll be able to provide even more food for my precious darlings!"

"What a childish bunch. Wouldn't you agree?"

"Yes, my lord," the Black-skinned Demonic Creature replied respectfully.

The Demon Seed nodded with a vicious grin, then glanced behind itself.

Countless high-level Bipedal Lizards were tirelessly excavating the ground behind it. In a remarkably short time, they had already dug out an enormous pit, and they showed no sign of stopping.

The sight made the Demon Seed's smile widen. As though talking to itself, it murmured, "So, everything is under control!"

It was impossible to say which side had a more complete grasp of the current situation, or which side had more confidence in this Outpost Battle.

On the surface, however, the Military clearly held the advantage.

With both sides maintaining the same strangely confident attitude that "everything was under control," the entire Treasure Land had become the Military's private hunting ground for harvesting Points and Magic Crystals.

In just one week, a large number of Level 4 Class Holders emerged from the Military. Each Level 4 Class Holder who had newly undergone Promotion would then take command of a squad and continue the hunting operations. The Military deployed more and more personnel, while the Outpost's defenses were steadily reinforced.

As a result, the area between Demon City and the Outpost became a chaotic killing field where both sides clashed relentlessly.

Vast numbers of Bipedal Lizards died, after which their flesh was transported back to the Outpost to feed Faceless. At the same time, quite a few soldiers were torn apart and devoured by the Bipedal Lizards. Even so, compared to the number of Bipedal Lizard casualties, the Military's death rate remained low.

Meanwhile, Bipedal Lizards continued pouring out of Demon City in an endless stream, ample proof of just how terrifying the black hole's Teleportation capacity truly was.

Boom!

A violent explosion erupted, spraying shrapnel in every direction. The Bipedal Lizard struck head-on by the shoulder-fired rocket threw its jaws wide as if roaring soundlessly, but there was no concealing the mangled wounds covering its body.

Blood and flesh sprayed from those wounds. Faced with the overwhelming power of modern weaponry, the Bipedal Lizard barely managed to thrash around before toppling headfirst to the ground.

Unfortunately, there were simply far too many of them…

Before the soldier carrying the rocket launcher on his shoulder could react, a slick tongue shot out of the ground and wrapped around him.

The tongue was thin and not particularly strong, proving that the Bipedal Lizard behind the attack was relatively weak.

At least, it was weak compared to this Peak Level 3 soldier.

Before the soldier could exert his strength and tear off the underground Bipedal Lizard's tongue, countless more tongues burst from the earth. In mere moments, they had wrapped him into a cocoon.

"Damao!"

Up ahead, a Level 4 Class Holder wielding a War Blade roared when he saw what was happening.

But shouting louder did nothing to help.

The countless Bipedal Lizards concealed underground suddenly pulled with all their might. Using nothing but the recoil generated by their tongues, they dragged their entire bodies out of the earth and pounced straight onto the soldier called Damao.

The sounds of ripping flesh and cracking bones rang out without end.

In mere moments, a Peak Level 3 Class Holder had lost his life. All that remained on the ground were a few spots of crimson blood…

Then came the rapid Split Reproduction. Using the flesh of a single Peak Level 3 Class Holder, these bipedal Demonic Creatures produced an army of over a hundred Level 1 and Level 2 Bipedal Lizards in a remarkably short time!
