Chapter 11 – A Doujinshi Artist Who Can’t Drag Race Isn’t a Good Robber?
Exiting the vault doors, Shi Yu called out to their accomplice outside.
“Withdraw!”
The accomplice nodded and retreated toward the bank’s main entrance.
With one hand on the door and the other gripping a gun, they maintained control of the situation, ensuring no one would suddenly interfere at this critical moment.
So professional, Lin Xi thought. Perhaps this person and Shi Yu had done this kind of “business” before.
Shi Yu and the accomplice left one after the other, and Lin Xi followed immediately as the third to evacuate.
Just as real men don’t look back at explosions, they ran to the side without a single backward glance.
A black motorcycle was parked in a surveillance blind spot.
Three helmets had already been prepared in a bag hanging off the back of the bike.
After snapping her helmet on, Shi Yu straddled the seat and started the engine.
Lin Xi put on her helmet and was the second to board.
Once the third person climbed on, Shi Yu revved the throttle hard. The bike shot forward like a wild horse breaking its tether.
Compared to what they had just done inside the bank, running red lights and speeding were no longer serious crimes.
The bike flew down the road, and Lin Xi’s mind was a chaotic mess.
The wind howled in her ears, giving her the sensation of riding on clouds.
This was the first time she realized Shi Yu actually knew how to drag race.
A doujinshi artist who can’t drag race isn’t a good robber???
All sorts of jumbled thoughts popped into Lin Xi’s frantic mind.
She didn’t even bother to ask where Shi Yu was taking her.
Even if she was being taken to a mass grave to be buried, she could only accept her fate.
The bank could no longer be seen in the motorcycle’s rearview mirror.
The wailing of police sirens faded into the distance behind them.
They had escaped just in time, moving with incredible speed.
The three bank robbers were getting further and further away from the scene of the crime…
…
The bike headed toward increasingly remote areas.
They had long since left the bustling downtown area and entered the main road leading to the Z City Northern Suburbs.
Lin Xi remembered seeing it in her geography textbook:
There really was a massive Mass Grave in the Z City Northern Suburbs!
No way.
Are they really taking me to the Mass Grave to bury me?!
Lin Xi broke into a cold sweat.
She didn’t have the power of the Blazing Blast Witch, and she had ruined Shi Yu’s big plans. Given the fierce bandit Shi Yu’s ruthless personality, she was definitely going to be buried alive!
What should she do?!
Jump off the bike?
Impossible.
She was sitting in the middle, sandwiched like the meat in a burger; there was no way to jump.
Besides, at this speed, jumping would either kill her or leave her crippled.
Beg for mercy?
Yes, that was the plan.
A true witch knows when to yield and when to stand tall!
“Shi Yu!”
Lin Xi tried her best to make her voice sound like she was on the verge of tears.
“Please let me go!”
“I promise I won’t say anything. I won’t breathe a single word. I’ll act like today never happened!”
“I can swear to heaven! I’ll stake my character on it!”
Shi Yu and the accomplice in the back seat remained silent.
Their silence left Lin Xi’s heart in a state of utter turmoil.
She had managed to extend her life by over a day through skinship, but she never expected it would end prematurely like this…
I can’t give up, not yet, Lin Xi told herself. She tried to use the care she had shown Shi Yu over the past two days to move the heart of this vicious, fierce bandit.
And so, Lin Xi began to cry and play the pity card.
“Shut up!” Lin Xi’s attempt at gaining sympathy was met with a cold bark from Shi Yu. “If you keep rambling, I’m throwing you off the bike!”
Lin Xi stopped immediately.
Since Shi Yu had spoken, Lin Xi felt there was still a chance! She asked:
“Where are you taking me?”
“The Mass Grave,” Shi Yu replied.
“Taking me to the Mass Grave… You’re going to bury me alive?!”
“Yes.”
Lin Xi gritted her teeth. “If you won’t let me live, then none of us are living!”
She prepared to grab Shi Yu and jump off the bike together.
Life and death were trifles; if she wasn’t satisfied, she’d fight!
Killing one would break even; killing two would be a profit.
Lin Xi’s surge of hot-blooded courage instantly turned into a cup of iced tea when the passenger behind her pressed a gun against her head.
“Don’t move,” the person behind her commanded coldly.
“Don’t… don’t shoot…” Lin Xi surrendered with impressive speed.
Soon, the bike turned onto a small path overgrown with weeds.
More and more burial mounds appeared in Lin Xi’s field of vision.
Lin Xi recalled her geography textbook mentioning that this Mass Grave was once a small town in Z City. It had been completely destroyed by a First-Grade Disaster from the Dark Realm, turning it into a graveyard.
It was deathly silent here, causing the roar of the motorcycle engine to feel amplified several times over.
The gusts of eerie wind made Lin Xi shudder.
Is… is this about to become my final resting place?
