Chapter 141 – I Can Make Them Bigger!

Wang Lin didn’t wake up until the night had deepened.

As soon as she opened her eyes, the pain from her back and butt made Wang Lin frown. Having been lying face down all this time, her shoulders also felt extremely stiff, making her whole body uncomfortable beyond words.

After losing blood, her throat felt like it was on fire, and even swallowing was excruciating.

“Water…”

Wang Lin struggled to prop herself up and looked around the dim room.

In her line of sight, slightly above her, was the only bed in the room, and lying on it were Ling Mo and his girlfriend!

What made her scalp tingle even more was that there was another person sitting on a chair in the corner.

Ling Mo was just too much. No matter what, she was his sister-in-law and a wounded one at that, but he still wouldn’t let her sleep on the bed!

The makeshift bed was just a single layer of padding, barely enough for one person, and it had no softness to it at all!

When she lay down to sleep, it didn’t feel so bad, but after lying face down for half a day, Wang Lin felt discomfort all over her body, especially in her chest… Could Ling Mo be biased against flat-chested girls? Did he think that lying face down wouldn’t hurt if you were flat-chested?

Wang Lin kept complaining in her mind as she opened her mouth to call out, “Hey…”

But just as she made a sound, a hand suddenly reached from behind and covered her mouth.

Wang Lin’s eyes widened instantly. Just when she was in a state of panic, a voice came close to her ear, “It’s me.”

The voice sounded very familiar to Wang Lin but carried a hint of unfamiliar coldness.

She hesitated for a moment, and then a look of shock appeared in her eyes.

Xia Na?!

“Don’t make any noise,” Xia Na said again before releasing Wang Lin and moving to squat in front of her.

Facing Xia Na, Wang Lin couldn’t pinpoint her feelings—her expression was a mix of astonishment and complexity.

In their previous two encounters, Xia Na had never initiated a conversation with her, which left Wang Lin feeling both a bit sad and quite angry.

But today, upon waking up, Xia Na had actually approached her on her own.

What made Wang Lin’s heart grow cold, however, was that for some reason, Xia Na’s eyes seemed to emit a faint red glow in the darkness. Her gaze appeared curious, but more than that, it held a natural indifference.

“Why do I feel like a zombie is staring at me…” Wang Lin shivered inwardly, then chastised herself for being overly paranoid.

Although Xia Na’s eyes hadn’t looked like this before, the constant killing in the apocalypse had changed even Wang Lin greatly. It wasn’t surprising that Xia Na had undergone some changes too.

Xia Na’s gaze made Wang Lin feel somewhat guilty, but when she glimpsed a small piece of the necklace string peeking out from Xia Na’s neck, her heart suddenly warmed.

“You…” Wang Lin began to say with difficulty, but a bottle of water was handed to her.

Xia Na’s eyes made her look somewhat eerie, but her actions were quite normal, even showing a bit of concern. “Drink up.”

“…Thanks,” Wang Lin said hesitantly as she took the water, surprised.

After drinking the water, Wang Lin felt much better. When she looked at Xia Na, there was a hint of warmth in her eyes.

People are always especially vulnerable when injured, and Wang Lin was just a young girl. The person in front of her was the only family she had left in this world… if she didn’t count her brother-in-law, Ling Mo.

Xia Na watched Wang Lin drink the water with a gentle smile, then suddenly asked in a low voice, “Why are you here? I remember you should have gone back to Ginkgo Community.”

“Never mind, I was just asking.”

Wang Lin stared into Xia Na’s eyes for a while, hesitating before asking, “What are your plans for the future?”

“Follow Ling-Ge, of course,” Xia Na replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She then added, “But I won’t let him take you along.”

“I don’t want to go with you anyway! But…,” Wang Lin felt extremely frustrated, “Why?! We may not have gotten along, but we’ve known each other for many years. Do you really have to…?”
