Chapter 324 – Acting Tough Has Risks, Firing a Gun Needs Caution

Among this group of people, there was actually someone he recognized.

But compared to before, he had now completely changed into a different person.

He was small and thin, with messy hair, wearing a dirty down jacket, and struggling to carry a large bag behind two men.

The short man was taken aback for a moment, then nonchalantly stepped back a couple of steps, adopting a watching stance.

The other two men also showed gloating smiles, except for a short-haired girl who looked at him with some sympathy.

The collision immediately interrupted the conversation between the two men.

The man who was hit turned around with a gun in his hand, his eyes filled with rage.

“Leader Guan, I’m really sorry, truly…”

Seeing Wu Pengfei’s scared and cautious appearance, the man seemed to become extremely impatient. He lifted his foot and kicked Wu Pengfei to the ground.

“Do you think saying sorry is worth anything? You just make me laugh, you idiot!”

Wu Pengfei let out a groan of pain and hurriedly struggled to get up again, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”

The man called Leader Guan laughed maniacally as he spoke.

The beaten Wu Pengfei was an old acquaintance of his; they had been best friends from elementary to middle school.

Wu Pengfei’s father was the director of a chemical plant, and his family was well-off. Whenever they went out to play, he was always very generous.

He didn’t have the arrogance and domineering attitude that some rich kids had. He was straightforward and got along well with Ling Mo.

But after Ling Mo’s parents passed away, they saw less of each other.

In high school, Wu Pengfei gave up on the school he had planned to attend with Ling Mo and went to a different, more prestigious school.

Although they met a few times after that, Ling Mo deeply felt a growing gap between them. They couldn’t connect like before, and with Wu Pengfei’s cold attitude, they eventually lost contact.

The group burst into laughter. The man hit Wu Pengfei with the butt of his gun again and then raised his hand slightly, “Get up. We’ve been bored these days; let’s have some fun. Remember how I used to bow to you? Come on, show me.”

Wu Pengfei’s head was streaming with blood, but he silently straightened his body, his eyes filled with intense humiliation.

“Mr. Guan, good morning…”

As Wu Pengfei bent over, Leader Guan immediately burst into wild laughter.

But before Wu Pengfei could straighten up, Leader Guan smashed his hindbrain again, “Idiot, you’re not doing it right at all! I hate people like you the most, you make me so angry! As the ancients said, ‘Are the nobility born to be noble?’ Especially you people who rely on your father’s power and spend your days living in luxury…”

Leader Guan had struck twice, but he noticed that Wu Pengfei’s head was now a bloody mess, and he was lying on the ground, wailing in pain.

The short-haired girl finally couldn’t stand it anymore. She rushed forward and said, “Big brother, stop hitting him, you’re going to kill him…”

Another man also tried to hold him back, “Just let off some steam and leave it at that.”

Then, right before everyone’s eyes, a blood hole suddenly appeared on his leg!

Leader Guan screamed, losing his balance and crashing heavily to the ground.

More blood holes began to appear on his body, and he had already dropped his gun.

The other man nervously looked around, but as soon as he turned his head, he was hit hard.

Instinctively, he tried to pull the trigger, but not knowing how to properly use the firearm, he couldn’t get a shot off.

In that moment of hesitation, he was hit twice more, and the gun immediately flew forward.

A young man emerged from the shadows, deftly catching the gun in mid-air. With a swift and practiced motion, he chambered a round with a loud click, pointing the barrel at the man who was reaching for his weapon.

“Drop it.”

Ling Mo said curtly.

The man stared at Ling Mo, dumbfounded. As he hesitated, Ling Mo raised the gun, and a bullet whizzed past, missing him by about a meter and shattering a pane of glass behind him.

This action froze everyone in their tracks. Shattering the glass was clearly a warning shot…

However, no one noticed that Ling Mo himself was momentarily startled.

“Huh? I intended for the bullet to graze his cheek for a dramatic effect, but it veered off by a whole meter? Although it didn’t follow the script, at least it didn’t hit the wall but the glass instead… That was close, almost made a fool of myself. Showing off really is risky; firing a gun needs caution…”

Ling Mo thought to himself, shivering a little, then coughed and said, “Drop your weapons. You holding knives makes me nervous. And when I get nervous, my finger tends to tremble.”

Cold sweat broke out on the man’s forehead. From Ling Mo’s confident chambering and the decisive way he fired the gun, he even mistook Ling Mo for a member of the camp.

Trembling hands? That was the last thing he wanted to see…

“We’ll drop them, right now.”

The man led the way, slowly lifting his outer garment and then pulling a machete from his waist, dropping it to the ground.

The other three men, along with the short-haired girl, obediently pulled out their weapons and dropped them at their feet.

Only Leader Guan continued to writhe on the ground, moaning in pain.

Wu Pengfei, however, was slowly coming to his senses from his dazed state, though he remained lying on the ground, seemingly too weak to get up.

Seeing him up close in this state made Ling Mo’s heart ache.

“Hey, Wu Pengfei, are you okay?”

As soon as he spoke, Ling Mo felt a sudden sting in his nose.

Wu Pengfei’s body trembled. He wiped the blood from his face in disbelief and slowly raised his head.