Is this journey through a parallel world really going to end like this?
While Lin Xi was lost in her thoughts, Shi Yu steered the bike and charged straight toward one of the burial mounds.
Closer.
Closer…
“Shi Yu!” Lin Xi screamed. “We’re going to crash!”
“Are you dozing off? We’re going to hit the tombstone!”
Lin Xi shrieked in desperation.
She watched helplessly as the bike hurtled straight toward the burial mound.
I get it now-Shi Yu is a psychotic fierce bandit!
Not only does she want to kill me, but when she gets ruthless, she’s even willing to kill herself?!
However.
The collision with the marble tombstone and the resulting fatal crash that Lin Xi expected didn’t happen.
Instead, the floor tiles in front of the tombstone suddenly split to the left and right, revealing a slope leading underground.
The moment the bike sped into the slope, the lights inside flickered on.
Ah, this…
This is a little awkward.
There was a whole different world beneath the burial mound!
Lin Xi had experienced so many surprises and scares today that her nerves were practically numb.
Consequently, when she saw this miraculous place, she merely observed her surroundings with a hint of ordinary curiosity.
Lin Xi heard a “clack” behind her. Most likely, the floor tiles in front of the grave had closed back up.
The motorcycle engine finally stopped roaring; they had reached their destination.
The place wasn’t large, resembling a small warehouse.
It was piled with various items. Lin Xi spotted vehicle repair tools, canned food, fresh water, gasoline drums, fuel tanks, and… firearms and ammunition???
All sorts of guns and ammo were hanging on the walls!
Is this a freaking miniature underground military base?!
Just who are Shi Yu and her accomplice???
After killing the engine, Shi Yu took off her helmet and removed her black balaclava.
She shook her head, letting her beautiful hair, which had been flattened by the headgear all the way there, fall loose again.
“Get off.”
Once the person behind her dismounted, Lin Xi was the second to get off the motorcycle.
Almost simultaneously with the other person, she removed her helmet and balaclava.
When she saw the other person’s face, Lin Xi was stunned.
“Lu Yi?!”
There was a photo of Lu Yi in Lin Xi’s bedroom.
That line from Miss Witch’s Last Wish List flashed through Lin Xi’s mind: “Lu Yi is a Neko, the ultimate dream of any 2D Otaku. I want to get close to her.”
However, Lin Xi didn’t see any soft cat ears on the head of the cute girl with short, grayish-black hair standing before her.
She glanced behind Lu Yi but didn’t see a cat tail either.
Is she using some special method to hide them…
“You know me?” The cute Neko classmate tilted her head and turned to Shi Yu. “Shi Yu, did you tell her about me?”
Shi Yu was also puzzled. “No, I didn’t tell her anything.”
They both looked at Lin Xi, who immediately regretted not keeping her mouth shut.
“How do you know Lu Yi?” Shi Yu asked, sounding like she was interrogating a prisoner. “Don’t tell me you even know Lu Yi’s true identity?!”
Lin Xi shook her head helplessly.
Shi Yu sneered and pulled out the silver-white pistol from behind her waist. Lin Xi folded instantly.
“By… by chance! I saw Lu Yi’s cat ears at school once, so I knew she was like me-someone from the Dark Realm.”
Lin Xi was bullshitting, working backward from the answer she already knew.
She only knew Lu Yi was a Neko and guessed that Lu Yi used some method to hide her ears and tail.
This meant it was highly likely that at some point, Lu Yi’s cat ears had accidentally popped out. If that were the case, it was possible she could have seen them.
Everything became logical.
“Was it that day the medicine wore off…” Lu Yi murmured to herself.
Lin Xi had made a lucky guess.
She just never would have dreamed that Shi Yu’s accomplice was a Neko from the Dark Realm.
Which meant… Lin Xi asked Lu Yi excitedly:
“Lu Yi! Were you also accidentally touched by Shi Yu? And then she used her superpower to find out your true identity? And then she threatened you into working for her, just like she’s threatening me?”
Lin Xi called out with powerful conviction:
“Lu Yi, as fellow victims, let’s form a united front and fight this devil Shi Yu together!”
Lin Xi took a step back, positioning Lu Yi in front of her as if to protect her.
“Lu Yi, let’s take her down! We can escape this place together!”
“Hahaha!-” Shi Yu laughed.
She clutched her stomach, laughing uncontrollably.
Lu Yi slowly walked over to Shi Yu’s side. “Shi Yu and I have been partners for a long time. This secret base under the burial mound is our safe house.”
Lin Xi was dumbfounded.
Was I the Joker all along???
“Um…” Lin Xi’s awkward smile looked worse than if she were crying. “Shi Yu, what I just said… I was just talking nonsense. Don’t take it to heart.”
Shi Yu blinked. “And what if I do take it to heart?”
Lin Xi: “…”
I’m cooked!
