Apocalypse Summoning Frenzy Volume 2 Chapter 49

The New Camp

Chapter 49 – The New Camp

Volume 2: Battlefield Between Two Worlds

At the entrance of the Camp, two Class Holders were smoking and chatting. Survivors moved in and out of the main gate from time to time.

Everyone's mental state was far better than it had been before.

In the distance, a massive grey figure drew closer and closer!

"Is that… Boss Wen Yu?"

One of the guards was the first to notice One-Eye's increasingly enormous size. He spoke hesitantly to the person beside him.

The other man rubbed his eyes vigorously, tossed his cigarette butt away, and said excitedly, "It really is! You wait here, I'm going to tell Fei-Ge that our Camp's Hero has returned!"

With that, he dashed straight into the Camp.

By the time Wen Yu reached the gate of the Settlement, Zang Pengfei and the rest of the Camp's High Command had already received word of his return. They had come out early to greet him. Behind Zang Pengfei, a large number of Ordinary People stood in line behind the Class Holders, quietly watching Wen Yu.

"Hero! Hero! Hero!"

As Zang Pengfei raised his right fist and shouted the word "Hero" with all his might, everyone in the entire Camp slowly raised their right fists as well.

The sound rose from a low murmur to a roar that eventually echoed through the sky!

Everyone shouted the word "Hero" at the top of their lungs.

This was respect for the strong, a tribute to Wen Yu for saving everyone in the Camp.

Watching the heartfelt respect from everyone-including Zang Pengfei and even Sun Aotian-a simple smile slowly curled onto the corners of Wen Yu's mouth.

"They really are… a bunch of lovely people."

He waved his hand firmly. As the shouting gradually died down, Wen Yu walked directly up to Zang Pengfei.

"What's the situation now?"

Zang Pengfei first turned around to disperse the surrounding crowd, then replied with a smile, "The situation is excellent. Since the Zombie King died, the Zombies have lost their organization. These scattered Zombies can't withstand the attacks of the Camp's Class Holders at all. This time, we didn't just retake Chaihe Town; the strength of all the Class Holders has also significantly improved. Moreover, the supplies in Chaihe Town are enough to sustain us for a long time!"

"Good. Find me a room first; I need to rest. We can talk about everything else after I wake up."

"Alright, I've already got one ready for you. I guarantee you'll be satisfied."

Zang Pengfei smiled at Wen Yu and led him directly into the Camp.

The new Camp was established within a Residential Area. Tall walls rose up around the perimeter, and Zang Pengfei's group had reinforced them with barbed wire, creating a simple first line of defense.

Zang Pengfei led Wen Yu straight into a Residential Building. He took out a ring of keys and opened the door to a residence on the top floor.

"Younger Brother Wen Yu, from now on, this is your home. See what you think of the place your Old Brother set aside for you?"

Inside the room, Zang Pengfei had already had people clean everything. A faint fragrance lingered in the air.

The room faced the sun, and sunlight streamed directly through the windows, casting a soft glow over the furniture. The bedding, the furniture, even the pots and pans-everything was new!

It was a plain two-bedroom apartment, but in the Apocalypse, this was already a very rare and precious dwelling.

Wen Yu nodded in satisfaction and said directly, "Thanks, Fei-Ge. It's really nice; it feels very much like home."

Hearing Wen Yu's words, Zang Pengfei grinned broadly. "Younger Brother Wen Yu, don't embarrass your Old Brother. You put in so much effort for us; no matter how we repay you, it wouldn't be too much."

"You don't need to say all that. I only did what I had to do."

Killing the Zombie King, letting One-Eye evolve, and harvesting Points for himself-those were Wen Yu's primary objectives.

He hadn't expected the situation to be viewed so differently by others. Wen Yu didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the title of Hero that had been inexplicably thrust upon him.

It was simply a difference in perspective brought about by the gap in their power levels.

Now that things had reached this point, Wen Yu wasn't about to go around explaining to everyone that he wasn't actually a Hero. If he could enjoy the treatment of an elite, he was more than happy to do so.

"Then, Younger Brother, why don't you settle in here for now? Once you're awake, just come downstairs and find me. I'd like to talk to Younger Brother Wen Yu about a few other matters."

Zang Pengfei spoke with a hint of hesitation, clearly indicating there were problems the Camp couldn't solve on its own.

"We'll talk when I get up," Wen Yu replied dismissively.

"Alright, then this Old Brother will take his leave."

Wen Yu nodded and watched Zang Pengfei depart, then let out a sigh. "Being a Hero is such a pain. I bet it's more grunt work."

As One-Eye's massive body squeezed through the security door with great effort, Wen Yu locked the door behind them and collapsed onto the bed in the master bedroom, falling into a deep sleep.

Although the need for sleep decreased as one became a Class Holder, a good rest still helped a living being improve their mental state and focus. Besides, in this godforsaken Apocalypse, what else was there to do in a Camp if not sleep?

Only four hours later, Wen Yu was already awake.

His keen sense of smell picked up the aroma of food, causing his stomach to growl loudly.

He had been out killing Zombies for days and hadn't eaten anything decent. As for the high-energy food provided by the Exchange Pillar, Wen Yu couldn't bring himself to waste his Points on it.

He gave One-Eye two kicks as the dog lay sprawled across the floor. This Dead Dog had eaten his fill; to One-Eye, Zombies and Mutant Beasts were all food-the only difference was the flavor.

One-Eye whimpered twice, rolled over, and swept his thick, sturdy tail across Wen Yu's leg before falling back asleep.

"Damn it, you sure sleep soundly."

Wen Yu cursed with a chuckle and walked out of the room, heading toward the source of the aroma.

Downstairs, it happened to be mealtime.

With the Survivors having reclaimed Chaihe Town, the food stored in the town was sufficient to sustain several hundred people. Zang Pengfei had already organized teams to start clearing wasteland for farming.

If the current situation could be maintained, there was a high probability that everyone could continue to live and multiply on this land.

Unfortunately, this wasn't just any disaster; it was merely the prelude to the Apocalypse!

When the others saw Wen Yu walking down, everyone stood up instinctively, greeting him with smiles plastered on their faces.

Wen Yu felt awkward maintaining a cold expression, so he forced out a strained smile while cursing inwardly, "Fame and status… I'm really not fucking used to this!"

Fortunately, Zang Pengfei appeared just in time to smooth things over, saving Wen Yu's face from cramping up.

"Come, Brother Wen Yu, over here. I'll have someone bring the food over. We can have a meeting while we eat!"

Zang Pengfei took Wen Yu by the arm and led him directly into a small restaurant within the Residential Area.

"It's perfect timing. The people in charge of our Camp are all here. Let's hold a meeting; there are still some things we need Brother Wen Yu's help with."
