Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao walked into the crowd and saw Monkey counting the casualties.

Although the seven Demonic Creatures were somewhat subpar, they still possessed Level 3 strength. Fighting to the death, their lethality against Level 2 Class Holders was immense!

"Thirteen dead…"

After a brief hesitation, Monkey simply sighed. He took a bottle of Intermediate Healing Potion from his Spatial Ring and downed it in one go.

During the battle just now, Monkey had held off two Level 3 Demonic Creatures by himself and sustained some minor injuries.

"You're back."

Monkey turned around and saw Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao walking into the crowd.

"Where's Big Bear?"

"He fell in battle."

"I see."

Monkey gave a simple response. A lonely expression involuntarily flickered across his face, but it vanished quickly.

"It's good that you're back. Seven Demonic Creatures appeared just now. Fortunately, they didn't manage to harm Princess Fina."

"Good work."

Jiang Wentao patted Monkey on the shoulder and turned to organize the others to clear the battlefield.

Wen Yu walked over to Princess Fina's side.

During the fight, Sun Aotian, Sun Ruixing, and Basong had stayed close to protect Princess Fina. The Demonic Creatures weren't strong enough to break through, and every Class Holder understood one thing: if anything happened to Princess Fina or the Prince, this Trial would be considered a failure.

And the consequences of failure were something absolutely no one wanted to experience!

Therefore, Princess Fina had been kept securely in the center of the Class Holders. This had also indirectly protected Sun Aotian, Sun Ruixing, and the others.

Sun Aotian couldn't help but shudder when he saw Wen Yu's tattered Protective Suit.

To leave Wen Yu in such a sorry state, the strength of the Demonic Creatures he faced must have been far beyond their imagination.

"Wen Yu-Ge, I'm glad you're okay."

Sun Aotian hesitated for a long time before finally speaking up.

Wen Yu nodded at him.

This kid had seemed a bit delusional when they first met, but as he experienced more, he was gradually becoming more grounded.

Unfortunately, the pendulum had swung too far. It seemed Sun Aotian's confidence had been somewhat crushed by the succession of powerful beings appearing one after another.

Ignoring the looks from the others, Wen Yu spoke directly to Princess Fina.

"Princess Consort, the danger level has exceeded our expectations. Moving forward, we must travel as quickly as possible. It may be very grueling, so I hope you can understand."

Princess Fina didn't put on any royal airs and nodded in agreement.

"I shall leave it to you brave warriors."

Hearing Fina's reply, Wen Yu turned and said to Basong, "Keep sensing. Find a relatively safe direction. We need to pick up the pace."

Basong nodded and pointed toward the east-southeast.

"In that direction, the danger is relatively lower, but it's still there. It's roughly on par with the danger level of those seven Demonic Creatures from earlier."

"Everyone, move out!"

After hearing Basong's report, Wen Yu shouted to the remaining Class Holders.

Though they were exhausted after just finishing a battle, no one complained.

Everyone understood that every step forward brought them closer to completing the mission.

Under the scorching sun, the group trudged through the endless swirling sands, their pace slowing further and further.

The environment of Shimmer Blue Star was actually somewhat similar to Earth's.

However, the invasion of the Demon Race had caused the planet's ecology to undergo a sudden and drastic change!

Take this place, for example.

With the Physical Attributes of a Class Holder, even being dropped into the middle of the Sahara Desert wouldn't be considered dangerous.

Unfortunately, the current Shimmer Blue Star was different.

In this land of blowing sand, the temperature was incredibly high!

Wen Yu wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"The temperature is too high!" he muttered.

He looked back over his shoulder.

Everyone, including Level 3 Class Holders like William, was moving slowly like the walking dead. Princess Fina had long since been hoisted onto William's shoulder.

As for the Fourth Prince, he was being carried in Chu Ziling's arms. A pale blue jade pendant hung around the boy's neck, protecting him from the heat. 

Princess Fina had taken it out of her Spatial Ring that morning.

"Stop! Everyone, stop!"

Wen Yu, who was at the front, shouted loudly, snapping the dazed crowd back to their senses.

Thud.

Upon hearing Wen Yu's command, the weakest members at the back of the line collapsed directly to the ground.

"We can't go on. No one expected this hellhole to be so hot. If we keep going, we'll expend too much stamina. If we run into Demonic Creatures, we won't even have the strength to fight back!" Jiang Wentao said to Wen Yu, his parched lips twitching as he spoke in a raspy voice.

"Yeah, we need to find some shade to hide in. I never expected the difficulty of this mission to come not just from the pursuing Demonic Creatures, but from the heavens themselves. It's like the world is actively working against us!"

Wen Yu cursed bitterly. The high temperature was making him irritable.

"Let's head over there. We'll find a cave to rest for a while and set out again at night," Jiang Wentao suggested.

"That's our only option."

Wen Yu nodded and turned to walk toward a nearby area filled with jagged rocks.

At the moment, Wen Yu was the most suitable person to scout the way. After all, he still had enough stamina.

After setting up a simple Camp, William set Princess Fina down and handed her a bottle of water.

"Thank you."

Princess Fina performed a standard Shimmer Blue Star noble salute to William. She then took the Fourth Prince from Chu Ziling's arms and began taking small sips of water.

"It is my honor, Your Highness!"

William's etiquette was even more precise.

"Pfft."

Seeing the interaction between the two, Chu Ziling couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Fortunately, Chu Ziling wasn't a total fool. Noticing William and Fina looking his way, he gave an awkward chuckle and turned to walk toward Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao.

Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao were currently discussing their next move and the biggest problem they faced-supplies!

Whether it was food, drinking water, or even Healing Potions, they were running low. And this was only the first day of the mission!

Even more terrifying was that the Exchange Pillars, which were ubiquitous on Earth, were nowhere to be found here!

This was a dire situation.

In a harsh environment without Healing Potions, a minor injury could easily worsen into a serious one, eventually leading to death.

"How many Healing Potions and food supplies do you have left?" Wen Yu asked Jiang Wentao first.

"We have about ten bottles of Intermediate Healing Potion (Modified), but those aren't very useful for a Level 3 Class Holder. We also have eight bottles of Advanced Healing Potion (Modified)."
